Another great video Sam, that project is comin right along. Might need a new swing seal-appears like yours is pushed out allowing the grease to escape. Probably not practical for every job you do, but single bar grouser tracks sure would be a help in the mud/hills on that job. Great message at the end, thanks for always helping build others up in the faith
Thanks Shawn, I took the 313 to the CAT dealer for them to check it out. Really concerned it may be the swing motor leaking hydraulic oil into the swing gear housing causing the issue. More traction would definitely be great on a job like this. Hey, I’m glad you enjoyed the message and I appreciate your encouragement… God Bless, Sam
Good Video as usual. Great Message. This Scripture was read Monday at my Aunts Funeral. Nothing can separate us. That's how much Christ loves us so we have Blessed Assurance.
Good message today, always helps to look at the bigger picture, fun video, got tired just watching you drag that brush! Thanks again for the message and video
I’ve enjoyed all of your videos and this one is no different. Keep your tenacity and that overcoming spirit. Looking forward to the next one!! May the Lord bless you and strengthen you and your family!!😊
Your new nickname is going to be "Smoky" -- Thanks for doing what you do and sharing with all of us. You may or may not agree, but you have a ministry, and it is reaching people and places we cannot fathom. Also -- I'm going to keep feeding my 302 a steady diet of driveway gravel and ditch dirt...Eventually, it'll grow up and be a nice 313 like yours 😎
Hey Cujo how’s it going. This is the job I was on when we talked. Wow, what a mess! I definitely see this a ministry and no doubt it is reaching folks even in different countries around the world. Feed that 302 some cow poop from a barn yard job and just like that a 313 will pop up in its place…😀🤣
A Gullah proverb...Every back is fitted to the burden. "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 Good Job, Sam. We are familiar with the perils of burning brush and trees... ( Kitty Cat needs a bath.) Best regards, Mike&Pat
Thanks Mike&Pat, I appreciate that! I like that part that says “I will give you rest”. 😀 The CAT definitely needs a bath.🤣 I appreciate the gift that you sent and the letter that you wrote. I appreciate the encouragement for sure… God Bless, Sam
Burn Baby Burn 🔥 You are far more patient than me. I would have shut down and done equipment maintenance. I was thinking before you started sliding down the hill that the red dirt looked slick as $&!? Great message! That one hit home today! Keep up the great work and thanks for all you do!
Gosh, I feel your pain of not being able to start a brush pile. Been burning brush, with my dad, for 50yrs without a problem. I have 3 large piles of Larch tops & branches and cannot get it started!😮
Oh that looked slick and you proved it was many times in the video. Might be a good idea to look around and remove dead trees before you start burning in the future. Good message. I needed the encouragement.
You guys got the rain too! I had a steep hill to go down with skid loaded on the 25ft flat deck over today. It had been freshly graded by a dozer for some reason. Put the truck and trailer in the ditch. I was hollering for the Lord to help. All was fine but I went the rest of the way down in the ditch.
@@tristardiggin I called the boss and asked him how many times I get to out the truck in the ditch before I get a write up lol. I did it during the winter storm we had too. In the dark and the fog I hit a place that was about an inch or so of ice. Slid for maybe 4-500 feet before I stopped. Still no damage. The Lord been watching over me.
Man, you got a lot done, especially considering how muddy it was. Unfortunately, we are in the wet part of the year. This is the hardest part of the year to work because of that. It makes working in the dirt twice as hard. I can't believe straw is $8 a bale there. I pay $4 out of the field and $5 out of the barn. I usually buy 2-300 bales when they cut wheat and bale the straw to use on my yard projects. Great message today. Thanks for sharing Sam.
Yup, we are definitely in the monsoon season! 🥵 Right, that straw is high dollar. I had a guy comment on here that he pays $25 per bale where he is at. 😳 Glad you enjoyed the message and appreciate you always commenting on the videos. God Bless
Great video as always. Do you run iso or sae controls? And do you have any reasoning behind it or just preference? I learned on sae and absolutely can’t get the hang of the other so I was just curious.
Thanks I appreciate that! I use excavator controls. It’s what I learned how to use and just stuck with it. I tried backhoe controls and it just didn’t translate over. I suppose there are folks that can do either one but I have just stuck with what I know. Thanks, Sam
Thanks Patrick, that’s definitely a good place for one. I’ve got one in the cab in the holder behind the seat. Hope I never need one but we have them just in case…
There is a giant seal that goes all the way around the ring gear. You can blow it out by over greasing the ring gear. I did it on my first excavator. Doesn't really hurt anything...maybe over long term it would from getting contaminants, Debris in the gear, mostly it makes a mess
Thank you Steve, I appreciate that. I’m doing a follow up video on it and now it’s at the CAT dealer getting checked out. The service manager found a service bulletin in his computer talking about the shaft in the swing motor getting loose and leaking hydraulic oil in the swing gear housing causing this issue. Hope to hear something this week from them… Thanks, Sam
Michael that would have been a really tough job with the 308. Probably would have been asking too much of the 308 on that one.🥵 Thanks and I appreciate you watching and commenting…
I wish straw was that cheap in Florida, last time I checked it was around $25 a bale. We’re chainsawing noodles for erosion control when we put seed down.
My 322 has the same issue with the grease coming out all the way around the turn table. I've narrowed the problem down to the seal on the bottom of the swing drive is shot and needs replaced. Leaks about 5 gallon of oil a month.
Thanks Andrew, I appreciate the info. Did some more checking and actually doing a videos on how it’s going. I inspected the seal and it seems to be in great shape. My fear is what the service manager found in his computer about hydraulic oil leaking from the swing motor and thinning the grease causing it to leak excessively.
@tristardiggin yeah, without proper grease the turn table bearing will go out and you have to split the machine to replace it. The swing drive seal is way easier to replace if that's indeed the problem. Did you check your swing drive oil level?
@andrewcrosby8746 It does look like the seal is still solidly in place. I pulled the plate off to check the swing gear grease and it was low but most of it has seeped out. The grease was very thin so I suspect the hydraulic oil is leaking into the swing gear housing. Hoping to hear something this week for the CAT dealer after they get a chance to inspect it.
I ran cat equipment for 22 years at a rock quarry about 10 years on a excavator. Grease did the same around the swing. Nether our mechanic or mechanics from Blanchard dealership ever said anything about it
Thanks Mickey, hoping it’s not the swing motor leaking hydraulic oil into the swing gear housing. But, the CAT service manager thinks it’s a possibility… Sam
