Alot of you are asking about alternatives as was I. I tried water and the powder I was fixing actually rejects the water, it stayed as little bubbles and refused to blend. Dug out my rubbing alcohol and it worked like a charm - just a heads up for anyone else who was thinking of trying water. Thanks for the vid liveloveglam!
I was so upset when I recently dropped and spilled my pressed powder all over the floor. Your video was easy to follow and totally helped me out. Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much! I dropped a nearly brand new MAC powder this weekend in my kitchen and was able to fix it. I was a little skeptical and was worried about the alcohol smell but that evaporated and my powder is in one piece again. You saved me!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've watched other tutorials on UA-cam on this as a blush I ordered arrived crushed to smithereens and the color is sold out, but I couldn't even get through them because they were so annoying and drawn out. Your tutorial was direct and not annoying at all. :)
This is exact what I needed! I use a powder foundation and I always end up with the middle of it gone before the edges. I knew about alcohol and eyeshadow but I was unsure about using it on foundation. Now I can transfer it into a smaller compact and finish it! Thanks!
omg! thin is soo useful! i was actually watching lauren curtis's new video and she mentioned this techniqe. so i searched and found ur video! super awesome! i just broke my powder foundation and its out of stock currently so i really need to fix it!
Wow! How did you come up with that?? I just fixed 3 of my mostly used compact powders by crumbling it and putting it in clear bathroom/makeup containers. I think I'll do this to them. ...and if the compact is pretty and has a big mirror I usually break the mirror off too If I need it.
Great video! I have just a small piece of powder eyeshadow that's cracked- how can I fix it? Do I use the same technique or do something different? I wish I saw this sooner- I had a blush that broke last week.
i just have to say that ur tutorial is the best out of the half dozen or so i have watched what kind of rubbing alcohol did you use? i have seen many kinds and i am not sure which to use
Thank You!!! SO excited to try, bad habit of breaking my make-up powders!!! Just broke another one (as I was opening it for 1st time, cause I'm smooth like that) & gonna try this lil trick tonight!!!
This is EXACTLY what i needed. My powder just broke and i didn't know how to fix it. Oh and is it really important to use rubbing alcohol? Or is there a substitute?
Thanks for sharing. I guess it can vary depending on your skintype.. *shrugs* because that didn't happen to me i didn't break out at all. Do you have sensitive skin?
I totally forgot about this method. I need to get some rubbing alcohol to fix my bronzer. Im so glad i ended up in this video tho. Btw do i need to wait for the product to dry a bit before i pressed the tissue on top, if yes then how long tho? And thanks 🙏🏼
Awesome tip, thank you so much for sharing! Do you think that most of the alcohol evaporates, and so very little alcohol remains? I want to try this, but I have dry skin and am a little hesitant since alcohol is said to be drying.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I bought a new pressed powder yesterday and I clumsily dropped it. Then I found your tutorial and now its good as new 😊😘
Really love the loose powder idea bc lately I've had a few that broke. The only thing is you need a container to use as a loose makeup.... Right?just need to find one. I have an illuminating powder that broke and I think it will be pretty as a loose powder.
I personally would just crush the broken piece & use it as a loose powder & use the rest regularly. But if the broken piece is big i would crush the rest & do the following steps as shown in the video :) Sorry for the late reply! What did you end up doing?
Thank you for the great video, I found it very helpful. I really wish I had seen it in the past as I have thrown away cracked powders-but thanks to you that won't be happening anymore :)
your video was very helpful. the only thing is that its been more than 24 hrs and i still smell alcohol.. is it supposed to be like that? will it eventually evaporate?
Is it normal for the product to smell like rubbing alcohol afterwards? Not sure if I put too much (two capfuls, didn't think I put enough in because it wasn't stirring to a proper consistency!), with an almost full NARS compact blush. I just took off a lot of bright pink pigment (even though I have the colour Orgasm and it looks a lot darker in the case) with a kleenex and I'm leaving it open to air-dry completely tonight, but I'm worried there's still a lot of rubbing alcohol in it? :/
Unfortunately i'm not sure of any alternatives but I heard you can use water. I haven't tried using it but someone posted a comment saying you can but it just takes longer to evaporate :)

