this man is really giving us a whole netflix episode for free. hit that like button yall. great work taku and jocelyn
AGREED!!!!
Refreshing to listen to him and not yelling like the other youtubers. It’s natural and honest.
That's what I always think about fisherman's life and all his buddies everyone of them seem so genuine
@@st-gb9lx yeah they're good group
pretty childish throwing shots at catch em all fishing tho.
No matter where Taku goes, no matter what he forages/catches and cooks for us, the best part of every one of his videos is his infectious joy for what he is doing. You can really tell he loves and appreciates his life and it’s what separates him from many other content creators!
Almost 40 minutes of content and it somehow still felt too short. That's how you know you guys are great! I could watch you for hours!
You can straight up feel how happy Taku is in this video ... that moment he ate the raw spot prawn ... like Frank the Tank in Old School when he hit that beer funnel.
OHHH LOL good comparison! "Once it hits your lips!"
Eating a raw spot prawn like this out of the cold water is on my bucket list. I just imagine it being so salty sweet and delicious!
Thank you, I laughed so hard right now at your comment.
I never tried raw shrimp so I was feeling hesitant for him. Then I remembered that as a white Euro-decendant male, I truly love raw clams and oysters. So, I'll go for it, given a chance!
Hahah! 🏆 “C’mon honey! We’re streakin!” ☺️🤘🏽
I’d rather have a vacation like this than go to some all inclusive resort. Excellent 👍👍
I recently learned that all inclusive resorts are all inclusive in the first place because the areas they are in aren’t safe for people to leave. Kind of ruins the vibe.
or expensive overrated theme parks
Can confirm
Never really thought about Alaska as being on my bucket list. This has definitely brought it closer.
@@Fuhrious Oh, wow. That's pretty creepy, actually.
The production on this video is top notch. PB in all categories on the video.
Taku’s passion for food and the relationship between Jocelyn and Taku shows in a surprisingly refreshing yet subtle way in terms of lifestyle channels here on UA-cam. I hope you don’t change this format.
I don't think I've ever seen Taku look so giddy and happy as when he was trying to sneak that prawn. Also this is possibly the best episode I've seen, what a beautiful place to visit!
Giving her the rod to catch their first Alaskan river salmon. NOW THAT's LOVE
Just the other day I watched a video my best friend sent me a video of his little girl fishing off the dock at a campsite we (group of best friends) have been going to for 20 years. She was so excited to be fishing with her dad and it was so neat because when his wife was pregnant the way they told everyone they were going to have a girl was they had me take a picture of my buddy and his wife holding a sign saying "it's a girl!" at the same dock. It was really wonderful to see things full circle. I'm not sure why I shared this with you but the vibe I got from this video made me think of it. Anyway Cheers to you and yours!
My god, Kate is shooting on without an ND filter in the wilderness.... The mad lass
Also, seeing Taku eat that shrimp raw, and holding back his smile... That was a magical moment.
twice!
Yum!!! Raw shrimp right from the Ocean, so yummy!!!🌹❤!!!
I love how this dude is so happy and doing what he’s passionate about for a living. Keep having fun brother.
The Ladies "What happened to all the prawns??"
Taku "THe octopus must of ate them"
As soon as I saw spot prawn I clicked so fast!! 🤤🤤
The best!!
Taku you’re amazing man
U both rock love you guys channel.
Yay Addicted too.
Your not the only one.lol
I can feel the excitement and good vibes through my damn screen. Thank you Chef for letting us live through you.
Watching Taku always puts a smile on my face. No other channel has been able to make me smile genuinely. If I have to guess it'll probably be the honesty and quality passion you have for sharing these videos. I aspire to be someone like you Taku!
The happiest Taku has ever been.
Taku out here gaining the strength of an Alaskan salmon by eatin it's raw heart.
He has now gained the power to paddle upstream.
😅😅
More like he could have gained a parasitic seal worm infection, but ok….
@@benf8706 No one likes this guy Ben. Dont be this guy. Learn to read a joke..
Taku with the Indigenous land acknowledgement! This channel is hands down my favorite on UA-cam
Lmfao I lived in southeast my whole life and never heard of these people helping any of us. They just want attention
@@ItzzTesta you need to get out more. I've lived in the PNW for most of my life and have always traded with first nation's for fresh seafood.
“Taku Tuesday” featuring Taku holding a live tako
And then make takoyaki?
Lol Taku, when everyone’s working, sneak another prawn quick!!!! So amazing watching your journey. And again with the epic cook!
One of the most epic feasts to date!!!
Ohhh yesss, a nice long episode.
dude you are surrounded by some genuinely wholesome people
I ♥ how when he switched to the chest cam, you can hear his heart thumping! After 28:00
Soooo jealous man...you and Joslyn are so lucky. Life is short, enjoy, glad you are enjoying....
