Hi, I am a great fan of your reviews, rarely missed any in last 1.5 years... but I feel your enthusiasm sparks when you have Toyota, or a Toyota powered Mazda. I feel the enthusiasm, positivity and eagerness when you have a Toyota. Your attitude is next level. But any other car brand, for example this Ariya review. From the very beginning you have very unsatisfied attitude as why Nissan or any other company makes cars. Why they named it Ariya? Why not RAV4? It should only be Toyota. Just my humble opinion. Attitude can be same for all brands until we dive more into review. I have to say the truth! Not the end of the world... but can be better
I agree. I purchased a 2024 Toyota Tacoma and its been a nightmare. Ive had Toyotas for 15 years and I should of gotten the frontier as I payed $13k more for the tacoma… i dont think ill buy new toyotas from 2019 up cause they really suck.
I find your reviews very informative. I wasn't here before my last purchase, but your review of the '24 Subaru Crosstrek did make me feel I made a good choice. I will definitely check here if I ever need another vehicle.
My spouse and I have a '23 ARIYA e4orce Engage+ (2nd highest Trim) and love it. We tested the Tesla, ID.4, and Ioniq 5 (a close second) and chose this with no regrets (except maybe wait for the price drop that happened 3 months after we bought it.) Still though, we are very happy with this car as this was also our first fully electric car. (We previously had a CMAX Energi (Plugin Hybrid) and still have a CRV Hybrid, but this car definitely has luxury car feel when driving or riding in it. Super nice all around!!!!!!
I'm currently driving my parents and I have been driving Tesla's for a decade, I really like the Ariya, way quieter and more luxurious then most if not all tesla's, even though my 2022 Model S is very nice and the quality and fit and finished is so improved. I just don't understand how they could not make the cameras higher quality, I mean camera lenses are so cheap, quality ones. The rear view camera for the mirror is too small and poor quality, and the 360 camera is just so poor. Relative to other cars even base model Kia's. Also the instrument cluster is higher quality than the infotainment screen, the infotainment screen looks good most of the time but there is just some blurriness to it that detracts from how nice the car actually is it's very odd that they neglected these crucial and important things. Perhaps they didn't need the motorized tray table and they could have put like 4K cameras. The camera quality and then the screen reminds me of my 2011 Infiniti it's like almost the same. Also the ride is a bit busy for me and hard to keep straight. Minor gripes, also they have 11,000 Mi and the front wheels are wearing really bad. These are minor gripes but they really should have fixed them by now. You can get a brand new 2024 evolve plus for 31k here in SoCal.
@joshlotz2209 I'm always curious as to that as well, I presume that you chose the Ioniq because you can charge at home, you were sick of seeing all the Teslas on the road, and the one main screen for everything while you get used to it it sucks to begin with... or you just hate Elon Musk witch seems to be one of the common reasons these days the people don't want to buy a Tesla LMAO
@@MugatuJagdefinitely nailed some of reasons for avoiding the Tesla, one screen and just overall build quality were the biggest reasons. Sitting in the Ioniq felt like it was a segment above the Tesla. Used Ioniqs also were at a better price point than the Mach E, and we just preferred the looks and interior feel. We ended up buying a used Limited, and love all the tech.
@joshlotz2209 I totally get that, I've been driving the Nissan for about a week, I still have my Tesla but mine is a refresh first generation model 3, the Nissan is much quieter, even though the double glazed windows on the model 3 helped a lot but it doesn't matter the amount of glazing, frameless Windows suck, every model 3 I've ever had has had wind issues like wind noise because the wheels I'm sorry the windows never seal correctly. Same with my BMW. I will say though that my ex just bought a model 3, I helped him and I picked it out for him a brand new 2025 and it is perfect, the build quality and the paint quality and consistency of color is better than my bmw, it's quiet the panel gaps are perfect. But the panel gaps on my 2023 are embarrassing in some areas, I mean we're talking you can almost put your hand in there
This is why I like simple reliable car, all the electronics just another thing to go wrong. I like driving my car myself because I know what it's going to do most of the time
Probably nothing, all they are doing is sharing ev tech, the same way mazda and toyota helped each other with the skyactive engine and toyota hybrid platform.
What comes to mind regarding all of the ground points and the thickness of those wires is maybe to ensure the high voltage battery stays grounded with the body, maybe in case of front collision?
Great review. Your test vehicle is the Platinum +, which all come with the larger 91 kWh battery. It is rated.rated for about 270 miles of range. Of course you will not get that range if you are using the climate control and driving aggressively or at high speed.
