The New Garage Build - Majic Stairs

- I found Majic Stairs a while back and once I saw them, I knew I had to have them in my new house. Luckily they're local to us, so I had them come over and install them along with a Majic Lift to help get things into the attic.

I love these home improvement uploads , Matt is so good at capturing g and explaining his thoughts reasons why and the execution of installing.
Matt spends more on a temporary house and garage then I can afford to on my entire house LOL
i know it is quite off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream new movies online ?
@Louis Collin i would suggest FlixZone. Just search on google for it =)
@Remington Ayden yea, I have been using FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Remington Ayden thanks, signed up and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it!
@Louis Collin Glad I could help xD
That’s really cool. My wife wants the lift. I can’t even be mad. It looks super convenient. Great job on the install!
When she was going over how the signs mount on the wall, then immediately started going over the warranty card I was dying.
Matt’s mouth: uh huh, okay, cool.
Matt’s brain: those are going directly in the trash.
Ha, ha... Yep. Punted as soon as they walked out the door
I thought the exact same thing 😂😂😂
I thought the same !
I think it's a mandatory thing in the US..? So the company is not liable if anything happens? But yeah, in the bin! 🤣
I am really enjoying these home videos. Very cool stuff being done.
This looks like a pretty sweet setup, and works nicely. Price point isn't too far off track for what you get either.
I might have missed the price. I was trying to find it
@@stevelubs he summed it up at the end. A little over $6k installed for both the stairs and lift.
As a desert dweller, I’m impressed by the size of your hurricane-rated garage door braces.
Matt and Michelle’s 400k fixer-upper that will be 600k, lol. This will be a great test to see what works good and what doesn’t, paving the way for the ultimate house build.
More like 800k st the current pace! Those roller garage doors are going to be $$$$
Agreed, he’s fortunate to have one to remodel with the current home inventory out there! When they sell this it will command premium money for sure
Seems like awesome idea!
I like how Matt used Minnesota as his example of being the far off place where someone might want one of these. Almost every house in MN has a basement and I haven’t seen anyone here with drop down stairs to the attic.
Same here
I had a detached garage built for us on the alleyway at my old house in Minneapolis Minnesota. I wanted a 10x10 shop along side of the 22x 24 garage for added storage (bikes and kids stuff) and a small workshop - my wife vetoed that idea as the added expense was too high (12% over the original $24,000 budget). She also didn’t want to give up the 100 sq ft of the small yard. So we “compromised” and built an attic storage loft with those awful pull down attic ladder type stairs purchased as a kit from the home center. Big mistake. The first time my wife put her head up there she said “these stairs are dangerous”. Yep they are... but she wouldn’t listen during planning as all she heard was the $$$. If I were to do it again I would add a mechanical lift and “normal” stairs to make the attic functional. Those ladder pull down type access points limit what you can store up in the loft.
We sold the house in SW Mpls and moved to the Suburbs three years ago. I now have an oversized heated three car garage with 11 foot ceilings so I added shelving - not a clean look but functional.
dude that's some next level shit lol
Looks like a brilliant solution to the problem of little to no storage in houses, without sacrificing safety/ergonomics.
I’m waiting for Darth Vader to walk down the new stairs
wow very nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need these and now. Its insane going up my garage stairs.
Just awesome! This is going in my new house. Love it
Those stairs look awesome! Thanks for sharing the install video.
Very impressive apparatus. Good to keep in mind if we relocate to FL.
Matt that's awesome talking about a dream garage man can't wait to see the finish👍🏾
Awesome , going to be a nice garage , can't wait to see it happen.
Thanks
That lift is going to change your life!
Awesome Matt. Thanks for sharing, scary as hell storing stuff up in the attic.
Those would be great for elderly people like he said. I guess since this is a temporary house for Matt this will be a nice addition when reselling, especially for retirees
My man has the truck shining!
Great content as usual 👍 fan from Haiti
for some reason I imagine you sitting under a coconut tree by the beach playing reggae music
That female installer doesn’t mess around!
Don’t go pulling that “I’m not gonna sell this house” crap, I’ve got plans to buy that when you’re finished!
I can see one if the kids lowering the lift onto the GT3 RS
26 minutes about a set of stairs.
At this pace, we’ll be on led light fixture #13 on May 27, 2024.
Is that before or after the vacuums?
@@timkinley1779 likely to be before.
you must value attic storage greatly. when i put something in attic i don't plan on retrieving it again for years.
Have you thought about using Bi-Fold Aircraft Hanger doors? The ones that are exterior to the building when raised? They would look great!
As a garage door guy, I can't wait to see what you replace the doors with. Putting a roll up door on a house? Like a sheet door or rolling steel?
I checked them out after you mentioned them. Only thing I dont like is that there is no manual override. Major feature missing in my book
OMG that staircase looks like the ramp of a spaceship landing on Earth 😂
I guess your kid will play the Star Wars' The Scape of the Millenium Falcon from Tatooine scene. Pfew-pfew.
Now that you are changing the garage doors, you could cut off the roof of the other garage bay and install a cheap Bendpack platform lift - compressor powered - and store two Porchas in one bay. 🤔
Very cool !
