- From classics like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to obscurities like Quark, the 70's was filled with hilarious and imaginative sci-fi comedies! Here's a short list of the best!
Quark and Mork and Mindy and Hitchhikers Guide made me wonder what could top this list, but yeah, Sleeper was a solid choice. I'm glad that I found your channel.
I really liked the first season of Mork and Mindy. The subsequent seasons changed some elements and it felt like a rugpull except for William's consistent brilliance. And wow, I've never seen Sleeper but I remember my folks strictly forbidding us watching any Woody Allen and now I'm going to find it and watch it 😅
Sleeper is absolutely hilarious!
Only remember Quark (the show) not the details, did watch Quantum Leap. When Enteprise came out the reviews were talking about the theme music but I was more concerned about the captain would be the lead from Quantum Leap, but he proved himself there and in CSI: New Orleans.
Ah yes ! 'Hitchiker's Guide' and the battle of the spellings 😁😁
Initially, I didn't take to Mork's persona and while I did watch a bit of M&M later on, I never really got into it. Hitchikers Guide (six part TV adaptation) on the other hand, was an instant hit with me. The others I remember but only vaguely.
Dark Star is a top tier classic, definitely give it a serious watch!
I do love Dark Star, but I would have added A Boy And His Dog.
Never thought of that as a comedy, but you're right, it's a black comedy!
Looks forward to a video of the "BEST SciFi Humor of the 70's" Oh boy its gonna be good!... video opens with "Quark" Oh dear.
You start at the bottom with a Top 10 list, not the top.
Ten years later there was Red Dwarf.
A great series - very similar to Quark, which has been ripped off many times. Compare Andy from Quark to Bender from Futurama!
@@that-70s-nerd Given the quality of the shows and characters borrowed from Quark, it's a good influence! I loved Futurama too. While those shows did some borrowing for their setup and characters, they had some fantastic original sci fi ideas.
Definately needs an update as there is Red Dwarf and Tons and tons of Sci Fi Comedy in Japanese animation.
You could pair 'Dark Star" and "THX 1138"
I'm terrified that I knew what space ship that was before seeing the name
Sadly, Sleeper has become almost impossible for me to enjoy given the ongoing allegations against Woody Allen over supposed sexual misconduct with minors.
IMO, Woody was exonerated a long time ago-there are no "allegations" about him & minors, only from Mia Farrow's brainwashed adopted children, whose stories keep changing & whom she treats horribly & exploits heartlessly.
Recently read "The Hitchhiker's Guide" for the first time. Good, but very overrated.
Well, it's been ripped off for over 40 years, so you have to account for that.