14:23 I miss my under body lighting on my 2015 Altima SL pearl white, it was not only beautiful but very useful. But installation was definitely an after thought and I had to get it repaired at one point
Driver distraction systems: My vehicle does not have a dedicated driver monitor, but it does remind drivers to keep their hands on the wheel. This would be great if it had a pressure sensor that directly monitored this, but instead, it detects steering inputs. Driving on a long straight stretch of highway that does not require much steering input, it nags the driver constantly.
AMD - I was really taken by the Ariya when I first saw pics and then again seeing them in person. Like you said, the appearance, materials and build are all so well done. But then the drive train isn’t at the same level. Mainly efficiency. The large frontal area is part of that problem. But then Nissan went out with a 7.4kWh AC charger when nearly everyone else is >=9.6 kWh, and DC charging is low-to-mid pack, especially for the larger battery pack. Upside is the charge curve is relatively flat so even though it doesn’t have a high max charge rate, Ariya stays at higher charge rates for a larger part of its charge curve and the average DCFC rate is OK. Very nice vehicle, just saddled with a GEN1 drivetrain. Tesla didn’t get to excellence overnight. Heat pump first showed on Model Y (5th vehicle!), some 8 years after debut of early Model S’s. Tesla’s efficiency wasn’t stellar until Model 3, their 4th vehicle. Excellence requires persistence!
Gen 1 drivetrain? I'm not so sure, I'm doing more than 350 miles per charge easily on mine, and in Europe we have a 22kW AC on board charger on Ariya, which nearly no other brand does offer. The electric motor is oil cooled, the EESM rotor has 8 poles instead of 4 from other brands in the past, and much more details.
thanks for this! you put more effort in describing and advertising this car than Nissan did or is doing! Remember that the first production, successful electric car was the Nissan leaf? yeah, they totally dropped the cake after that. This car should be selling like hot cakes if they released it before the Model Y and actually advertised the thing. Hyundais and Kias suck yet people still buy them in high numbers, why? They advertise all the time! You're watching any sports in America you know all the Kias and Hyundais for sale. Nissan, if you want to survive, you have to advertise your shit
Problem is no tax rebates for Ariya. With the future administration, either things get balanced as no manufacturers get rebates or bringing Ariya's manufacturing to US may not add any value.
There is one thing that you're missing here, the battery chemistry on the Ariya's battery is very resistant to low temperatures, I've been able to quick charge at about 70kW WITHOUT preheating the battery on below zero celcius temps, Nissan recommends to preheat the battery in this car only when the snowflake icon shows on the dash, if not it isn't that necessary at all, and when the temps are really really low, much lower than that a heat pump isn't capable of heating the pack up to speed or in a efficient way so PTC to the rescue anyway. I don't see it as a bad thing necessarily, this isn't a LFP battery, it's an NCM one, and one very good at cold.
My main gripe is ergonomics. Nobody asked for capacitive panels or climate controls split between the panel and infotainment. If they make clinate controls and steering wheel controls 100% physical buttons, I’d absolutely look into a Nissan
I'm happy that there are separated and dedicated buttons for climate in the Ariya instead of everything on the screen to be honest, Tesla is worse for example.
Ariya’s battery thermal management system may be rudimentary, in part b/c Leaf had NO active thermal management for the battery. It’s a 1st GEN design, and almost all 1st GEN long range EVs seem to use resistive heat AT LEAST for the battery; many for cabin heat as well. Due to about 2 years delays due to $$ issues in Nissan and COVID-induced supply issues, Ariya’s design is about 2 years older than expected for its debut date. And it shows, in terms of integration, under the hood.
I wouldn't call a thermal management system Gen 1 for not having escavenge heat usage for example, this is definitely not a Gen 1 thermal system for Nissan as they already developed an active cooled one for the eNV200 after the Leaf so...
I absolutely love the idea of having an evaporator and a condenser under the dash. With a conventional car, very often I would run the heat and the air conditioner together on a cold wet day. In that manner I would have a warm dry cabin. If you only have one either an evaporator or a condenser working you cannot do that. It can be very uncomfortable and it is a major disadvantage of most electric vehicles. Besides the fact that they are electric vehicle

I dont know if they still specialize in Honda/Acura, but I used a place called the Pit Shop in Libertyville. The owner was a former Honda tech. Outstanding service and good prices. I moved much further south, so I haven’t been there in years.
