Good ideas! I’ve had the idea of using diluted paint on the chipping but the ink idea with gold backup is genius!! Great results and thank you for doing this so we don’t have to. You are a time saver saint 🤙
Holographic powders lightly dusted or glitter paints... go for super shine paints. (I actually love the dry brushed gold with black... moody and subtle.) Also like the dry brushed black with light background... contrast is the name of the game, looks like. Love the alcohol inks with gilding, fantastic idea!
I've got a set of transparent inks from letterhead sign supplies that's 15 years old. I use it very sparingly with oil guild then 12k gold, makes it look like Japan leaf. I talked to Ron and they can't get it anywhere anymore the supplier dried up. Another top knotch vid!
Cheers Scott!! I've just ordered some chameleon color changing inks to test with glue chipped glass. They're transparent so should work with gold leaf.
Hey Paul... the down side is, every time I think; "I could try that effect, you pop up with another idea just to confuse me ;) ??? Man I'm old and this poor old mind can't hold that much... LOL Nice idea and thanks again. By the way I checked out a Laser cutter here in Oz and we were talking over 10 grand... nope sticking with my 24 year old vinyl cutter and sand blasting... In the States on Amazon, cheap as chips???? go figure.
How do I dispose of the etching cream thats on the glass ? Is a hose pipe and a plastic bucket ok ? What will happen if i pour it down the toilet or sink ? or drain outside ?
when I was a kid 40 years ago there were traveling carnivals. They did silk screen with etched glass. It was usually hard rock bands or cuties things but I spend more time watching than riding the rides. You experimented with such things?
I use silk screens to seal gold leaf and create intricate designs. I plan on doing a video about it, but the place that exposed my screens went out of business, so I’m looking for a new one :)
Loving the videos. Many thanks. Apologies if these questions have already been covered but.... 1. have you experimented with glue chipping a second time, or multiple times. Any good outcome, or just a mess!! 2. are there ways of varying the degree/depth of chipping? Various strength glue mixes?? Thanks again.
Thanks, glad you're enjoying the vids! I often do a second coat to get any areas that didn't chip, but I avoid getting it on the chipped areas because the result isn't as nice. Here's a video where I experiment with different glue mixes for different effects: ua-cam.com/video/P_g_eTXATKg/v-deo.html
@@happygilder interesting. I’ve been thinking about lazer and cnc The cnc idea was could you use a draw knife to cut the mask on the glass. Then use a diamond tipped tool to scratch the glass. Perhaps going heavy for the vein down a leaf or fern pattern. Now hot glue, draw knife to remove the excess. Ie how much automation can be done
I think this is the most important video you made so far !!!
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it!!
Very cool!! Didn't know about setting inks on fire. My favorite of these.
Thanks man! The fire marbling is definitely the most fun :D
I’m loving the progression in technique and experimentation on this channel!!
Thanks!! Glad you're enjoying it!!
Love that gold leaf over the fire marbling. Thanks for all the planning and work that goes into putting your clips together Paul.
Thanks Di!! :D
Now I need to go find your video on the alcohol inks, that looks great with the leaf !!
Here’s a link to the vid :D

Really nice effects, love the work you do and experiments. Thanks, great video.
Thanks Stuart, glad you enjoyed it!!
What about doing a sign with silver leaf or one the uses both types of leaf?
I don’t use silver because it tarnishes whereas 12k white gold doesn’t. I’ve made quite a few signs using different shades of gold though

Haha got to keep you on your toes Ken!!
The laser is good but it doesn't beat the hands on method. It certainly doesn't warrant a 10K price tag!!

I've been struggling to achieve a mirrored gild finish, what am I doing wrong??

What happens if you laser engrave a picture, then back it with gold?
I've never tried it, but someone on the Facebook group glided the glass first and then lasered a photo into the gold. It looked really good!!

Очень интересно посмотреть если такой техникой покрыть круглое стекло с рисунком моныты. Например биткойн!👍
great ideas loved the outcome :-)
Thanks!!
last time I saw that man on your shirt was in Con Air
😂😂😂
I vote Gold and sticking to it lol
Very nice
Thanks!!
