"I watched the Resident Evil films for their continuity."
"Continuity? What continuity? They're written by Paul W S Anderson."
"I was misinformed."
I have to say thank you Paul W. Anderson, because if it weren't for him. We would not get a lot of 50plus minute reviews from both of you.
Instablaster.
Just some background info on Milla's stunt double: During the shoot of the last RE movie, Olivia Jackson was rushed to the hospital where staff induced a coma. Jackson survived, but was left with monumental physical and emotional scars. The camera had ripped a portion of her jaw off, leaving her teeth exposed. She suffered nerve damage to her spine and her left arm was amputated above her elbow. Then she sued Paul W. S. Anderson for negligence.
I had a 4.5 hour drive today and this playlist resident evil series kept me entertained the whole time. You guys are so fun to listen to. I love that you’re not just reviewing the movie, you’re adding information that happened outside of it. Very informative!
Wow, I can only imagine Gary's face watching the beginning of the next movie... HAHAHA
Yes, we can already taste his suffering. Such sweet delights.... Pinhead would approve.
azraelswrd busta rhymes approves
Paul W.S should stop making movies
They ripped off Tony Jaa, except Jaa can run on people's shoulders without wires. Check out Ong Bak (2003). As a huge old school Kung Fu movie fan that action is painful.
26:53 “ no she just reads the script before everybody else “ 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One thing I gotta give to the movie franchise is that the totally apocaliptic scenario after the viral break seems a lot more likely than the "the virus goes under control and we have some outbreaks here and there" scenario we see in the games.
While Alice's outfit made no sense in the story, and it did look uncomfortable, aesthetically it was pretty much the whole point of the movie: meaningless visual fetish.
That intro music is really good.
One of the few good things from Resident Evil Retribution.
Would like a final film about Resident Evil fans breaking and entering P.W. Anderson and Milla's mansion about this massacred plot and the fans corner Milla and Paul, Paul apologizes and then stares at Milla and she nods, then they come out shooting.
magical space clip falls from nowhere to re-load her gun at 13:00 min, like.... we rewinded the scene and looked to see if she threw one up, but nope... space clip
Lmfaoo no pun intended but *Nice Catch*
Rewatch the movie, if you can stomach it. It’s there. She hears an audible click when pulling the trigger letting her know the gun is empty (this doesn’t happen with that type of handgun irl, btw). A zombie knocks her arm as she is inserting the magazine and it goes flying into the air. This isn’t shown in the clip but it’s in the film.
@@PondoSinatra680 cool, but i cant re-watch, it sucks too bad, especially compared to my knowledge of res evil video games.... the first movie even back then made me say wtf, let alone these later ones. they suck imo and i don't care anymore, this comment i made was after me and my mom watched it whenever it was, i just had to look up what ppl thought, we thought it sucked soo bad with the editing, almost unwatchable. hope they re-boot it better someday.
Yeah, that Ada dubbing. Hated it. I'm with Iain -- fuck that noise. This mess was Resident Evil: The Fan Service by shoving as many game references (and game levels???) they could and killing most of them off (bye Barry). I like to think this mess was partially responsible for influencing Resident Evil 6 (game) since it was a similar easter egg clusterfuck and were developed/released at the same time (2012). It all makes sense..... ugh.....
30:38 They knock the Licker into the Liquor. I see what they did there
When i heard that i was surprised i never noticed.
45:53 agree with you on the licker scenes in this movie they were awesome.
You guys and Phelous Proteous are pretty much confirming that I am missing nothing by not watching any of these films, beyond the 2nd one (which I saw ages ago!).
Though I am wondering which has worse continutiy: Resident Evil, or Michael Bay's "Transformers" films?...then again, Bay's films are the lesser of the two evils, when it comes to rewriting continuity.
And yeah...where is Umbrella getting it's business if the entire world is wiped out!? There's no stock value to keep up if noone is buying your product in the wake of the zombie apocalypse!