32:17 for 200 miles in a 66 kWh battery conversion: In California, per EnergySage, the most recent average os $0.36/kWh. Makes a full charge $23.76. A gas car for gas at $4.20/gal would be about 5.657 gallons and 200 miles over 5.657 gallons = 36.36 mpg, i.e. a car with 36.4mpg would appear to be less cost to "fuel up". To be fair, in cold Chicago weather, and probably not 100% depletion of the battery...?
Very timely review. We've had our Ariya for about 3 months now and generally agree with everything you said. It really is more than the sum of its parts, with a truly enjoyable daily driving experience. *However* it recently started throwing an error code P1B20(87). The dealer doesn't know what to do with it, so I'm driving a loaner Nissan Leaf while they hopefully figure it out.
That error code is for CAN communication error with the CPLC module, they have to do the diagnosis procedure of the CAN system and repair it if bad, if good they have to replace the CPLC module.
the only one problem that nissan must address and if they really want to get out of this financial downturn is their EV'S range..... if nissan can produce ev's that can reach a thousand kilometers that will be a game changer for them.
Yes, plus, it'd be even more interesting if he did a 2024 for a back-to-back comparison. Hopefully 2024 first, then the 2025. So far reviews I've seen, the V6 and a few other things (quietness and better ride are 2) is really missed. Even the turbo 4 fuel mileage is not really cutting it I've heard. I think they should have kept the V6 (or their NA 2.5) and added a hybrid with an eCVT like Toyota's. Still, hope they do well with it. This Ariya profile reminds me of the last Murano especially towards the rear. Good looker.
Not surprising Nissan still hasn't figured out battery cooling in their electrics when they completely ignored it in the Leaf, which is still being sold today. My leaf has treated me well so far, but I just do small commutes so it works for me. Would like to see faster charging, more range, and better thermal management for sure, it's something I'll keep in mind for my next electric, which will likely not be a Nissan, unless it's a massive bargain.
@@Cosmycal Wasn't aware of the eNV200's cooling system, if anything it makes things more curious as to why the Leaf didn't have better thermal management even after their charge-gate situation. And yes, they have a better system now with the Ariya which is what this video covers, but TCCN isn't impressed, and confused by their decisions to not utilize the heat pump more and instead rely on PTC heaters
@@BeastChan23For the Leaf Nissan just didn't wanted to spend money to include active cooling on the Leaf to make it cheaper, the model was designed without it from the beginning like a cost saving measure. 3rd gen Leaf is launching this year in Europe and it doesn't use the 2010 platform anymore but the same that the Ariya uses and I'll have the same thermal management as the Ariya. And the thing about not using the heat pump for the battery coolant or to scavenge heat with valves from the drivetrain coolant circuit, probably was a design choice, one for simplicity (when the octovalve on a Tesla fails you have to replace the whole HVAC system like a friend of mine did have to do out of warranty and it was a economic nightmare) and other because the Ariya's battery chemistry doesn't need heat that much as a Tesla LFP battery or some other NCM batteries out there, the Ariya battery can sustain more than half the top speed of DC charging without preheating it with temps just below zero celcius, no PTC/heat pump/scavenge heat needed, and for extreme cold when heating is needed even a heat pump and scavenge heat combo wouldn't be able to cope to heat up the battery enough and you have to use a PTC heater anyway like every other EV so... I don't see the "failure" or "old tech" here, just a design decision and it doesn't trash the vehicle for it. I've never used the battery heater on my Ariya because it still charges fast enough on non extreme cold weather and I don't need to waste energy to keep it hot. Nissan says you only should consider heating it when the snowflake icon appears on the dash.
It's not that they can't do it, Nissan already said that they could have had a frunk on the Ariya platform but decided instead to put all the typical inner dashboard things below the hood to free up more cabin space to give the car that lounge style inner front, it's just a design decision, and if you ask me, I prefer more interior room than a small frunk.
You say they could’ve moved stuff back to give it a frunk. I say there’s a lot of space around everything to make maintenance easier. Cars didn’t have a frunk for the first 100 years, why do they need a sandwich warmer now?
Please do the 2025 KIA K4 for the next review as they have upgraded the engine to fix the carbon issue / Oil consumption and I wanted to know what your thoughts are?
