Hi Lance, I am just getting started on my first restoration. I have the brake shoes off (after a battle!) and I was wondering do the brakes have to completely disconnected from the tractor itself before you start stripping the brake shoes and springs off the wheel?

They all have dry brakes.
I also had a wasp nest in there. Is that something that comes with from the factory?

No the rods can still be attached but backing off the adjustment will help a lot.
Didn't the brakes for this vintage use linings containing asbestos?
Yes I believe so
