Fun video - thanks for the review!! One little nit to pick: damping is the correct word for reducing the amplitude in waves (such as sound waves) is "damping" or "to damp." So there are dampers and they provide damping in the corners. The word "dampen" means to make damp or moist, and is concerned with liquid. Thanks again!!
Excellent vocal presentation with visual flair. The vocal cadence is right on, avoiding flatline delivery. Technical features delivered in such a way that brings the marque alive to the viewer/potential customer.
The reason Android is not supported because Google wanted the read too much information from the car which Porshe/AUDI/VW was not willing to give due to privacy concerns ( data like driving pattern and all... So they can turn around and sell it to insurance company) where as apple dont collect that data.
A Porsche employee already leaked that when they tested the Android Auto they noticed it was talking restricted data from the car that they didn't want out, so they decided to only go with Apple which supposedly did not have this issue. Ferrari did the exact same, their AUX button even has Apple Car Play written. Funny thing is that they seem worried about they cars data, but what about their consumers personal data that goes into this system
Great to see you driving around Crete and a great video also. I've had experience of driving around Crete in my salad days. However in those days my car was a Citroen 2CV but I'm sure I had just as much fun back then as you had in the video! :-))
thanks for great reviews ,but i appreciate your great gifts to in your fitness, personality, your love and affection for cars, people and the world at large..
so what happened to the low range and back lock differential??? i mean yes i don't do off road all day every day but when I do I like to do it in all comfort....
Nice review, the roads look dangerous in Greece. I would go for the base but good luck finding one unless Porsche dealers bring them in???? My wife went to Volvo twice with her check book in hand and Volvo did not want to get her a base XC 60. She went to Lexus and bought a Base NX and waited 6 weeks to get it from Japan but Lexus did get one.
Porsche has a license with Apple only for the time being because Google wanted more car and driving data to be provided to them and Porsche said no. Apple wanted less data which Porsche was OK with.
CarandDriver tested the base Cayenne, and scored 4.9 seconds to 60 mph. Cayenne S came in at 4.2-4.3. So the official numbers are lower than actual, just like with the X5 .
Does Porsche made available driver's gloves that would not leave scoff marks on the instrument switches? I am very against leaving finger prints on the panels, one of the reason that I prefer the previous design with the many push buttons. What was the last year made with these buttons.
Excellent review as usual. The front grill is.... iffy? All in all it looks good. For that glass dash I would drive around with a microfiber rag to wipe it clean. Being a Little OCD I kind of like the idea. lol..
Disappointed they didn't update the exterior front and side profile. He is right, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. But the current model already looks dated to me. Going to have to pass on this 2019.
Love the vid brother but I must be doing something wrong. I live in Cali and make good $ reasonable speaking, but man - how do you afford a $90k car once you add in dynamic options? Keep up the good work if you can get it. Cheers.
Great review, I agree with Porsche its not meant for Android users, Apple Car Play is way nicer, I have used both. Android Auto is complicated and it reflects a tier two product.
lets break this down. driving an expensive vehicle simply because you can afford to due to success doesn't mean you're "compensating for something", you just like having the latest vehicle. it may mean you have an inability to delay gratification. and to mr. asterisks, if he could afford a trackhawk which is essentially a $100,000 srt with a little more horsepower, he could certainly afford a $120,000 cayenne turbo. there are people that can afford nicer cars, and that is ok. lets all stop this notion of he drives a porsche, he has a little dick and he drives a supersized ford suv, so he must also be compensating for a small dick.
Khu NoPie I for one don’t mind if the car companies are paying for travel and lodging, this allows the little guys an opportunity to test these cars. If not these independent journalists wouldn’t be able to do the numbers of reviews that they do. I know it seems like a conflict but it’s just a car review, which is simply entertainment for 99.9% of the viewers.
How did you find the new center console? One of my favorite things about the previous generation was the amount of physical buttons. Were you able to operate it while driving with no tactile feedback? Seems like a step in the wrong direction
I prefer the old design more as well, but the new 12.3-inch screen is stunning. I've learned that people adjust after a short time but the old buttons were better.
It seems as though this is Porsche’s answer to the Maserati Levante. Upped the horsepower (and price) of the base model and made the grill wider in the front. I like the back of the Porsche better. It’s a definite improvement, but the Levante is quicker, more luxurious inside and more roomy. Think the Cayenne has more room in the boot. All told, I think the Levante is a better option at that price.
Ib7 h You are actually incorrect. The base Cayenne used to have 300 horsepower and is now 350. It also used to start at 63K and is now in the 73K range. 0-60, the base Maserati is much quicker than the Cayenne and the S Maser is also quicker than the S Cayenne. Now, the Turbo Cayenne is another story, but it is also another 25K over the S models. I’ve owned both my friend, and while both are good vehicles, I would take the Maser. It drives smoother. Handles better. And is FAR more luxurious. I do like the rear on the new Cayenne though. Can’t go wrong either way.
I have a question on reliability. I have heard a few people saying Porsche has a strong reputation for reliabilty but the repairs anyways are going to be really expensive right?
Sang Eeth well my friend pays 400 bucks for a simple oil change while still under guarantee. I hope you get where I am going.
7 років тому+1
CNHabs... Sounds like your friend is a moron. 5 quarts of oil is about $30 to $40 max, oil filter $10 to $12, crush rings $1... That's a conservative estimate. The rest is for the "labor". Anyone who thinks BMW, Audi, or Porsche use magical and unique motor oil and filters is being deceived. Most newer cars also have longer service intervals. My current car needs the oil changed every 10k miles.
Having owned a 2004 Cayenne turbo since new: Oil change, 8 qts of synthetic plus filter at the dealer was $150 and included complete checks of everything, all fluids and even brake checks. Warranty covered virtually all of the early (as in new model) failures like ignition coils, drive shaft center bearing, coolant tubes, etc. Since those early mistakes were upgraded there have been virtually no failures. There are occasional glitches from the electronics but a simple reset always fixes it. I have ordered a new 2019 Cayenne Turbo with all options.
No, not really. Oil changes every 10K for $150, most of which I did myself. The only thing I did not get covered under warranty was the center bearing which I also installed myself. BUT I have had the absolute pleasure of driving a very powerful, fast, and amazingly great handling car that is the best autostrasse cruiser on the planet
Norm McDonald must be having a tough time getting work if he is reviewing cars. But I like the redesigned back end. Front looks a little Maserati ish, but not as fierce. Inside looks great. Like an airplane cockpit. Between a base Cayenne and base Maser, I’d go with the Maser. Faster. More comfortable inside. And handles better.
Love that this dude is like "Me and a guy I know own Porsches and Android phones, therefor the millions of dollars in market research and hundreds of hours of data analysis that Porsche does isn't valid." The plural of anecdote is NOT data.
Porsche are moving away from Diesels due to the latest diesel scandal - I have the 4.2 V8 Diesel S and there will be no equivalent in the new model - shame because I believe 385HP coupled to 850 NM Torque (unless you chip it to 420 HP and 1000+ torque) is the most fun you can ever have in a diesel vehicle :-)
Yep a nice car, nice features . I guess Volkswagen group shares that "green car technology " to all its members. It made Volkswagen famous or infamous depends through whose eyes it is seen. Let's give Porsche a round of applauses !
Had my first Porsche experience yesterday on a test drive of the 2018 Cayenne turbo and I have to say I wasn't that impressed. Currently own the BWM X5 40e and was eager to try the Cayenne after watching so many reviews. The steering was horrible, it felt heavy and took effort to steer. Makes me wonder if something was wrong with it. Along with that the steering wheel felt small and less grippy than my m sport wheel in the beamer. I thought when I got my BMW that there was little storage space but the Cayenne takes that to the next level with virtually no storage in the front area to place any belongings(center console very small as well). The cup holders are oddly placed right in front of the armrest so if you have a sizable cup in there you will have to work around it if you want to keep your hand on the shifter for manual mode. Really wanted it to love the cayenne maybe I will go back and try the 19 model to see if there is a difference.
Since you own a classic 911, I think that makes you an authority on what defines a Porsche. I've had COUNTLESS arguments with my uncle about what constitutes a Porsche. I maintain that all Porsches must have styling that answers to the 911, good handling, a transmission that is well-suited to the power and torque curves of its engine and it must always remain a driver's car. He insists that a Porsche is only a Porsche if it has its engine in the back. I've cited you in the past in debates I've had with my uncle because you're the owner of classic 911 and you love certain varriants of the Panamera and Cayenne, like the bulk of Porsche enthusiasts'. I need to hear it from you. What is 'your' definition of Porsche?
My kids have them, I don't like them at all. No back button kills the whole experience and the photos from the Samsung S8 leave the iPhone in the dust.
Smart kids. My biggest concern with Android is that, as with all things Google, your eyes are their product. They sell 'views'. Security is certainly not a concern of theirs. See Daniel Maia's comment below.
Was thinking of getting this one. Unfortunately as I love the interior the exterior is almost same like old version and especially front bumper is just to ugly for me to justify purchase.
He doesn’t buy the No Android infotainment system argument, because he knows only two people with Android phones.... Most people I know with Cayennes use an iPhone.
An annoying trend in SUV design is zooming l doing l sloping the rear window forward too far forward sacrificing vertical space towards the test. At least there's still the Benz G-Wagon

