I know you're joking but he does have a pilots license so really he is only experiencing the novelty of being flown around in a Spitfire as opposed to Jeremy having the novelty of both being in a Spitfire and experiencing flight in a small plane.
Yes sure :) even tho these are proppeler aircrafts they still go fast thes spitfires flew about 600-700 kmph thats fast for these planes and yes the g forces were present as well about 4-7 g’s fun assured :)
Clarkson is living his childhood dreams - May is just enjoying the ride - Hammond is clearly put on a brave face, but would like to get off haha xD i couldn't actually do this, my motion sickness would actually kill me, it gets bad, i can't travel on the bus for more than 10mins without feeling the urge to vomit, my stomach acid goes into overdrive.
They say you should never meet your heroes but that's for human heroes clearly clarkson met his hero that day and was not disappointed! The Spitfire, you've got to love it 😍
Thankyou! Someone had to say it. Well.. Of the Battle of Britain anyway...the Hurricane was obsolete later on...Those who give all the credit to the Spitfire REALLY need to read some credible accounts of the Battle.
@@BaldMancTwat Are you kidding? They are the most beautifully restored (and heavily controlled/inspected) aircraft around...all the current warbirds are. Mollycoddled and cared for like few machines, ever.
love it great TV though it (boring sod) it was actually the Hurricane that shot down more enemy planes during the battle of Britain, though those Rolls Royce Merlin engines sound wonderful
I wonder how much effect the addition of the extra ( and high/airflow-disrupting ) cockpit back there affects the handling... Great shot though, and great music choice.
Ste Cork I wouldn’t have thought that much to be honest. Hammond and Mays spitfires were the ones with inline cockpits, so the second one doesn’t protrude out at all, gives pretty poor forwards visibility I’d wager but probably easier to instal. Jeremy s is a different type, with a taller canopy and I think that probably would cause a bit of drag. These old spits are never max performed though and they have an abundance of power having lost the 8 machine guns and associated ammunition so I wouldn’t say the handling is much different
I know the episode when they arrived in Germany in three Spitfires to take on Top Gear Germany, but I'm absolutely sure that this particular UA-cam clip of that episode was never broadcast on BBC Top Gear that evening and I think it was probably cut from that episode for not being PC by the BBC. 😠
Wonderful episode...but you don't actually think those three Spitfires flew to Belgium do you? Note the careful editing..and the fact you do NOT see the aircraft and the Germans in the same shot.... I don't actually care..it was a wonderful piece of TV....
Well the exact D-day perhaps not but Germany would have fallen via Russia, and the allies coming up Italy or other routes into Mainland Europe. And the Spitfire gets the credit but the heavy lift was the Hurricane. Just not enough Spitfires. But the Spitfire is one sexy plane.
What a bunch of overgrown schoolboys... and I can only approve and acknowledge my sheer jealousy.
Hammond be like: "hmmm its nothing, I've stood outside a plane before"
I know you're joking but he does have a pilots license so really he is only experiencing the novelty of being flown around in a Spitfire as opposed to Jeremy having the novelty of both being in a Spitfire and experiencing flight in a small plane.
@@BaldMancTwat Richard did sit ON TOP of a biplane. Search it on UA-cam
@@somebody7262 he did that a few years after this was filmed
James and Hammond both have flying licenses. Explains why both of them are so chill about it. Jezza on the otherhand.. Out of control excitement!
May we all one day find the amount of joy in our lives that Jezza has in the cockpit of this Spitfire.
It brought tears to my eyes also. And I'm not even British. What a joy to get to experience that.
Surely not. If you were truly british you would be unable to display emotions.

Clarkson: non stop talking
James May: thank you very much.
Hammond: 😁😁😁
This makes me smile so much! All three of them having such a good time!
My reaction would be Jeremy's 10000000%

+Michael Bradley Ty for life story
+Michael Bradley There are plenty of over-the-counter drugs that can deal with motion sickness.
Pretty accurate, yeah.
+Michael Bradley I think Hammond is the one who is most used to things like this... he's no alien to flying himself!
Navyblue95 I know he is... both of them are.

0:39 good thing HSBC sponsored the allies!
I wanna go up in a Hawker Hurricane... the true Royal Air Force fighter hero of WWII
Thankyou! Someone had to say it. Well.. Of the Battle of Britain anyway...the Hurricane was obsolete later on...Those who give all the credit to the Spitfire REALLY need to read some credible accounts of the Battle.
Hammond is pleased, May is blazed and Clarkson is over the moon
Now how could you not smile at that
I was smiling the entire time, I realized that when the video ended. Lol
If I can only do one more thing before I die it'd have to be to go up in a spitfire
And it probably would be the last thing judging on the condition of most Spitfires.

Most people discount the Hurricane... Not really sure why though.
Thank you. Jeremy even knew this as he was on QI when they were talking about it but he didn't like it.
Mr May would agree with you, as he showed us during an episode of TGT (can't remember which one)
"You've got a hole in your left wing"
Finally, James love heights.
Anyone realized how james was looking in the indicators before takeoff because he got a pilots license and terrified of heights at the same time ? 😂😂😂
Madd Yılmaz I’m a pilot and I hate heights too, it’s weird and it’s one of those things that’s actually quite common :)
Oh wow, awesome. What a thrill that must be.
I'm Dutch and I can imagine how Jeremy feels
Epic
I would give anything to fly in a spitfire
Relax. You only have to give 2750 (uh I don't really know where that pound sign is on my keyboard) to the right people
Give me one of your kidneys and I'll be able to sort that out for you..
You can for £700
This is such a cute thing to watch.
I'm a Jerry and I'm loving it. :)
Go, RCAF!
Lucky bastards
This video CANNOT get more British!

Hammond looks so ill here
Hammond :-D
So if Megan uploads extras, does that mean this was never aired?
Jeremey peaking his mic hurt my ears
