Lance, I've only recently bought my 6 speed MF135. Often the main gear stick, won't shift sideways (L-R) without having to work it left to right several times over. After watching this video I suspect the 2 selectors that fasten on to the selector shafts (for selecting R,1,2,3) aren't lining up properly when the tractor is in neutral. (Maybe a selector has come loose or a detent and spring could be faulty?) Before I take the steering box off to look at it, is there anything else I should look at or suspect, that you can think of please? Hey many thanks for making these videos, they're absolutely bloody brilliant. I'm just your everyday vegetable farmer in NW England. I understand basic engineering but I've never ventured into a gearbox before but I fancy having a go at this. Appreciate your help. 👍

It could be that a selector has come loose but opening the top will probably tell the tale.

@@BundyBearsShed I fixed it. The main gear stick was slightly twisted and wasn't quite fitted into the cup correctly so the square piece on the bottom end of the gear stick was turned like a diamond shape so jammed in square slots, on the selector shafts, when the gear stick was moved from side to side. The tractor has had a replacement steering box fitted some time in its life and they didn't put the gear stick in properly. It changes gear really smooth now. 😁

Hi, I have 1965 Massey faurgeson 135 3 cylinder diesel , I put new clutch 10 in half and when I put it together the engine wasn’t mounted in I have to forced it so now I cannot shift the gears unless I have to shut the engine off and I have to put it in reverse and then if I put it in first and second gear doesn’t shift unless I shut the engine off.

I think you may have bent the clutch plate when bolting it together. Possibly split it again and line it up better.

I have an old 135 MF stuck in Neutral on my high / Low rang selector. anyone have an Ideal on what might be up with it? I've put new plungers and springs in it and changed out the Neutral safety switch.

Do you think one of the screws that holds the selector forks may have come loose? I have seen one side of the fork break off as well. Hard to say.

@@BundyBearsShed I opened the top up and all looks good. It's just my hi/ Low will not shift into low at all and it will not lock into High Range. I'm going to split her and get a look at my H/L selector gear.

Can you eliminate the wire and use red loctite instead or am I missing something. Too much heat for loctite. What is the purpose of the wire