Lol phelous was seriously dying inside during those reviews.
"Dont make that face" 😂😂😂👊 weevil and i have been in stitches watching these again, endless entertainment as always with you guys.👊
Literally had no fucking clue what was going on the entire film. Felt like five different movies all going on at once
Loving your work guys ! Thanks - so many vids recently, awesome !
"If you think thats bad, wait until the nxt one, dude!"
Have to love Ian trying to warn Gary about the crapfest that awaits him!
🤣🤣🤣🤣

The reviews are more entertaining the movies themselves.
These movies were all quite disappointing, I agree. But the one thing I can honestly say about most of them is that they had awesome soundtracks. Especially the themes for Afterlife and Retribution.
The composers Tom and Andy truly killed it with those scores.
The continuity is f**ked up in resident evil apocalypse on Jill's wall it says Leon was killed and she was under suspension and yet he's here no mention of him knowing Jill and what a waste of Barry he never got to see Jill and ask about a sandwich
These movies have no continuity. Dead characters come back as clones. Characters just disappear with a new movie with barely any reference later. New characters are introduced for no reason (ie. deaf daughter/clone baby... why are you here???) and game references with no context (ie. Majini Executioner, Las Plagas, Mutalisks) plus we can't forget the merry-go-round of Alice's superpowers when they can't decide if she has the T-virus or not (as in movie #6).
(after watching it.)The final chapter might be the ruffest of them all i think.
There's a sub-plot here that everyone has missed. The idiot Anderson has been intimately involved with Mila since Part 1, and THAT'S what this is really all about! He wants to showcase his missus at every opportunity, and wants us all to see how sexy and athletic she is. He's saying to us, "look at Mila. Shes's sexy, pretty, athletic, kicks ass and SHE'S MINE!!!" Now you all go home tonight and think about that, you bunch of mugs!!!". That's the real story of this francise.
She's not that sexy to me. So i lose out.
I think this fact is the only reason Anderson is actually NOT an idiot ... I couldn't care less about the RE franchise...as games and movies I don't care, overrated games anyway. But Mila? Hmmm.... waking up naked?
Also fun fact she was hooked up with Luc Besson also ... and woke up naked in Fifth Element ^^
Yeah
Kinda
He puts his wife in every single Resident evil movie.
That's true.
I still like the movies
Dispet the
So called Sub pot that you Described.
@@voxdraconia4035 you're an idiot
I didn't watch any of these after Extinction, and I feel sorry that you guys suffered through them.
Dude, they are totally into handing themselves over into those sufferfests
They endured Halloween, AVP and Hellraiser rundowns... suffering is only natural. :)
Hell Yeah! Funnily enough I actually watched this last night!
Keep up the great work guys! 👊
If the virus got rid of water where did the ice and snow come from?
It got better in #4, LOL. Yeah, remember that every movie after #3 retcons the previous movie's lore -- I guess to make each movie stand on their own.
Not the mention the giant body of water that the whole facility is beneath.
Just discovered your Chanel! I really enjoy your vids 👍🏼 keep it up
This was the first Resident evil film that I watched in theaters
Hahaha did u get ur money back
I saw 2 & 3 in the theater
it would have been a massive thing for alice if she actually had a real family in racoon city away from her fake marriage in the hive and the second movie was her looking for them while being hunted by umbrella and when this clone showed up in this film it would have been a situation of I know this girl isnt my daughter but I have a second chance now sort of thing, hell actually have Carlos be her real life husband, makes their weird romance make sense and when he dies it would be more emotional and would make the whole simulation make sense
The plot of people trapped in a facility with simulated environments for BOW testing actually came from an official novel by a Perry person who wrote all the official novels. The novel did it a lot better of course.
