    Spot on again brother, My old man has a access on his ram , It's held up for about 5-6 years so far through the brutal Chicago winters and hellish summers and repeated drive thru car washes , definitely a good product. The only thing that has worn is the little rubber logo stitched on the end .

      IBTJC 4Life , it's never been wet , he keeps it constantly covered. I just looked one up for my 2500 and there is a picture of a guy shoveling snow out of one on there website, it also makes mention to its water and mold resistance I believe

    An Access cover is the 1st accessory purchased for any I've truck bought in the past 10 years. They look great, hold up well and the company stands behind their product. Had an issue with the hook & loop that they resolved without question.

    Wanted to stop by and say thank you,
    I've been planning for a future in an RV fulltime now for the past three years. I wanted to thank you for making the decision on which truck to go with a lot easier. I've referred your videos to a lot of people and many say they are great as well. I really trust the information you are putting out.

    Just bought a new Ram and was debating to get the tri-fold or the roll up cover. I found out that in order to use all of my bed, the tri-fold would have to be partially disassembled from the bed. Then you're stuck either putting inside the bed or placing somewhere for storage.
    The roll up cover was the best choice! Sleekest look and easy access to my entire bed sold me on it.

    Thank you for this video. Your choice makes perfect sense given what you're doing with your truck and how it's configured. Choosing the right cover can be very confusing as there are so many choices out there! I went with a hard Lomax cover because of the equipment I'm carrying and I need it to be locking/more secure than a soft cover is. I didn't go with the roll "in" style because I have the 5.5' bed and I need every inch on the inside. As my needs change, I may consider a camper shell instead of a tonneu cover - that is, unless I decide that a 5th wheel is better ... (in which case I have to sell the F150 and get a 350 or something stronger and this becomes academic).

    Great looking cover...I have a Retrax. You can stand on it, and it is retractable and locks with a key at any point. I think the Access cover is a close second only because it doesn't lock at any point. Great review and video!

  • @Minionmoto529
    @Minionmoto529 7 років тому +1

    tanaue covers are nice they do service a good purpose. personally i'd rather have a cab hi single rear window camper shell because it does cover the bed and you can still have full access to the bed, but yet again if you're pulling a 5th wheel/ goosneck a camper wouldn't be a good idea.

    I have the Smitty Built Beaver step also. Looks good on your truck too. I came in handy when I was rear ended at a car wash. The lady never put her car in Nuetral and ran right into my Beaver step. Not a scratch on my bumper but it destroyed her good and grille. I have to say. I'm surprise a with your knowledge of various products that a Revolver Tonneau Cover wouldn't have for your needs more effectively. It definitely offers more security over your Access cover as yours is vulnerable to being cut.

      Can you actually stand on top of Retrax cover and having 2 chairs on top ? My Arkansas winters are bad with solid ice and snow has ruining my truck soft vinyl cover making deep holes in each section between the covers inside tubing rail long length stretching the vinyl almost making actual holes almost and when it dries out it blows up unlocking the cover flapping away near the tailgate and almost loosing items in my truck bed. I hating winter time and rain storms ruining my cover.

    I really liked the Access cover and ordered one for my 2016 Silverado. After installing the cover, I'm thinking I may have a clearance problem when towing my 5th wheel down the driveway when leaving. The driveway has somewhat of a steep slop from the fence to the curb (About 30 feet or so). Before the cover was installed, I probably had 1 to 1-1/2' clearance from the bottom of the 5th wheel to the top rail of the bed. I'm also wondering if I should raise the level of the ball on my Anderson hitch. The current level is perfect for towing.

  • @geebonzo

    I put 303 protectant on a cheap Amazon cover. It's held up for 4 years. The installation system is about the same, and it's really well thought out. The one I have has a sketchy latch. You really don't want stuff in the rain and snow. Nice truck. I was hoping you'd go with a Bollinger B1.

    Great review! - Does this cover have the ability to move the end point if needed? Explanation: I mostly would want everything covered except the tool box just like you've got it set up in this video, but... Sometimes I need to use a truck bed mount water tank which sticks up about a foot over the top line of the bed. Is it possible on those times to either move the forward end point of the cover back some to accommodate the water tank, or possibly get a second cover section that's shorter to accommodate it? In other words, is the front end point of the cover easily movable or would it have to be reinstalled?

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  7 років тому +1

      Start The Rebellion: It's very easy to remove the front mounting point, but I'm not sure it would be convenient.

      mr.potato head: true, but you'd still have to really work to get anything big out of the back. Also, most solid covers can be defeated by simply pulling up hard on the rear most flap. Example was my Extang Solid Fold.

    Toolbox pulling a 5th wheel?? I own a 2017 F350 like the one in the video, I can't find a clear cut answer to if there are any issues with an above bed rail cross bed tool while pulling a 5th wheel. I would like to have the same set up you have in this video and I pull a 2017 Montana High Country 5th wheel. I am wondering about clearance in sharp turns. Thank you!

    You forgot to mention; A pocket knife will ruin your day and a replacement canvas is not available.

    I got the back flip. Works perfect with my 5er set up. Safe and secure. You can cut right through that roll up cover.

    I've always had the hard covers. How well does this soft cover keep water out of the bed of the truck?

      Dirt00racer: it keeps my bed 99.9% dry. I love that aspect of it.

      When it does leak it just leaks along the edge

    Where is that tiny bit of water believed to be entering the bed? Tested hrough a complete downpour yet? Do think it could survive the weight of an overnight snow storm where a foot or more could accumulate?

    Obviously you can't enter a modern car wash with a dually but how do you think the cover would perform under the pressure of the wash Blowers?

      Michael Kelly I had this cover on my 2015 F250 and took it threw car washes with the blowers all the time and had no issue, they are really durable.

    Love your videos! We bought the same truck you bought. Can you tell me the model # of your Weather guard tool box and can you tell me how high it rides above the bed rails? We only have 7 inches of clearance from the bed rail to the underside of the 5th wheel while in a 90 degree angle. Just looked at some toolboxes but the height above rails was 7", so would not work. Brand new to the big truck and big RV world as we traded an F150 and a tow behind travel trailer!

    Great video and thank you for all the excellent information! I have a 2015 Ram 3500 longbed dually. Do not need the toolbox version, which would you suggest? And thank you.

      Scott Barr: They have a none toolbox version as well. It really depends on if you are leaning towards a hard or soft cover. Im not going back to hard covers, they leaked too much for me.

    Does the cover flap in the wind or balloon at all as you're going down the highway (like most soft covers do)?

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  7 років тому

      Bradley Morris: its moves a little in the center with wind but absolutely does not flap or appear to bexome unstable at all.

      i just received my access toolbox cover. still shopping for the right tool box. I have looked at the weatherguard, but is the bottom on that really strong? the one in the store seem to flex more than I thought it would. Is that the Part Number: 127-5-02?
