I have never even heard of this singer before. And, that is my loss. That was absolutely wonderful. The passion, the involvement in the song were spectacular.
Oh, Bill! Thank you for reacting to this song, and loving it the way you do! When I first heard this live, it touched my soul profoundly. I still get teary eyed when I hear and watch it. I am so happy you reacted to this! Terence changed his name and did write this beautiful song. His story is a kind of sad one, but fascinating. Thank you again, Bill!
I remember him having 2 big hits in Ike ‘87 & ‘88. I don’t know what happened where he didn’t continue to ride that wave, but it seems like he did on a smaller scale. He’s so talented. I’m grateful for the suggestion and for the reaction! Sending lot of love to you and your lovely wife, as well as our badass family we’ve created on this platform.❤️
There are so many artists out there that had a hit or two or perhaps a whole string of them then they seem to 'fade'. But usually, that's not true at all. They're just longer in the mainstream or no longer making radio hits but they are still out there doing their thing. Sending love to you dear sista! ❤️
Glad to see you back Bill really missed your reactions and know you are going through stuff at home. Sign Your name and Wishing Well are the only hits he had here in Europe as far as I know ♥ i loved this reaction! Never heard this song before
How did Sassy fall into a jack-o-lantern?! 😅🤣😂🎃 When Terence came on screen, I was quite startled! In the beginning of this video, he looks and SOUNDS (with his speaking voice) quite a bit like Harry Belafonte (at least in these pictures). His singing voice and style, though, is different ... the same with his "new" entity. I started doing some research, and found out that this is no longer his name. He now goes by Sananda Maitreya. He's really good! Wow! Yes...very James Brown-ish. He also reminds me of Dan Vasc! He has some of the same types of moves, not to mention his enunciation, and that chin vibrato, plus that range, and how he can shift the feeling with a snap of his finger and a few shakes of his (short-haired) head! Again...WOW!!! Thanks for the great reaction, sir! 😀
This artist is definitely one of my faves!! I don't remember his braids being below his shoulders back in the day. He's also an amazing dancer. Here's another great one: Who's Loving You ua-cam.com/video/zBsfHC2EKOw/v-deo.html
Love this! Sign Your Name & Wishing Well were big hits. I'm going to have to bust out my cd! Thank you!!❤❤
Ah, yes! Wishing Well!! I remember that one! ❤️❤️
He was huge in the 80s. Check out "Sign your name (across my heart)", one of his biggest hits.
Oh right! I remember that. As soon as I read the title the melody came right back! Thanks buddy!

I completely agree!
Yes, you have. He just renamed himself. He is actually Terence Trent D’Arby back from the day same gentleman.

I really don’t think anyone else could’ve did this any prouder than Mr.Darby. What A Soulful Entertainer
Woooaaahhh 😮❤ .... This person sings to his music. I'm not sure if that makes sense. But... I really feel like he's singing to the song itself.
Wow! I remember his 2 hits in the 80s. I liked both, but they were nothing like this. That was fantastic!
Absolutely!

Thank you Grandma! Yeah, that Sassy girl found the candy loot! I can see the comparison with Dan, at least in this song!
Terrence Trent Darby is his name, I do remember his, he did double hits that I liked back then and he did have long braided dreds
"Sign Your Name Across My Heart " might be his #1 hit.❤
GOAT like talent he didn't get to be the major superstar that he should have been.
Yes, he had long BRAIDS when he first arrived on the scene. They became so iconic that Milli Vanilli copied the look years later.
I remember him from my high school years. He did have dreads back then.
I thought so!
The only song I remember is "Sign your Name", which was played a lot on the radio. Terence aka Sananda has a great voice.
Ah! that's right! I remember that song now, I just didn't remember that was him. Thank you, buddy!

Sananda Francesco Maitreya was born Terence Trent Howard.