I heard that Michelle Rodriguez was suppose to be the lead role in all 6 movies, & Milla bitched about it to her husband Paulie Boy the rest was history from there. I also heard Matthew Mercer himself in a interview that, he was suppose to dub Leon's voice in Resident Evil:Retribution. Paul W.S. pulled a Vincent Kennedy McMahon, by burying Barry in this crap fest of a movie. The live action version of Ada is cute, in my opinion. By the way I love, Iain's WWE Hat.
42:35 Kill Jill Volume One.
I thought he exact same thing^^
This film was brought to you buy Caesar's Legion. - "RETRIBUTION!"
Great job guys and as a die hard RE fan I feel your pain watching this crap. I can not believe there are people in this world who like and defend this pile of thurd.
Kingsservant83 all those movies are blasphemy to the gaming community if you ask me
Loved your review and echo everything you guys had to say about the movie. You do know that George A. Romero was meant to write and direct the first Resident Evil movie and there's a copy of his script online if you look hard enough. It has has pretty much all the main characters from the first game, happens in the mansion like the first game but with only minor tweaks to the story and characters. For some stupid reason Capcom rejected the idea but yet there were happy for George A Romero to direct a live action tv ad for Resident Evil 2 the game which was only used I think in Japan.
28:17 maybe those were the Original characters before in part 1 before they were cloned , or before their clones were ready and made? maybe they werent cloned untill Umbrella finally figured out how to Clone? Just dunno a wondering thought or 2.
you know for a strike team they sure dress for it don't they, barry could have at least strapped some body armour on under his bloody jacket
Barry's Death Was The Fuck You Movie I Needed. Great Stuff Guys!
38:47 Maybe Alice figured its better that the Clones Die then be used eventually by Umbrella?
*JustShowMeTheCarFax*
haven't seen you guys in forever, awesome
39:53. WHY IS THE THERE A FACEHUGGER IN THE INJECTION??!!!
These movies utterly suck (I bundle them in with the likes of Underworld), but, Gary and Iain, you guys have spoiled us recently, loads of uploads and re-uploads, absolutely brilliant! You guys are a joy to watch, in fact, you guys remind me of my mate Mark and myself when we watch films! we do a similar irreverent commentary as the film plays, that's why I love your channel. Brilliant work, guys! note to Paul W. S. Anderson, I've seen you in interviews, you seem a really nice, cool and together guy, and Milla is gorgeous (had a serious crush on her when I saw Fifth Element) but, mate, stay away from a camera or director's chair! Milla Jovovich, along with Sarah Douglas (as Ursa) and Jane Badler (Diana from V) , my dream women! (guess I just like women with strong personalities!).
At 20:53, am I right at noticing, that on the Toyota Prius that crashed, that it's covered in GREEN SCREEN markers for the bullet holes to be put in digitally? If so, that's REALLY bad, but in this series of films, anything goes! has to be one of the most dismal, and repetitive series of films ever (well, along with Underworld)
Another thing I noticed! At 30:44, when Alice turns up in the Rolls Royce, she's completely stopped still, and yet the car's wheels continue to rotate! not to mention all four of them! Rolls Royce's are not 4 wheel drive! so what's that about? My god, whoever was responsible for checking proofs of this film needs stringing up! I'm a keen amateur photographer (and a total film geek) , so I spot stuff like this!
Wow, I never noticed that before but I don't want to watch this mess again just to check. LOL
azraelswrd Totally understand! Absolute nonsensical rubbish
@@mistermatix8241 It's not the wheels rotating, they have spinners on the rims.
I love youre work boys ! Youre awesome ;)
The Resident Evil Movies:
can be like a guilty pleasure.
I'm burnt out on the resident evil franchise
Talia Price there blasphemy to us true resident evil gaming fans
Talia Price
YOU ARE
BEAUTIFUL
🌹🌷💐
The end of this movie reminds me of my trip to DC back in April :)
MisterTutor2010 was everything turns to shit at the time since the war monger in control???