VW and Audi have Android Auto...
Its probably why siri sucks
Apple collects all data. Their mantra of privacy will one day come undone. They are in the data business like all of Big Tech.
Wonderful review as always straight to the point and easy to understand.good work done
That grill looks like a black mouth guard, once you see it, it can't be unseen
what is it filming? like that's a big camera for ice mud and rocks to find.
That big camera in the front grill looks a little odd in my opinion
Peyton That was probably his camera; it's in some driving shots and not in the beauty shots.
Peyton it's not a camera...it's the radar for the adaptive cruise control.
Peyton i like it!!!!!!
most new luxury suv 2018+ will be gettin that radar infront of the cars..
It's there to stare back at deer.
Nice to have Porsche giving cars for review in my Country
Great to see you driving around Crete and a great video also. I've had experience of driving around Crete in my salad days. However in those days my car was a Citroen 2CV but I'm sure I had just as much fun back then as you had in the video! :-))
Drove past one yesterday and you really have to look closely to notice that this is the new generation, especially from the front
thanks for great reviews ,but i appreciate your great gifts to in your fitness, personality, your love and affection for cars, people and the world at large..
I am getting mine in February 19, cant wait
so what happened to the low range and back lock differential??? i mean yes i don't do off road all day every day but when I do I like to do it in all comfort....
Good review

