    “If it works.. it works..” Totally man! Who cares if it’s 100% accurate to the actual amp. As long as it sounds and feel like a real “tube amp” (and clearly it does), it’s definitely just as good. You either like it or you don’t. Who could know.. it could be a different amp model, or a “modded” Plexi with a more pushed sound, or simply a particular overdrive pedal in front of the Plexi. With Tonex and NAM, we’re now at a point where we should simply scroll through the captures, pick the one that particularly hit the spot, and have fun! No more “Yea it sounds good, but how close is it to the real thing?! Cause if it’s still somewhat distinguishable… forget it!”

    • @Rohbemusic
      @Rohbemusic  Рік тому +1

      I am totally down with this! Excactly my philosophy. Will trust my ears more than any null test or scientific bs. I believe this is a great chance of doing something new. Dont fight against all the quirks of the nam or tonex. Just try to do something better. In many cases with my profiles I feel like its something new, even better than the original. You never know. Like nam adds a little top end bite and some extra distortion the way I do it and tonex is very thick and dark and dropps some gain. Cool, istead of match everything in absurdum you might end up with something cooler 👍 Thanks man!

    Thank you for sharing these captures. Upon recently discovering tonex and now NAM these captures and accompanying IRs are the best I have heard. It is really just like sitting in the room with this great amp. Can you reply with more information about the 68 Plexi used? Is it a 100 or 50 watt and what tubes are in it and has any kind of work has been done to it over the years? Again, these captures are great representations of the iconic plexi sound. Well, amazing fretwork! Just as a bit of a silly observation; years ago a friend told me that I shouldn’t lift my fingers so far off the fingerboard (really my little finger was/still is the culprit). I took this advice fairly seriously but could I discipline my little finger? Not really... I find it so hard... virtually impossible. Not that it really bothered me so much, but it was an interesting challenge.
    Anyway, I see you lift your little finger quite high, but it’s frankly freakish what you can do, so it just goes to show... it’s not really that important... certainly not for the level I play at

      Hey! Thanks 👍 Yes Im not really for people and teachers telling peoples how to hold, grip or fret something. That can backfire and you shouldnt feel uncomfortable just because someone told you "this" is how its done. You can do it i a million ways and focus on developing your own style.
      Dont really think of it anylonger but the way im doing it helps with more powerful hamerons and pullofs than if your pinkey was close to the fretboard. And speedwise, no issues here 👍
