The late, great Charlie Daniels used to say "Jimmy Hall's got more soul in his little finger than most people have in their whole body." I concur brother Charlie!
I'm 54 and I miss good rock music, because 99.9% of today's music absolutely BLOWS. You can always tell how good a group of musicians are by their live performances. Wet Willie was great.
You're damned right it was and I feel lucky to have been there for all of this great music! Music should put a chill of joy down your spine and a lot of today's music drops the ball on delivering the goods!
Yes! ARS was criminally underrated. Though they had radio hits back in the day, they never hit the level of fame they should have …. Wet Willie, too. Great music!!
Yes! I saw Wet Willie in 1978 with my wife. They opened up for Foghat. This was outside at the fairgrounds in Miami FL. The most fun concert I have ever seen. W.W. was great and Foghat did the live album with a few extras. ✌🤘
It just feels so good to see guys rocking it on stage live. I miss those days. I truly do. I just like making people smile and dance for a little while.
Wow. Just wow. Lucky you! Great lineup. I've always loved GFR and Wet Willie, since I first heard them on my radio, waaaaaaaaay back when. I always wanted to see them live in concert, but I never had the privilege. I still have both bands on 45s, albums, 8tracks, cassettes, and cds. And I'd like to thank them, for the magic, music, and memories.
What great live performance. So much great artists and music in that era. I feel so blessed to have been a teenager to enjoy that great music in real time, while it was being created. I really think the best era of music was the 60’s-80’s not just my opinion, but just listen. Peace Out.
Jimmy Hall is just an awesome performer ! I saw him just kill it in a bar in Bowling Green, OH with about 10 people in the place. He still was fabulous! Strolled in the front door and went to work!
The mark of a great band/musician is if there is only 10 people in the audience, they still bring their A game. After all, they have a musicial reputation to uphold.
Wet Willie, Aerosmith folks and The The Guess Who? Wet Willie, and Aerosmith Wow Fresno, California 1975 going into 1976AD Super Concert By Today’s Standards. Never Again in This Lifetime!!👍🌸💐🍀🏆🎭🎸🎹🎼🎤Not sure who played first or Last can’t remember!!🤙🏻
That positive soulful energy. This has been a favorite of mine since the first time I heard it. My soul actually giggles with beautiful energy when I hear this.
So when Jimmy hall was touring and playing sax with Hank Jr, I saw them play this at sound check and it was one of the most amazing vocal performances I’ve ever heard.
Wet Willie opened for Grand Funk Railroad - March 1974...Florida. Hollywood Sportatorium..still have the ticket stub. I was in high school back then..was right up front by the stage...what a concert!
Charlie Daniels once said that Jimmy Hall has more soul in his little finger than most people have in their whole body. It that ain't saying something I don't know what is.
Saw this tour when they played a snowbound Chicago in Jan. 1978. Jimmy, brother Jack on bass and sister Donna on backing vocals. An awesome family band.
Southern rock propped up the 70s, really. The "British Invasion" had fizzled out for the most part. I still listen to all of the classics at age 80. There were some great bands at the old Charlotte Coliseum for a mere $10, such as Alabama with Marshall Tucker opening. Eric Clapton played there, as did the Allman Bros. And as a 15 yr old, I saw Elvis there in 1956 with my 14 yr old sister--65 yrs ago. And I taught my 2 sons to love rock as much as I did.
Karen Gilliam Were you at Volunteer Jam in Murfreesboro in the late 70's? Charlie said "I love ya'll Tennessee. Its still the best damn state in the Union." When he said that, the whole place went nuts!!!
Sonny Boy Williamson used to wear a belt to keep harmonicas. Blues Traveler's John Popper also had one, but wore it around his neck because it was too small.
Glad u pointed that out. I thought it was some awful 70s boys' equivalent to the chain belts we girls used to wear. lol. Mind you, I loved those chain belts!
I definitely miss the 70s
That's when music was music
Amen, my friend!
Wow 1978. Where did all those years go ! God has been good to me..😊👍👍🍁🍂🍁🍂👍🙏🌾🦉🍁🍂🍁
❤
If I CAN STILL GET INTO THIS JAM ?? HELL YEAH ...GODS been good to me too !!! 🇱🇷💙🇱🇷😁🙏🌹😬🇱🇷💙🥰🔥😎
Me too

My life's anthem.
This performance and song Makes me Smile

Going to see Jimmy Hall Friday. Still got it going on.😊
“Smiling in the rain and laughing at the pain”…. That has to be in the top five lyrics ever created, just spot on…..

A truly sublime band in its time. The 70’s was a great time for Rock and Roll.
You're damned right it was and I feel lucky to have been there for all of this great music! Music should put a chill of joy down your spine and a lot of today's music drops the ball on delivering the goods!

Not like the the total shit we have today
In a microcausm this was the absolute peak song of the 70s literally
I was at this concert, Wet Willie is the most underrated band of the 70's. Atlanta Rhythm Band was 2nd most underrated....
I agree!!!
Yes! ARS was criminally underrated. Though they had radio hits back in the day, they never hit the level of fame they should have …. Wet Willie, too. Great music!!
Blame it on WEA capricorn records for poor protection.
Absolutely true!

This song will last forever. When music was music.

Saw them open for Lynyrd Skynyrd. My neighbor reminded me of my times with my dad when he was living. I just keep on smiling.
I never get tired of this one.

I miss those volunteer jams. RIP Charlie. Thanks for all these kinds of memories.
He does this song with Blackberry Smoke, and it is phenomenal.
These guys were on the bill for the first show I ever saw. Suzy Quatro, Wet Willie, & Grand Funk Railroad 1973.
That would of been a fantastic concert.

Always love Wet Willie since early 70s. My CB handle was Wet Willie and I played the harmonica.