You have the 87kwh battery not a 63kwh as denoted by the + in Platinum+. It can be a thirsty boy, but you can easily get EPA range in warmer weather at only 3.1 miles per kwh. I traded my 2023 Tesla Model 3 RWD lowest trim for a 6 month old 2023 Ariya Evolve+ AWD with 2800 miles. It was almost an even trade, making the Ariya ~$25k which is less than half the original $57k sticker price. While the Nissan software is worse (I'm using ABRP for navigation) , the vehicle is a much nicer and better used value than my Model 3. And has access to the Tesla supercharger network. The charging speeds (both AC and DC) is really the biggest letdown, though the curve is nice and flat and charges well at high battery SOC. I charge 99% of the time at home so doesn't really affect me.

The Ariya is one of 3 EV’s that I am leasing here in Colorado. It has superior fit and finish compared to the Kia EV6 and Nissan LEAF.
No point of watching any of his review if its not toyota. He will just trash it
I’d love to see a review of the Frontier!
The two shark fin antennas are only on the propilot 2.0 optioned Ariya's for the self driving feature.
Likely for redundancy as well as precise locating via diversity.
@@dondonaldson1684 no one is for radio and the other is for propilot.
The second antenna is for HD GPS, the ProPilot 2.0 can't work with standard GPS precision.
What made you choose the Nissan over the Ioniq 5? We went Ioniq, and were between Model Y, Mach E.
But the panel gaps on my 2023 are embarrassing in some areas, I mean we're talking you can almost put your hand in there
i never realised I wasn’t subscribed. i watch your videos daily. 😂

This is why I like simple reliable car, all the electronics just another thing to go wrong. I like driving my car myself because I know what it's going to do most of the time
AMD, The question potential buyers need to ask is - should you buy any car from a company in such financial difficulties?
The Honda merger will save them..... the problem is, what will that do to Honda?
@@bme7491Nissan has body on frame trucks. Imagine a body on frame Acura
@@bme7491I’d think that Honda would want the trucks…
Probably nothing, all they are doing is sharing ev tech, the same way mazda and toyota helped each other with the skyactive engine and toyota hybrid platform.

I hope you will review the Nissan xtrail e power too...
@AMD, long standing request….please review Nissan Pathfinder!!
Ahmed, that would be awesome if you review a 2022-2024 Pathfinder.
What comes to mind regarding all of the ground points and the thickness of those wires is maybe to ensure the high voltage battery stays grounded with the body, maybe in case of front collision?
The review...Great as always. The car-I will go and check my local Toyota and Mazda dealer. Thank you as always.
Nissan pathfinder pleaseeeee 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
May the e4ORCE be with you!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Great review. Your test vehicle is the Platinum +, which all come with the larger 91 kWh battery. It is rated.rated for about 270 miles of range. Of course you will not get that range if you are using the climate control and driving aggressively or at high speed.
AMD could you please do a review on 2022/2024 Nissan Pathfinder. I would really appreciate it. My second request in last 6 months
Great review as always. Thanks!
Would be interested in a review of Kia EV9, which is attractive because of 3 row seats.

Pls review the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Infinity QX80 and Nissan Sentra too
Nice review, nice wheels ... just that Lithium ion thermal runaway risk thing.
I can’t pronounce the name either but I enjoy watching car reviews regardless.
14:23 I miss my under body lighting on my 2015 Altima SL pearl white, it was not only beautiful but very useful. But installation was definitely an after thought and I had to get it repaired at one point
It’s is great we have had it for 6 months. We get 320 miles out of a full charge. We have the larger battery.
I’m delighted the ground light strips and the Nissan logo projectors, have been excluded from the models marketed in the UK
Honestly i would buy one
@sajiantony7473 get rid of the fucking rebates already
It is a very nice car for everyday use!! Well done Nissan :)
Nissan has been using the type of subwoofer for decades.. works great
There is one thing that you're missing here, the battery chemistry on the Ariya's battery is very resistant to low temperatures, I've been able to quick charge at about 70kW WITHOUT preheating the battery on below zero celcius temps, Nissan recommends to preheat the battery in this car only when the snowflake icon shows on the dash, if not it isn't that necessary at all, and when the temps are really really low, much lower than that a heat pump isn't capable of heating the pack up to speed or in a efficient way so PTC to the rescue anyway. I don't see it as a bad thing necessarily, this isn't a LFP battery, it's an NCM one, and one very good at cold.
😁 A new video from The Car Care Nut! WOOO!!
Always new information here.
Can you do a 25 ford explorer 2.3 it has an updated engine this year
Looks great online, but looks boring/mid in person.
My main gripe is ergonomics. Nobody asked for capacitive panels or climate controls split between the panel and infotainment. If they make clinate controls and steering wheel controls 100% physical buttons, I’d absolutely look into a Nissan
Yep, capacitive is dumb... Not going to work when you get in with gloves on.