Great review as always Zack.
Just placed a deposit on the 2019 Cayenne. Thanks for validating my purchase!
Lucky bugger !!
Samuel Chow rich man. Hope u don't use this car for bad moves like chasing around snow bunnies! 🤗
Porsche has a license with Apple only for the time being because Google wanted more car and driving data to be provided to them and Porsche said no. Apple wanted less data which Porsche was OK with.
Interesting

This Cayenne has my name on it! Love it!!!
I really don’t understand why none of the new Porsche’s have a HUD. They’re so damn handy in the right implementation, and are a great safety feature.
Oh but they do, for a price!
Would be nice to see you review the Macan and hear your opinions. Thanks!
There are several reviews on the channel, have a look
Does Porsche made available driver's gloves that would not leave scoff marks on the instrument switches? I am very against leaving finger prints on the panels, one of the reason that I prefer the previous design with the many push buttons. What was the last year made with these buttons.
They should install a napkin dispenser for cleaning the center console, micro napkins with Porsche logo !
We have one. It is just awesome in every way. We love it and never regret it. But then we actually own one...
Excellent review as usual. The front grill is.... iffy? All in all it looks good. For that glass dash I would drive around with a microfiber rag to wipe it clean. Being a Little OCD I kind of like the idea. lol..
So crazy when Cadillac did the shiny plastic they were torn to pieces but when Porsche, Benz or Audi does it there is hardly a comment.
Great review!
Disappointed they didn't update the exterior front and side profile. He is right, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. But the current model already looks dated to me. Going to have to pass on this 2019.
We own 2 Porsche's too and are also android users! Loving your reviews. Looking to add an SUV but we are in between this or the Levante
Get them both believe me 😁
Love the vid brother but I must be doing something wrong. I live in Cali and make good $ reasonable speaking, but man - how do you afford a $90k car once you add in dynamic options? Keep up the good work if you can get it. Cheers.
Thomas H it’s not meant to be affordable to everyone and that’s the point
Not a fan of the center console, it looks like they didn't put the electronically controlled vents in from the Panamera. Are you gonna buy one Zack?
Great review, I agree with Porsche its not meant for Android users, Apple Car Play is way nicer, I have used both. Android Auto is complicated and it reflects a tier two product.
2019? Is it Delorean from back in the future?
Hello sir , which one you think buy ? Porshe Turbo or GTS or ....?
What color blue is this?
Is there heads up display in the 2018 Cayenne?
great review! Thanks
Every time there was a front view, all I could see was that enormous camera.
Best luxury sports car. Period!
have you mixed up your calendar with 1 year?
Great review, thanks for the details and info!
I think I'd actually take the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk over the Turbo. Resale value would suck in comparison but much better performance
00 3 wow you clearly compensate for something
lets break this down. driving an expensive vehicle simply because you can afford to due to success doesn't mean you're "compensating for something", you just like having the latest vehicle. it may mean you have an inability to delay gratification. and to mr. asterisks, if he could afford a trackhawk which is essentially a $100,000 srt with a little more horsepower, he could certainly afford a $120,000 cayenne turbo.
there are people that can afford nicer cars, and that is ok. lets all stop this notion of he drives a porsche, he has a little dick and he drives a supersized ford suv, so he must also be compensating for a small dick.
The only gripe I have would be that is not going to be available for almost a year. One of the things that porsche used to be more direct with.
Please can you talk a bit more about daily driving. Thanks
Disclosure Statement - Did Porsche pay your way to Greece?
Khu NoPie I for one don’t mind if the car companies are paying for travel and lodging, this allows the little guys an opportunity to test these cars. @Motormouth Canada: Any idea when the new s-hybrid is expected to come out?
If you follow the introduction of the Panamera following the regular car, it will be about six months. At least within a year.
can you try to prey for the info if a cayenne coupe is in their plans?
Looks like the best !
Great review as always!
Dear Santa..we are getting close to that time of year, you know....
The best practical car in the world.
I have always hated cayennes. I think this is beautiful.

