FYI the A6100 is a much later upgrade and will cost ALOT more. The 6100 came out in 2019 - 7 years after the a6000.
The A6xxx series has a really deceptive naming convention, it goes 6000 - 6300 - 6500 - 6400 - 6100 - 6600 - 6700.
The A6400, 6100 and 6600 were all released in the same year and are distinguished more by their "tier" (A6100 is entry level, a6400 is mid tier and a6600 is high end) rather than by series as none of them are intended to replace the other.
The 6300 and 6500 were also released in the same year (2016) and were tiered in the same way to both replace and complement the a6000. The a6300 was a mid range camera that directly replaced the the a6000. The a6000 continued to be produced but was marketed as an entry level camera. The A6500 was the high end option that came with bells and whistles like IBIS.
Jim knows Sony cameras haha their hierarchy of cameras is soo confusing lol!
I bought my a6000 back on 2015, just used the kit lens, but recently i bought the sigma 56mm, it just changed everything, if you only use a6000 to take images, there's no reason to waste money to get a little bit improve of photography.
Totally agree that a prime lens and this camera body for photography only will definitely do the trick for almost every beginner!
I dont think I could ever outgrow the a6000 and the sigma 30mm f1.4. The synergy on that combo is just too good for everyday purposes
Love that setup 👀
It was a great information bro, thank you for sharing your review about the camera.
of course man! thanks for supporting the channel
Good video. Started out on one of these myself. Actually was about to sell my Sony a6000, but beforehand I tried out the Laowa 9mm F/2.8 lens on it. That little lens made photography fun again. Highly recommend it.
dude I would love to try that lens, i'm all about having a RAW shooting mirrorless that's as light weight as possible haha
It even has EYE AF in Single Shot mode... works perfect with my Zeiss Touit 32mm f1.8 lens... you just have to set up a custom button for it in the MENU.
That sounds like an awesome combo 🤩
Best video on the subjet here, not only praise the camera non stop
Thanks buddy! Two sides to every camera :)
Soft skin effect on my face cause the I fu$%ed up the focus settings 😂
Hi, grey video, wich model base plate do you have.smallrig? Thanks a lot
Hey Mazz thanks, it's some cheap L mount bracket. $20 bucks or something.

Great video man! Since it is not amazing for video shooting, what inexpensive camera would you suggest that beginners can use for mainly shooting videos?
I appreciate you man, thanks for checking out the channel! I often recommend the Sony ZVE10 for beginners! You can watch my latest video of the ZVE10 vs. Canon R50 here: ua-cam.com/video/sDmjN-Q1-eA/v-deo.html
@@MattyDCCollins thanks!
Try Sony a6400
@@MVirtuSony a5100
And i know it does not have any log profile for raw footages, how can we make a flat profile in it for videos?
Just lower the contrast, saturation, and sharpening in camera
I bought one for 260 with a fisheye lens and it was one of my best decisions on purchasing something I just need some more lenses
such a good deal man! look at the sigma primes :)
My cousin just asked me what camera she should start out with so I’m just gonna send her this instead 😂
interesting to know tho at a price comparable to my t6i, how much better the sensor and frame rate and features are on the Sony.
you can send her my video on the a5000 as well :) also i'm not against Canon and they have some cheaper lens options if you're ok with EF!

Hi - can I ask what make is the cage you have the A6000 in ?
It’s a no name one from Amazon :)
@@MattyDCCollins ok thankyou
I still use a nex 5 that cost me £76.99 this year as I broke my previous nex 5 I use a EMount to canon fd adapter and use old canon film lenses on it with focus peeking for photography and a canon EF to e mount adapter to use the lenses I also use on my DSLR
I've never tried the NEX series but they seem to be ok just a little more dated than the a5000 series
@@MattyDCCollins the next 7 came out around a thew years earlier than the 5000 serie but was similar specs
am barely starting .. would you buy this for about $250 used ??
That would be an amazing deal if you can get it for that price
That's a steal, ... And I'm a canon shooter lol
Can it be used for commercial shooting for example weddings? Can you even call him professional?
Anything can be ‘professional’ but the a6000 is a little dated now. But if it’s only photo and you have a nice lens, I don’t see why not! It only has one card slot and my friend may have lost 2800 images this morning because of no redundant recording
I am thinking of buying this camera. I have a Nikon dslr but it so heavy & I want a compact camera. Why is the average cost $600 when it’s a discount camera?
where are you trying to buy? where I am in Canada it's $400 on used markets
Tina this is an older camera. Cameras depreciate over time as newer cameras are released by manufacturers. The newer cameras are either vastly or incrementally improved. New features are added or existing features improved. The important thing to remember is if a camera produces good images when it was released it will continue to produce good images.
This body doesn’t produce 4K video. 1080 is OK. Not shooting a lot of video? This should not be a problem. No IBIS (in body stabilization)? Not doing video or low light photos? You don’t need IBIS. As Matty suggests, you can buy lenses with stabilization.
As newer bodies have more and improved features the cost of the body increases. So if you are looking for a cheaper camera you have to ask two questions. What features do I require? How much can I afford to spend? The answers to these questions will lead you to the cameras to consider.
Good hunting for your next camera.

What extensión - cage is that??
It’s a no name brand one off Amazon!
How's it for streaming?

It is the camera of the decade! 😉😅
Hahah honestly could be!
Hello, great information..
can we do cinematic wedding and fashion videography with this camera? And also UA-cam speaking head videos and some short films?
Thanks.
It would be fine but would try maybe finding the a6100 because I love having 4K and the a6000 doesn’t support it
Would you buy this new in 2023 650$?
Awesome questions Ivan, for me personally, I would not, i'd save the extra $200 or so that's needed for a ZV-E10 body but that's me as a hybrid shooter and I would sacrifice the no viewfinder. All depends what you shoot mostly :) would be happy to help further :)
Just buy the rp
@@Arxez What is RP?
@@MattyDCCollins I only want it for pictures not videos but I see that it’s a newer camera but picture quality wise is it still the better choice ? I’m buying today I really appreciate the help here.
@@ivancarvallo2837 Canon RP - it's a budget Full Frame option but it's dated now and still pricey on the used market.
I dont think 6100 was "soon after". The next released models were 6300 and 6500 which were released 2 years after 6000. After another 3 years you got 6400 and 6100. Thanks Sony for making it simple 🤣
Haha no way! That’s hilarious, Sony is wildin’ with this line of cameras - now we got the a6700!
Damnn this camera cost 600$
I wouldn't buy them new again. You should look for a used one. Here in Germany you pay about 250-350 Euro, depending on which lens is included and what condition it is in.
@@kayh4656 i saw one used for 500$ with no lens and if u want basic lens (the one that came with) extra 70$
And that camera has scratches+ it take 7600 shots