No labels!
Needs toe kick around opening in attic, stairs and elevator, keep feet and things from falling over edge.
Does it lock in up position? Hope cables only do not hold. What if cables breaks. Yes low odds but Porsche stored under.
I have massive attic space and this would be awesome if i could fit it in my garage. I think my house was supposed to be a 2 story with how high my roof is from my ceiling. Anyways I'm probably going to pull the trigger on this if it will fit.
Now that you have had the majic stairs a few months...what do you think? I am thinking of getting it
that is overkill for such a small attic space but pretty damn cool :-)
led zepplin stairway to heaven
That’s pretty freakin cool
Congratulations great job 👏👍🙌😀👌
Now I want something I don't need. Thanks Matt!
whoever buys this house in the future is going to have a big score on their hands.
Whoa!....Supa Dupa Cool shit!....Matt wins craziest "I don't need, but want" garage ever now!!!...haha
Add some leds, would look absolutely wild!
Beyond sick!
Awesome!
I will be really interested to see the install of the whole house dehumidifier. I bought a Ultra Aire 98H but waiting for my HVAC guy to install. Will you also install an ERV?
Love the project Matt. Curious on your thoughts about the roll up doors and insulation? I haven’t seen a solution for that yet. I’m sure you have it figured out though!
I will wait for protecting the stairs video...
I spy Ol' Matty's Turkey Fryer up in the attic.
Pink shirt is the most consistent person there lol.
Sweet!
How will the feet and the lift be positioned when you have your flooring in? Did they calibrate them to stop based on the current flooring?
Very cool
Man,,,,I just got my first home garage!!!🤔
Looks like one of my former garages :)
Now that is properly cool. It’s a shame our houses here in the U.K. would probably not accommodate the stairs.
So cool
After seeing the view from upstairs, I would have just down the hoist and left the regular steps. If the steps are to make it easier carrying stuff, kind of duplicative having the lift and you're losing more storage space up top.
i could be up and down a manual ladder by the time to motor dropped that.
This garage/driveway layout reminds me SO much of Adam LZ's house. Y'all neighbors now? haha
what brand of residential roll up garage doors are you going to use? Thanks for the videos.
I had a quick question. When my ceramic coating wears out after a few years, would you recommend a normal decon and wash, and then reapplication? Or do I have to polish off the old coating to apply a new one?
😳 wow. WANT!
Nice!
So what happens when the box is wider than the lift or the stairs? Asking for a friend...
Any link for the Majic Attic Lift? I’m not seeing that product on that Majic Stairs website. Thanks!
It's brand new. They haven't launched it yet.
I'm normally of the same mind with things as Matt but these seem like a solution to a problem that's not really there if your under 60 years old... Cool kit regardless
Matts a broker for finding cool garage shit
Won’t the underside of the lift get scratched up after a few times on the floor? I see an issue that the underside is also the hatch to the ceiling.
Hope you dont mix up the remotes with the GT3RS in the garage
"Now don't be showing off your stairs and make them go up and down" - Matty 2 hours later.. Look check out the lift and stairs. Presses up... down.... up .... down.. Crap, the motor burned up. Having too much fun!
What is the "Live Load" calculation for those trusses?
Just make sure to ever part the gt3 in the two bays those are in lol
$40k magic stairs for a 3’ attic ?
Grate stairs 🎉
They are like $5,000.
So what happened if u lose power while u are up there? How can you get down?...no manual over ride?
My home buying strategy is to buy Matt's house when he's done.
How much weight can you safely store in the attic?
well you gave away a garage makeover and a decked out car, this is naturally the next step to go over board on a giveaway, preferably to me.
I can’t stand my ladder.. this is awesome!
2nd
Nice to watch the garage makeover
why did you choose to go for cat 5 instead of cat 6?
2x4 trusses or larger?
Today is the day that the value of this garage surpassed the value of my SUV
For a minute I thought you had bought adamLZ’s house from the garage / driveway layout
Sounds like a great idea till there's some electrical fluke and it comes down on the GT3...😖
Seems a bit much for a little bit of storage.
cool stairs and lift Tesla Nerd lol
I bet Matt will go back and center the “do not store” sign when they leave lol
no he will de-badge it!
"As soon as you leave, I'll punt those in the trash". - Uncle Matt's subconscious
Very niiice. My majic stairs goto a hot attic full of a bunch of old pornos.
Shi*s gettin real now👉🏼👈🏼
You’re slipping behind the times. Cat 7: 600MHz, 10Gbps.
Let me know if you ever want to sell the house ! it keeps getting better by the day ....
Neh kids .. at least Ryan will be a adult .. can see him buying it.
This house is going to be really nice when I'm done.
@@ObsessedGarage For sure Matt , i appreciate how you dial things in .
If i had that kind of money id do it too but this is too much...
Can you fit a truck in there
can you shave back a little more drywall and make that lift sit flush up in the ceiling? That would annoy me so I know it’s gonna drive you nuts Matt
It's fixed now.
New crib?
Keep up.
@@timkinley1779 eat up fytb 🤣🤣
@@timkinley1779 we out here making money not on yt all day but thats for the laugh cheerleader