I'm happy that there are separated and dedicated buttons for climate in the Ariya instead of everything on the screen to be honest, Tesla is worse for example.
This Is a nice looking car I like It quite a bit
Agree with you on the Infiniti comments. In fact I think they'd have been better off just making it an Infiniti flat out.
Hey, how about showing us a video on how to do a coolant flush without the machine on a GX 460?
I absolutely love the idea of having an evaporator and a condenser under the dash. With a conventional car, very often I would run the heat and the air conditioner together on a cold wet day. In that manner I would have a warm dry cabin. If you only have one either an evaporator or a condenser working you cannot do that. It can be very uncomfortable and it is a major disadvantage of most electric vehicles. Besides the fact that they are electric vehicle
Is there anyway you can do any bmw suv reviews like the x3 or x4 please boss
In this platform PTC heater is used only to preheat battery before fast charge.
It is used automatically also at very low temperatures too, to prevent battery freezing, like Leaf already did on variants with it equipped.
Who is the Honda equivalent to you AMD!! There are folks like myself who love your content and your amazing sense of detail and dedication to your craft, but we can't visit you with our cars because we drive Hondas or Acuras!! The real solution is to switch to toyota
I dont know if they still specialize in Honda/Acura, but I used a place called the Pit Shop in Libertyville.
The owner was a former Honda tech. Outstanding service and good prices. I moved much further south, so I haven’t been there in years.
there is not a lot of heat available outside when it is near zero deg F. Makes heat pumps struggle.
When a review of the equinox awd ?
32:17 for 200 miles in a 66 kWh battery conversion: In California, per EnergySage, the most recent average os $0.36/kWh. Makes a full charge $23.76. A gas car for gas at $4.20/gal would be about 5.657 gallons and 200 miles over 5.657 gallons = 36.36 mpg, i.e. a car with 36.4mpg would appear to be less cost to "fuel up". To be fair, in cold Chicago weather, and probably not 100% depletion of the battery...?
The car looks great inside and out. It they can put a 6 cylinder engine in it I might consider it!😄
Hilarious.
You praised heat pump on Tesla, but have issues with it on this vehicle? I’m highly considering buying one, so honestly interested
Well.. that is a different design.. cool
Tesla fuse box? How far back are you going?
Very timely review. We've had our Ariya for about 3 months now and generally agree with everything you said. It really is more than the sum of its parts, with a truly enjoyable daily driving experience.
*However* it recently started throwing an error code P1B20(87). The dealer doesn't know what to do with it, so I'm driving a loaner Nissan Leaf while they hopefully figure it out.
Too many folks having big issues with Arya and their cars sitting for months at the dealers with parts on backorder. Nightmare. Get prepared.
That error code is for CAN communication error with the CPLC module, they have to do the diagnosis procedure of the CAN system and repair it if bad, if good they have to replace the CPLC module.
@Cosmycal update: they are replacing the entire traction motor? Doesn't make sense to me but it's under warranty 🤷♂️
the only one problem that nissan must address and if they really want to get out of this financial downturn is their EV'S range..... if nissan can produce ev's that can reach a thousand kilometers that will be a game changer for them.
Didnt see cup holders ?
Shhhh!!!!! That is verbotem
I am looking forward for you to review the 2025 MURANO.
What? Nissan has had active battery cooling on the eNV200 since 2014, and liquid cooling on the Ariya, not sure what you're talking about.
Nissan says you only should consider heating it when the snowflake icon appears on the dash.
if you recorded the intro clips in 60fps or 240fps it wouldn't jitter like that. more pictures taken in a second --> smoother when slowed down
36:19 best part of video, may the Lord bless you and keep you
Curious your opinion on the Nissan Leaf. Still uses passive cooling.
Not for the 3rd generation that will be launched this year on Europe.
Nissan interiors are way better than Mazda's in both comfort and usability.
just saw a Cadillac Suv and the front looks very similar
Why does Tesla have a lot of storage space in the front and rear, other auto makers can't do it.
Can you charge your car directly from solar panels dc?
Yes if the pv array generates at least 11kw. In reality you need probably at least 20kwp installed for a meaningful top up of the battery
Please do the 2025 KIA K4 for the next review as they have upgraded the engine to fix the carbon issue / Oil consumption and I wanted to know what your thoughts are?
He is probably surprised that I am surprised that he is surprised 😂

I like how this car looks. But man the price is ridiculous. I love my V6 Murano and would totally go for an Ariya if the price was right.