So no turbo S?
Originally you could get it with a manual, I wish the Macan had a limited manual edition:)
Yes I want to buy this finally a review
simply the best
Here is what I want in a vehicle: comfort, grip, technology and build quality. Should I get the Cayenne or X5?
For the Interior I would go with X5
I have a question on reliability. I have heard a few people saying Porsche has a strong reputation for reliabilty but the repairs anyways are going to be really expensive right?

Like an airplane cockpit. Between a base Cayenne and base Maser, I’d go with the Maser. Faster. More comfortable inside. And handles better.
Porsche is owned by Volkswagen Group , but I believe Porsche is the largest shareholder financially...
Base on the specs Porsche gave, the cargo space is actually smaller than last generation, are you sure the cargo room is bigger?
+Leon Liu yes 100 litres
Thanks~
Essentially, the car maker just produce one iconic car, then you'll get strip down version for ones couldn't afford the most expensive one.
Zack, at the bottom of the description it reads 23.3 inch screen which must be a typo (you say 12.3 in the video).
Thanks, fat finger when typing.
How did you make your first million?
every car reviewer who has no idea how aerodynamics work=car looks the same! reality/physics isnt a hollywood movie.
Does it come in Diesel?
In Europe
Meh. The front look unfinished to me. I do like the interior design. Good review, Motormouth.
I called my dealer who said they can’t budge on price because it’s a new model. Is this true or is it just dealer bullsh*t?
very nice
Love that this dude is like "Me and a guy I know own Porsches and Android phones, therefor the millions of dollars in market research and hundreds of hours of data analysis that Porsche does isn't valid." The plural of anecdote is NOT data.
Would you consider the cayenne the most band for your buck Porsche?
Can’t wait for a seven seater Porsche lol
I keep hearing that these are expensive to fix once you have problems with them.

Staggered tires? Pointless extravagance.

Android users always manage to make things a tad more difficult for everyone 🤭🤣.
What is lacking for it to be perfect?
Since you own a classic 911, I think that makes you an authority on what defines a Porsche. I've had COUNTLESS arguments with my uncle about what constitutes a Porsche. I'll answer this on my live Q&A on Monday. Sound good?
Sure thing!
$75500 cad equals $76400 aud, however the previous model cost over $120000 in Australia, guess Porsche CEO doesn't like Australia.
Older version exterior is better, but new version interior design is more modern.
Time to get an iPhone Zack. :-)
Zack, what trim level are you considering to purchase?
It’s due to security and data concerns on why they don’t support android
It's not even 2018...
Oceanic Flight it's actually already Dec 4 2018 in Stuttgart
Why did you tell me that it is now owned by Volkswagen?
The Porsche family always owned Volkswagen not the other way around.
The cayenne is starting to look like the Urus...
Was thinking of getting this one. Unfortunately as I love the interior the exterior is almost same like old version and especially front bumper is just to ugly for me to justify purchase.
It's damping not dampening. This guy is paid to do this?
The Sounds of the Suburbs : he’s speaking Canadian
@@erikhertzer8434 I'm American, but I grew up in Canada. He's speaking dumbass who doesn't know aboot cars...
Dream Car!!! I will get you one day
He doesn’t buy the No Android infotainment system argument, because he knows only two people with Android phones.... Most people I know with Cayennes use an iPhone.
Why do Americans and Canadians give cars the wrong year? It’s a 2018 model, not 2019.
Android user here too. Shopping for my second Porsche
2018 is not only came and your showing 2019 you are mad
An annoying trend in SUV design is zooming l doing l sloping the rear window forward too far forward sacrificing vertical space towards the test.
At least there's still the Benz G-Wagon
the front bumper looks ugly..rear one is awesome
