Been a fan of cardigans for a long time. Most people assume they are a one hit wonder, but they actually have a long and solid discography. Congrats to them for getting more exposure recently. And kudos to Miley Cyrus on having great music taste.
pfft, their Gran Turismo album is among one of the few albums I can listen to in its entirety without skipping a single track. Whoever said they're a one-hit-wonder needs to get their ears checked
"One Hit Wonder" as far as mainstream bullshit attention. It has nothing to do with talent, etc. Thanks for leading me down a Cardigan path! I'm going to check out the rest of their stuff! ❤
Peter Svensson who wrote the music considers this song the best song he ever wrote. I respectfully disagree, but the rest of the band seem to love it too since they still play it at every show even though Peter isn't performing with them anymore.
Their last two albums were, I don't think they even made the top 40 in the charts and they had to cancel one of their single releases because of how poor album sales were. The Cardigans were a band that were more about the music rather than wanting to be famous. You wouldn't see Nina twerking on stage half naked like Miley Cyrus did for attention.
@Aurelio Pirata And yet, she pays tribute to this wonderful piece of music with her own moving interpretation, and introduces new listeners to the original version, creating new fans of The Cardigans. Making it adversarial is unnecessary.
I used to be a big fan of the cardigans here in Finland more than 10 years ago. Miley reminded me of this amazing band. She is kind of an embassador of the good old times like her duet with melanie safka. Amazing!
Miley is bringing people here. That's really nice😍😍😍😍 I hope people enjoy and look for more Cardigans songs! Nina Persson is the one and only girl lead singer. I have seen Miley covering Blondie these days and I thought that it would be really nice if she could cover Cardigans, too. I think I sent positive energies and that happened (but I would have never guessed that song it could be "communication"). They influence a lot of talented people like Miley.
It all started when i was around 20 years old. I had little interest in listening to music until then. One day my older sister and her boyfriend had an album of The Cardigans. I experienced it out of curiosity and liked it very much, from the sounds, the voice to the lyrics and i started to explore music a lot more then. I chose to tell this story in the comments of this song because it resonates with my life experiences a lot. That struggle of being so interested in a person and at the same time not understanding what the feeling back is. Not finding how to reach a balance together to go deeper with a relationship, being real friendship or love. You try to be patient, caring, blunt and so many other things but still in the end you gave up because it feels unnatural to continue that way. It's easy to say "it was not the right person" but the love was there, the wanting to do so many things together and not being able to realize those eats you inside for a while. In particular when you disconnect and you see no will to try to connect back from the other side. Worse is that the older you get the difficulty increases because you fight against other priorities the other person has: childhood or best friends, family, sometimes even work or worse life problems. So the space dedicated to you is even less and you struggle to understand if there coud be something more or not. Unfortunately i still struggle to find people REALLY interested in me. PS yes, this is one of those moments, that's why i'm here. I'll be fine in a while. I take what i can from these experiences.
The cardigans are great. That was a really nice comment. I hope you are doing well. Did you listen to their song. In the round ? I like that one best. 😊
This song hits hard. I see my ex-best friend and myself as this song. She wouldn't let me get close to her as she was to me. She wouldn't properly communicate with me as I would with her. I went to therapy after the downfall of our relationship and as much as I can say I'm finally over what happened, I'm truly not. I'm not sure how to approach new relationships now. I'm scared to let myself get close with others like I did with her. As much as she hurt me, I still miss her.
I stumbled upon this while looking up songs for a project, and accidentally started playing this song. Safe to say that this is one of the best accidents I've ever had. This is such an incredible song!
thanks to Miley, i spent some time diving into their discography. i only knew their song "lovefool" but after this cover (which btw i instantly fell in love with), i listened to "long gone before daylight" and i realized that i liked the entire album. nina's voice, the instrumentals of each song combining perfectly...this album instantly hit me and made me realize that this was the album that i didn't know i needed. then i listened to all their albums and i think i MUST say that they don't really have a bad song/album at all. 6 albums, full of killers. all of them are great and i gotta thank Miley for introducing this immaculate band to her audience. i'm a new fan now!
Hello to everyone who is who is discovering the Cardigans after Miley or Haley Williams covers. I've been listening to this band since I was 11 and they're one of my favourite bands of all time. Hope that you check out their other songs as well. Fun fact the guitarist (Peter Svensson) has been quite successful as a songwriter over the last couple of years. For 27 years I've been trying
To believe and confide in
Different people I found
Some of them got closer than others
And some wouldn't even bother
And then you came around
I didn't really know what to call you
You didn't know me at all
But I was happy to explain
I never really knew how to move you
So I tried to intrude through
The little holes in your veins
And I saw you
But that's not an invitation!
That's all I get
If this is communication
I disconnect
I've seen you, I know you, but I don't know
How to connect
So I disconnect
You always seem to know where to find me
And I'm still here behind you
In the corner of your eye
I'll never really learn how to love you
But I know that I love you
Through the hole in the sky
Where I see you
And that's not an invitation!
That's all I get
If this is communication
I disconnect
I've seen you, I know you
, but I don't know
How to connect
So I disconnect
Well, this is an invitation!
It's not a threat
If you want communication
That's what you get
I'm talking and talking
But I don't know
How to connect
And I hold
A record for being patient
With your kind of hesitation
I need you, you want me
But I don't know
How to connect
So I disconnect
I disconnect

I’m glad she took the song on. According to Magnus, Miley was working with Peter (The Cardigans guitarist) on something about a month ago and perhaps this song came up during that time and is how she discovered it? Would be curious to know if that’s what happened, but it seems likely.
@@DSBac I agree with you!
@@DSBac In fact Miley added this song to one of her Spotify lists early this years, even when I know The Cardigans I neverd heard of it before and I loved it since it, I was very shooked when I saw her doing her cover but I think she covers her favourite songs for exeple there is an old video of her listening the britney song she and dancing to it like 3 years ago. before she cover it.