Somehow I ended up having more product when crushed so I used a bigger pot and while it was still wet I used a round sponge to make it smoother. I'm letting it dry now. Thank you so much, it was VERY useful!
u don't have to worry too much how smooth it is....cuz u put tissue paper down to "press" the powder which removes most the alcohol AND makes it smooth 😊...just thought I'd mention that so your not working so hard to make it perfect when the next step of absorbing by pressing pretty much does that for you :)
Lisa Heideman I had some problems with the tissue paper, that´s why I used a sponge, but maybe I did something wrong, at the end it dried though. Thank you so much! :)
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I SUBBED!! All that time I've been throwing away my broken compacts of powder make-up and eye-shadows. THIS HAS HELPED ME A GREAT,GREAT,GREAT BIG DEAL!!!! I'll be doing this for now on. TAKE CARE...
Christina Christodoulou I just seen a comment from someone saying they used toner & made a video: How to fix your broken makeup♥ so then it looks like you can!
The alcohol will not damage our skin as it is use in face powder and I use that trick but it gives too smell of alcohal and iam afraid from using powder at the I think it will damage my skin is it true
yes, my bronzer was such a pain to use all broken up. It works great now! I have to get my own youtube account, hubby is pissed I am using his account to comment on makeup, lol! - Gina Kiser
It shouldn't smell since the rubbing alcohol evaporates, mine didn't smell like anything. Do you remember what the alcohol % was? What's the status on it now? is it fine?
can i substitute the rubbing alcohol with? please answer this asap because i want to fix my mothers broken powder(because she's been having trouble with using the shattered powder for days so i thought i should fix it)before she wakes up from her sleep :)
Thank you so much for this. My daughter broke my wife's eye shadow and foundation, but I was able to fix it for her! She's going to be incredibly relieved.
I'm not sure for all powders, but yes it did change the original state for the powder i showed. It made it more "powdery". When i was using it before i would have to swirl my brush around it more to pick up the product whereas when i did this method it was easier for my brush to pick up the product.
Genius! Thank you so much! I have this annoyingly large H&M circular compact where I only use 1/4 of it--the most amazing highlighter I've been able to find (the other colors are crap, and I can't find this color anywhere). I am going to chop that 1/4 highlighter out of it and transfer it to a MUCH smaller compact--perhaps an old MAC Blot. :)
Out of the majority of How To videos I e just watched, ur method makes more spence. 1st, like you I would do water either. Also, u took powder out & put in bag (s/u have to do in a box like a p pallet, it will stain the card board packaging). You also patted the pan to get bubbles out & then let sit 1 hour (not overnight). And then you came back, added a bit more alcohol & press out. The other videos I was were mess; didn't pat, didn't press to get all the alchol out, and go back in like u did. KUDOS!
Thuraya Alzubaidi I wouldn't suggest using perfume or any other product with alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is your best option (check your local dollar store). All the best!

***** Thank-you so much for sharing that helpful information with us!! :)
Question, can we do it with acetone?
@@helloitsme1952 no, it will alter the cosmetic and it will not apply the same.
91% isopropyl alcohol is the best
I was actually thinking of trying water, thanks for saving me the stress
I was so upset when I recently dropped and spilled my pressed powder all over the floor. Your video was easy to follow and totally helped me out. Thanks for posting!

Yours is the best tutorial I have seen on how to do this. Thank you for posting!

Might be my new favorite channel
Thank You!!! SO excited to try, bad habit of breaking my make-up powders!!! Just broke another one (as I was opening it for 1st time, cause I'm smooth like that) & gonna try this lil trick tonight!!!
I tried this with regular powder coverup and bronzer. It made a perfect pressed on-the-go traveler size powder. Thanks!
This is EXACTLY what i needed. My powder just broke and i didn't know how to fix it. Oh and is it really important to use rubbing alcohol? Or is there a substitute?
Are you still able to use the puff that comes with the compact after doing this, or do you need to use a makeup brush?
Thanks for sharing. I guess it can vary depending on your skintype.. *shrugs* because that didn't happen to me i didn't break out at all. Do you have sensitive skin?

ilinaeternity Sorry for the late reply, most or all of the alcohol evaporated for me! I hope it worked out for you :)
What is that NAIL POLISH you have on? Gorgeous shade.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I bought a new pressed powder yesterday and I clumsily dropped it. Then I found your tutorial and now its good as new 😊😘
Did the smell go away? i hope it did because it should have! what was the alcohol content %?
Really love the loose powder idea bc lately I've had a few that broke. The only thing is you need a container to use as a loose makeup.... Right?just need to find one. I have an illuminating powder that broke and I think it will be pretty as a loose powder.
Hmm.. a replacement lid is kinda tricky, I'd say keep it in a small zip lock baggy. Were you able to find a better alternative?
This is so helpful I have one Mac compact that broke long ago n I won't throw it away cuz I wanna buy it again but it's all cracked up
Mia Brooks I hope you were able to restore it :)
I personally would just crush the broken piece & use it as a loose powder & use the rest regularly. But if the broken piece is big i would crush the rest & do the following steps as shown in the video :) Sorry for the late reply! What did you end up doing?
Thank you so much I was tired of getting broken compact all over my clothes now I can use it just like new again 😊
Thank youuuuuuu :D but what if just half powder is broken? :( should I break the rest to do this ?
Yes
Aida Mesa Yes, break it to very small pieces. I hope it worked out for you :)
Thank you for the great video, I found it very helpful. I really wish I had seen it in the past as I have thrown away cracked powders-but thanks to you that won't be happening anymore :)
hands down the best "how to" video I have ever watched! I will pick up some alcohol and give it a try, I'll let you know! Thanks
Barbara Horton Thank-you so much!! All the best, I hope it works out for you :)
your video was very helpful. the only thing is that its been more than 24 hrs and i still smell alcohol.. is it supposed to be like that? will it eventually evaporate?
love this!!! i have so many eyeshadows etc that need fixing, lol btw which editor do you use??
Hi? u used alcohol to fix it back, will it not have bad effects on the face?
Hi whats the alternative for alcohol? I'm not too comfortable in mixing it to my pressed powder.. thanks!!!
can i do this with bronzer? like a shimmery one with three different colours in it?
Yes
Is it normal for the product to smell like rubbing alcohol afterwards? Not sure if I put too much (two capfuls, didn't think I put enough in because it wasn't stirring to a proper consistency!), with an almost full NARS compact blush.

Hey I was just wondering , is there an something else I could use instead of rubbing alcohol????
thanks a lot hun..... very very helpful :) but doesn't this change the colour? darker???????

Unfortunately i'm not sure of any alternatives but I heard you can use water. I haven't tried using it but someone posted a comment saying you can but it just takes longer to evaporate :)

Gabriela RL smooth fabric like cheesecloth or un bleached muslin is much easier to work with.