(at around 52 mins) During the car chase with the Zombie Russian army the music playing is called 'Phantom Chase' by tomandandy. This references music from the original Resident Evil (1996) video game, particularly 'Second Floor Mansion'.
Jensen Ackles was considered for the role of Leon S. Kennedy, but the role later went to Johann Urb.
Although Carlos Olivera has a major role in the plot, Oded Fehr's name is curiously absent from the opening titles.
Matthew Mercer who voiced Leon S. Kennedy from the games and the voice used for the audition's reference audio, tried out for the role and didn't get it. He still finds the situation hilarious to this day.
The first shot in the movie of Alice rising from the water is entirely CGI.
With a 5.4 IMDB score, this is the lowest rated film in the Alice-focused live action Resident Evil franchise on IMDB.
The costume and brainwashing device that Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory) wears on her person are taken directly from Resident Evil 5 (2009). The difference is that in that game, Jill is mind-controlled to ally with Albert Wesker (not Umbrella), and it is during a long fight with Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar (not Alice, who hasn't appeared in the games) that they manage to remove the device, after which Jill comes to her senses again.
The demise of Rain was the fall in the icy water. It was Milla Jovovich's suggestion that the swimming zombies had to appear as well and it was added during production.
This is the first time in Resident Evil history that Jill and Leon have ever met. Canon or otherwise.
The scene between Ada Wong and Alice in the underground office is a re-enactment of the scene in Resident Evil 4 (2005) where Leon S. Kennedy meets with Ada for the first time in the Salazar Family castle bedroom. Wong wears the exact same outfit in both the game and this movie. The film also includes Ada's climbing pistol and her interactive sunglasses from that game.
I think this movie was better then part 4 which was very silly and confusing too. this one i found easier storyline wise to follow an felt abit more fun then part 4.
Resident Evil Retribution: Saving Alice Lol
I love it! Thank you Gary for that xD
I can't wait either.
I wanna see Garys reaction to the begining of Final Chapter lol.
Wait... The licker was knocked into a liquor store? *sigh* I... I never noticed that before...
Funny how all these movie's were written by the same guy, yet he screws up his own story every movie.
It really is amazing. 😂
I just found this channel. These 2 guys are great!!!!!
I watched the whole series the other day to remind myself how shit it was, and then I've found Your reviews. Those were so funny, entertaining and it was soo nice to see someone complaining about all the same stuff as me. Thanks guys for that ❤️
I had no idea this movie existed.
Leon was in Retribution
Ugh!
Resident evil has a Dues ex grenade moment
the RED QUEEN
is
SKYNET
Even if these movies are bad.. at least we got these reviews out of them
ahahahaha I'm laughing so hard at the anger at 16.30
At 6:06 is it just me or with the way Alice calmly talks comes off kind of annoying in every RE film?
Sounds like her throat lining is made out of Sandpaper. Lol
I've seen this when it was channel four but I had to turn it of it was so bad lol Leon trying to touch Ada's knee and her rejecting him lol best part
Shattered that the last 2 RE reviews have been blocked in Australia due to copyright. Ridiculous.
It's okay guys, Barry's still alive in the games. The films are just a bad fever dream. Also, this is the only time I'm going to watch these turds through these reviews, you guys are always entertaining.
I remember watching this movie in theaters my dad complaint to the manager because someone was screaming
I think Patrick Stewart pulled a Michael Caine a la Jaws 4 there. :P
"never seen jaws 4, but the house it built is quite nice" - michal caine :D lol
i like to think he read the bit and thought it was for a tech company ad, his agent said yeah this umbrella company has lots of products and theyre gonna insert it in this movie. So he said sure ill do it. Lol.
34:02
GARY THREW UP
JUST A LITTLE
AWESOME!!!!!!
This one had STYLE of course NO SUBSTANCE. The fights at the end were ridiculous.
