    Tom,
    When you did the fish on side imaging. Then you anchor up wind of them. The question I have is ...how far up wind and how do you know where exactly they are at? Do you have like a range in feet from waypoint on your bird or trolling motor? Thank you much

    • @shuckinwizzys9128
      @shuckinwizzys9128 4 роки тому +3

      Hey Brent last year he did a video on that with using the distance ruler on the H-bird map. I think when zoomed in it goes to like 50'. If you waypoint the pod of fish and then position upwind by that distance or a little more it keeps the fish at a full to 3/4 cast length away.

    How do you get your boat to hold so steady using spot lock in that wind? I have a Minn Kota Terrova w/spot lock and it’ll stay put for a few minutes then the motor kicks in and swings the front and sometimes turns the boat completely around. Thanks Tom. Great info and another great video.

    Hi Tom, I would really appreciate your opinion on the difference between imaging quality of the humminbird gen2 vs gen3?? I have 3 helix 9's on my boat all networked gen2 units. 2 in the back, one on the bow. It is my understanding that gen2 and gen3 units can be networked together, just wondering if I really should go to a gen 3 or not, just based on image quality. Thank you for what you do, greatly appreciated.

    Tom, when deciding to fish a new lake you've never fished before, what research do you do BEFORE you get on the water, to tell you that a particular lake has potential? Can you explain what maps, or DNR info you might look for to help you determine that the lake warrants some further exploration? It would be helpful to learn what goes into your decision to fish a lake or not fish it.

    Tom - Some rainy day it might be kinda cool if you did a video on your boat / equipment. What you like, what you would do different. Would be nice to hear the opinion of someone who is out there every day. I plan on trading my boat in for a different setup in a few years and I know it definitely won't have a console. Nice for cruising around... absolutely pain for fishing. So much lost space.

    • @shuckinwizzys9128
      @shuckinwizzys9128 4 роки тому

      I agree Tom- I'd be interested in how much tackle/storage you're running. I see often you have a pile of rods out of storage in the corner of the boat- I assume that's because the rod storage is full of tackle/plastics like the bass guys? I run a 20' Lund glass tiller which has decent storage but still have the simms dry creek bag full of plastics sitting in the boat because all other storage space used. A video on equipment maintenance in the rain would be cool.

    • @TomBoley
      @TomBoley  4 роки тому +1

      I really don't carry alot with me. Jigs. Plastics. Some cranks. 12 rods. Each day I put in what I think I will use and that's it. The rods in the corner are the rods I use that day. The rest stay in the rod locker.

      I used to have the same problem (and probably still do at time). Practice is really the key. Make a few thousand casts and eventually you'll find the right rhythm. You'll also learn your reel at the same time. For instance, on mine, it is 1 to 1.5 cranks per pop to keep the slack out of the line.
