Intend on doing volunteer work in the community it's a major move but the US no longer shares our values. We do not intend to take Mexican jobs nor welfare. Always welcome, just one thing: San Miguel is not only beautiful houses and streets, it is also a Mexican community with history, traditions and social challenges. It is NOT a Disney style cute little town available to gentrify it. We appreciate so many fantastic US friends being part of the solution of community’s problems all around Mexico. Regards.
Thanks for the tips! Yes, in hindsight we took the advice of the owner and parked there, but should have looked for a overnight parking lot. What are the chances for one night. 😂😂

I don't understand why people leave the negatives of a town like San Miguel. It's not nearly as safe as they portray. Don't rely on UA-cam alone for your information.
If you had come to Florida during the Covid shut down you’d have found the same thing. Everything was closed of course. Many businesses didn’t reopen. The shut down destroyed them. Things are back to normal w/ new shops & cafes, the high cost of gas & housing, heavy traffic, high insurance costs, low wages, etc…

The Cambridge Dictionary defines an expat as: “someone who does not live in their own country” And it defines an immigrant as: “a person who has come to a different country in order to live there permanently” So, we can see that both terms can be applied to someone that has moved out of their native country to live abroad. Often, an immigrant is seen as someone who has moved to another country permanently, and an expat may be seen to have moved to a country temporarily. Expats may be more likely to move around than an immigrant.