I’m a simple man. I see outdoor chef life, I watch
My kids of 4 and 5 love watching your videos
Alaska has the friendliest people
I spent a summer living in Soldotna, Alaska. I had an endless supply of fresh seafood. All the roommates were harvesting max catch of halibut, salmon, razor clams and mussels.
Heck yeah
That sounds like heaven!
Watching from Cambodia! Love watching your videos
@22:22 My mouth was watering. Excellent. Best
this video made me feel so warm inside.
You can hear Taku's heart pounding when he set the hook on the first Salmon! haha Nice job!
The crew must be soo lucky to have you cook for them! I am so jealous!
Octopus. They do have a beak that will bite you and you don’t feel it. Caught one diving and put him over my hand. Pulled him off and was bleeding 🩸. Then the mild pain started for a few days and left a little scar that has been there for thirty years as a reminder.
Apparently all octopuses (as well as cuttlefish and some squid) are venomous 🐙
@@KN-xl6lw Whoa i didn't know that octopus is venomous..
Okay, I should stick to plant based diet
I absolutely love Sitka, when I'm not working, you know I'll be fishing.. Great content.
So great to see you and everyone happy keep that way
Had a smile on my face through the whole vid! Makes me want to go live in Alaska. Thanks Taku!
Damnit!
Every time I watch his videos, I get an uncontrollable URGE to eat sushi.....spend 1/2 my paycheck, because he keeps making it look so amazing!
Beautiful place, good food, good Taku, good companions 🎉
Thanks for shouting out the native peoples
I think when a lot folks have a shellfish allergy it’s often from the crustaceans. Shrimp, crab, lobster, crawfish etc. I’m mortally allergic to those types but I can eat the mollusks variety of squid, octopus, oysters and mussels. But better to be safe especially when you’re on a boat and far from help.
That spread looked SO good. One of the best videos you've made so far. Ahh alaska looks so peaceful and relaxing.
Beautiful scenery, wonderful people, delicious food, what more could you ask for in life, right?
Such a cool channel, been watching for a year ,stay pure, natural, enjoy what you and Jocelyn are thanks just a rummy that likes your content
I'm really jealous on this one, what a privilege to eat fresh prawn like that.
Personally I would have let go of the Giant Pacific (just out of love for the animal), but I can't blame you for wanting it. Hope you guys keeping have crazy wonderful adventures like this one 💗
Sincerely, some Sushi cook in Canada
My mouth is watering. I love deep sea prawns. So sweet.
Wow…what a way to start off your Alaskan trip!!!
Rv life, fishing, good food…with your girl
Can’t get much better….’’salud’’ 🍻
This is the best catch and cook episode I've ever watched just stumbled upon this video. Amazing wholesome content wow
"First Alaskan salmon, lets eat the beating heart!"
hahah man you're a beast. i love it! Looks like a great time with great people. Alaska is so beautiful! Thanks for this one, I really enjoyed it
Taku’s gettin’ back to the land!
I didn't know AK was this beautiful.. wow
I live , work, and raise a family in juneau...I love it
Dan I'm trying to get my hubby to move there from Australia. The only reason he won't go is because of the extreme cold which is the reason I want to go and of course the beauty of the state and the seafood of course. Michelle
Really? lol It's like one of the most beautiful places on Earth..
@@bohemiangypsy99 AK/Canada does get cold but it's doable... :) why don't you guys visit the region in the winter and see how it is?
@@danf8047 I've been trying to get him to visit for many years and now unfortunately he will be 70 this year and I will be 65. So our time to move country has to now be wishful thinking on my part. All I can do is watch videos like Simple Living Alaska which is my favourite channel to watch and there are some others too. I love Taku's channel too so I am glad he got to go to Alaska as well. Thankyou for the suggestion though I appreciate it Dan. Michelle
As soon as I seen Kate I instantly gave her my heart through the screen 😂
I love how excited you are in your videos. Gets me pumped to go out myself. Thanks for sharing. Have fun up there.
*Eats beating heart* "We're just having kind of uhh a relaxing morning"
This might be my all time favorite episode. What a cool crew - I'd love to hang out with all of them! So happy to see you all having fun in such a wonderful place :-)
One of my favorite place on Earth! Great vid guys! Enjoy every minute of your trip up there!
You used the right noodles! I'm sending this to my gf. Seafood is something we all love in many ways. She taught me there is only one type of noodles for pansit, lumpia and everything else. Wish I could find it where I live now. You proved yourself and are now 1 of my favs!
Spot prawns are so damn good, their heads are delicious fried too. My favorite shrimp as well. So jealous.
So glad you made it across!! Can't wait to see al the content coming!!
So beautiful landscapes and great quality of life in wilderness
Spot prawn, octopus, and salmon in one video? Truly one of the great episodes of OCL
Taku's giggling is the ASMR we all need
@9:41
Taku looks like the kid who just stole candy from grandma’s candy dish
they look so good. so pure and clear
Probably the coolest, nicest people on UA-cam
When taku secretly ate that shrimp 😂😂😂
You can hear how hard Taku's heart was pounding fighting the salmon. 👀
About as hard as the salmon's heart
I have Been watching your channel grow. You are one of my all time favorites. Just wanted to say I am vicariously on vacation with you in Alaska and happy for you both. Peace and love.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so genuinely happy from food
I feel bad for Kate since she can't really eat everything Taku made...