Btw people love to shoot double guns in the air 😆 lol
Those flying zombies look like they ripped off Starcraft's Mutalisks
"I can only assume so..." lmao
Never noticed Ada was dubbed tbh
I like the sons of anarchy t shirt Gary
This film is so bad it made me mutate into the hideous creature I am today.
Fuck you Resident evil retribution is an awesome film
@@lancehernandez1044 Fuck you right back, it *isn't*
The best part of this movie was Luther Smacking Michelle in the face with a fire extinguisher. That sound make me laugh so hard
Mila was actually good on her role of action heroine if you can call it that way , it was the whole movie that was a disaster , I also like the character of Michelle Rodriguez i think she is a underrated actress
Do pulse 1988. Simple story. And I might just say it needs a remake.
OMG I forgot about this one I thought it was Final Chapter lol I haven’t seen this one
In this one the Red Queen wants to release the Virus in the Next Movie She wants to Stop the Virus Very Huh? Wha?
The reason they give for Final Chapter's Red Queen is also very..... huh wha? But then again, that whole movie is a big WTF anyways.
I literally don't remember any sequences from this movie.
12:31 Who the fuck she thinks she is? Simon Belmont from the Castlevania games?!
I have not seen this movie, only the first two, it seems like I knew when to stop but you guys manage here that I feel your pain having go through this and witnessing some of your favorite characters gone to waste, especially Leon and Ada in my case...while the actors seem to look the part, I don't know about their acting, although you never know in a bad movie with poor dialogue what actors would be capeable of in a descent working enviroment with stuff to work with.
The only thing they could do now, since these movies did good financially, RE is now again in the spotlight though the amazing remakes and movies like Sin City, Watchmen and the whole Marvel adaptations show that keeping it close to the source material can make money would be three good reasons for higher ups of whoever holds the rights right now to make something out of it. And these are purely financial reasons, something they listen to...
I liked this resident evil retribution for me its the best one
Andersons' skill (or lack of) is beyond incompetence. It's amazing how this almost non-stop zombie killing spree can be this boring.
26:08 should the Russian Zombies instead look "Red" instead of blue? (rim-shot.)
1:54
I had to watch it again and again someone make a meme!
Why don't you two review the ACTUAL Resident Evil films that star the actual resident evil cast? (The animated ones of course).
Can you guys review Resident Evil: Degeneration?
Good work guys lol
Hats off to you guys. I stopped watching after the last one. The only good thing these movies gave us is your reviews of them!
I might be alone in this, but I actually liked resident evil apocalypse. It was the only one that I enjoyed.
From what I've read the team in the original (including rain) were real humans but they had been cloned i assume without their knowledge 🤷♂️🤔
That was very weird
How did took their DNA
Because they all died in the hive in the first film
Including one which he got cut to pieces and rain became a zombie in the end and got shot by Matt in the train
I Watched this and the final chapter Once and that was enough to realise, what a humongous bag of licker dribble they made.. this ain't Resi Evil....it's absolute bollks.
Fk me... I'd rather watch Mortal Kombat Annihilation or that God dam awful Dragonball Evo or even Tekken 2 movie over this steaming pile of Cerberus shit...
Btw great review as always guys. Keep em coming 😎
THEY JUST FARTIN OUT ANY LITTLE RESIDENT EVIL CHARACTERS IN THESE MOVIES GIVIN NO FUCKS AND GETTING THE CAHRACTERS ALL WRONG LMFAO
HOW DID THEY MANAGE TO BUILD ALL THESE HIGHTECH UMBRELLA BASES IN THE APACLYPSE

What do you guys really think of the RE Movie Series.
What a mess of continuity of the Resident Evil movie franchise. It’s like as if these films were made cheap like £100 and still looks like crap. Hope Paul W.S Anderson and Milla Jovevich should stay away from the video game series and hopefully get a reboot of a proper Resident Evil Movie that we deserve. Stick to the games and the animated movies, there way better than this mess of film franchise that does not deserve to have Resident Evil as a film title.
