Budget. I like how you do not talk about the layoffs but how to prepare if it happens. It's very true that its not one's fault during a retrenchment, it's a business decision.

loads of videos feeding into this narrative this negative feelings all around that i do not feel comfortable at all quite honest. (anything bad or horrible there are many youtubers making videos on and i am not that quite honest)
and also, you have only 1 life, yes it can take time to navigate your journey, but once you do, and it does take time, it will get better.
      appreciate you for your comments!

Budget! Yay, Monday and Wednesday down, excited for Friday's upload.
Not having an emergency fund is an emergency! Never underestimate its importance.
Being one incident (whether retrenchment, accident, illness) away from financial ruin, that can happen any time, under circumstances that could be completely out of your control, is a terrifying thought.

Wah… stress. lol. But glad you are anticipating it!
Also yes, anticipation is also one that can be mentally draining, so why not do away some or most of it by doing the necessary? Then only then you can help yourself before these issues arises.
I know so to tell people to do so
      Appreciate you!

You also brought up a very important point on expenses: Cutting down on expenses that don’t add value; Only spend on things that value add.

That one I realised late on and as I age there are stuff we can actually buy to enrich our lives and I want to at least make known to people that buying stuff need not be just… stuff.
      Thanks for noticing! Appreciate you!

Budget. Another point to add on. Consolidate your consumer debt and take a lower interest rate loan. Start chipping off the debt bit by bit if you are still employed. I agree with you on cutting excesses but i think from a mental well being stand point have some leeway for yourself to enjoy a meal or two if you are going through a tough event like a layoff. Been trying to set up some side hustles but need some guidance from a guru like you . Hope to have kopi with you soon

Thanks Kenny! My direction is a little different and also difficult to tell partly because it’s super personal, but I feel…. My story is one that is interesting enough that many should have something to takeaway from.
It’s not really finance but there will be times I will talk about it as it’s part of my life and how it shaped me till today, for better or worseZ
Loads more to tell to be honest, trying to make sense so that many again can understand.
Which also means, if you can think of it, I most probably…. Done it. lol.😂

I mean its not like we can control the layoffs. So why worry about smtg we cannot control or change? If its you then llst lo. But i agree we need to fix our finances first. That is smtg we can control. If you're couple or married make sure your spouse is still working so at anytime only 1 of you is jobless while the other can still bring in some money.

    • @ASingaporeChipmunk

    • @ASingaporeChipmunk
      @ASingaporeChipmunk  9 годин тому +1

Eh…. It’s normal to be laid off. If you aren’t laid off before, you haven’t worked long enough to know I guess. Sorry ah.
On a serious note I will talk about them in later videos, but if you want to know more why I got laid off, I wait for larger audience then I will tell my story.
There isn’t really any value to any of you right now when a lot of you guys and gals are stressing your own issues then to listen to little old me who ALREADY got laid off.
      Thanks for the comment!

@@ASingaporeChipmunk I am working since 2005 after ORD. Not sure that’s considered long enough. I am not against your opinion but I am just saying the coin have 2 sides and in this topic there are also 2 sides. We should not be too panick of getting laid off but we also should not be totally not thinking about it. That’s why the gov encourage upgrading and constant improving and helping us with the skills future credit. Again I am not totally against your opinion. I just want to say if we know we are Aging in the work force we need to stay open minded and keep active and constantly upgrading ourselves to stay with the tide. We try but then don’t panick.