Hopefully one day allergies can be ridded of. People miss out so much on amazing food.
Didn’t the spring rolls have spot prawns in it? Kate ate one. I’m so confused
@@booutdoors2349 i saw that to. I was concerned but most likely there was no prawns in it since if there was everyone there would've said something.
@@scylla8247 I find it odd that while people don't get illnesses like chicken pox anymore, yet so many people are riddled with a plethora of lifelong, and even life-threatening, food allergies.
damn antivaxxers can pop out of no where just to start saying baseless claims

I spit my water LMAO. Keep up the good content!
This couple is living their dreams... Congrats.... I've been following Taku since he only had a couple thousand subscribes... Cheers
This is the good side of youtube... thank you for the wonderful content.
Need to come up into the arctic would love to fish and cook with you here in my village. Shishmaref alaska is also where it’s at.
Can I come too?
The look of euphoria when eating those fresh shrimp. I need to experience that eu-food-ria
Went to Sitka via cruise ship but this experience was a thousand times better. Awesome video. Will be going back in May 2022.
I am addicted to these videos!!! I've learned that even if you've never tasted a specific seafood that Taku prepares you WILL crave it after and have to try it! I've been trying a lot of this stuff at my local sushi restaurant and it's all delicious. I wish that the octopus was less chewy cause the flavor is out of this world, imho.
Thank you Taku and Jocelyn for your hard work and sharing your passion with the rest of us.
“What was it like drinking with Taku?” “He bonked me on the head with a 🍾 and ate my still beating heart. 10/10 would go again.”
Hey taku, are you guys coming near anchorage at all? If so I’d like to meet you guys and show you some local fishing spot
I would give anything to be able to move up there. Alaska is the best place on earth.
Once again, you got my mouth watering chef Taku. Another great video you two!
There's just something so exhilarating about seeing fish jumping and sight casting for them. The hookup is unreal! Loved this so much. Btw, what rod were you using for casting your mepps spinner?
Looked like an Ugly Stik
Yeah, when he caught that second fish I saw Ugly Stick on the rod.
Looks amazing! You deserve everything good that is happening to you!
The moment you thought you casted too far was actually perfect lol
Also what is a good tasting IPA beer that you would recommend for a newbie?
I really enjoy hayburners but it’s a local beer here from buffalo. So who knows if you can get it
This is one of the best UA-cam videos.
Jocelyn has the best smile :) Love the videos Taku, thank you!!
Seven poor, jealous souls had no recourse but to hit the “unlike button.” Let’s all pray for them…

Might be due to 🐙
Vegans maybe
The crazy ones that is
Probably PETA
Feel so sorry for Cate. Everything looks so good and she can't try it.
She ate the spring rolls which has prawn in it.
@@jajajajalaclaclac373 i noticed that too lolll
@@gbaby3281 shellfish allergic reactions isnt as bad as peanut tho so i guess shell be okay just not a good time tho.
@@jajajajalaclaclac373 He probably made some special for her that she could eat
@@TraciCuber probably but according to what we see in the vid it was the girls who made the springrolls and not taku but i hope what you assume is correct.
3:29 that orange and green land mass between the trees and the water look just like a giant halibut!
This place is so heavenly... WoW...
It breaks my heart to see she can't eat no shell fish. 😥
I'll never eat octopus again after watching "My Octopus Teacher" on Netflix.
Good documentary!
I’ve seen it but I still eat octopus. No doubt on their intelligence but they have short life spans which make them a sustainable food source and not to mention they taste amazing. Also if you’re reasoning for not eating them is their intelligence, hope you’re staying away from beef as well.
I love watching Taku on his fishing adventures. It’s so satisfying just watching him create such beautiful meals out his catches and foraging. It’s so relaxing! Love him and Jocelyn on their adventures! Keep rolling!
I Love spot prawn....what a amazing adventure.
I hate seeing octopus die after seeing the “My Octopus Teacher” documentary 😭😭😭
I know, I know so you don't have to say anything, but I let octopus go. They are just so damn smart.
Hi Taku, sending love to Jocelyn. Congratulations on the beginnings of your new family. Xx
I LOOOOOOOVE SPOT PRAWNS! Drooling over the video!!!
I just wanted to say I love you guys, yalls personality, love, and passion for the outdoors and sustainable living is amazing. I have lived off the land my entire life and enjoy yalls videos.
Anyone who's been watching taku and jocelyn for a while, are so happy for them that they got to make this trip! The pure happiness Taku gets when he got to eat fresh spot prawns is so pure like a kid in a candy store well deserved keep the awesome videos coming!
Beautiful people, beautiful scenery, delicious food, & awesome video!
