This song inspired me to pull an old Ford truck out of the weeds and build it after i got out of the Army.... still have it and the memories...... Steve in a legend
Got an ad for one of his events. Called him the legendary Steve Earle. How'd that happen? I remember when I started listening to him when he was a young guy like me back then starting out. I was in my mid 20's. 61 now and I still listen to him. Where'd the time go? He's part of the soundtrack of my life. I guess he is a legend.
Was at that concert myself. Saw him a few years previous to that in Belfast where he had the full band with him, that was some night. Then for the 3rd time saw him in Jackson’s hotel in ballybofey. Walked in by mistake when he was doing a sound check but was invited to stay in. His roadie told me to wish Steve a happy birthday which I did, he gave me a massive hug before signing my concert ticket. He’s some talent.
To see the good Christian folk of the Grand Ole Opry sit still and listen to Steve Earl’s Copperhead Road was something I didn’t expect to be on my bucket list, but damn it is. Next I’d love to see Old Crow Medicine Show do Tell It To Me in the same venue.
I remember when Guitar Town came out - loved that album to death. Wore out a few cassette copies. Got the chance to see Steve play Diamond Club in Toronto March 5/87 (still gots the ticket stub) - awesome show! Thanks for postin' this Opry appearance!
Caught him in a club back when he had a full head of hair and no beard. Always been a fan of his music. I remember when FM rock stations played this tune in regular rotation.
I caught him at HSBG a couple of years ago.. I look forward to seeing him sometime in a full show. This song inspired me on my own mando.. so fun to play! Huge fan. I've been digging on J.T., Guy, and Jerry Jeff lately. Fantastic!
They are supposed to sit there as the performance is live on the radio and is videoed for later broadcast. You see the same thing on Austin City Limits, Live from Nashville, The Marty Stuart Hour, and other country shows.
@Izonda Skyz Steve is playing to a respectful audience that appreciates music. An audience that is there to listen to the artist and not to think it is about them screaming like little girls.
I was locked up w this ol guy a cpl yrs back swore up n down he let u smash his ol lady back right around when u just dropped either this or guitar town hahaha 😂 he sure cld come up w sum shit
Do ya know who this song was originally written for Elvis Presley!!! He passed 😢 before it was ever recorded!!!! Steve Earle claims he never made a dime from this song!!! & originally who plays a mandolin!!!!
@@jackgtx440 Thats putting it mildly, he more of a socialist/Marxist. Lost all respect for him when he came out with John Walker Blues. This is the song that was feeling so sad and respected the fact that Walker is a traitor to the United States as he went over to the Taliban.
I'm a 79 year old woman, and I play this song on UA-cam at least once a week. Great song.
And I hope you drive down copper head road with your own brew, go for it girl. 👍🥃
Keep on rocking girl
Glad you enjoyed this. I was happy I had the opportunity to see him, especially at the Grand Ole Opry
We never had and have to see something so beautiful.. Love from India
I'm 42 and me too honey!! Rock on!!!🤘
My younger brother introduced me to Steve Earle many years ago. Thanks Steve (my brother)

Retired Army myself, good story and agree Steve is a legend.
Thanks your service to bad I can't say that for the Joe Biden loving gun banning Steve Earle
This is my favourite Steve Earle song. I've been listening to it regularly for years, never get tired of hearing it. Classic Steve Earle 👌
As a Canadian from Ontario, he was famous in our Province, hence in Canada! Amazing ...

Saw him live in Derry, in 2014, no band, just himself, great performance, truly nice guy

This song just gets better as it matures!

I’m sorry for your loss……it is a very good tune…..
here is something you probably did not know, Steve Earle has been supported by The Oak Ridge boys for many years. they helped him get his start

As a rule I'm not really into Country/bluegrass music though there some I do like, this is one I absolutely love.
Steve is a great song writer.
A great American storyteller

I just found out today that there are two Steve Earle and the Dukes shows soon near me, I also found out today that they were both sold out! (Chicago)
Bummer
Good song
Would like to shake his hand. He is the real deal.
Classic
WOW
I was there. I came home with a brand new plan.
Nice nice
My vote for the best one hit wonder song in Rock'n Roll history!
Love the drums, now this is REAL music...not that pop crap disguised as country!
Steve earle LOVE to play well together and Casey Anthony was 🤩😃💍👚🎳⚾️🙋♀️😊💘💄❤💗💞
Band is tight
I’m thinking I’m prolly not the fan the grand ole Opry is looking for. I would have been up and cuttin’ a little rug. They were just sitting there?
That’s right get up and shake a leg!!!

Not exactly a song to dance to 🤦🏻♂️
@@dreamweaver662 guitar town!
Was that you in the back of the room I heard when he started singing 🤟
Are they playing to a live audience or dead? 😳
PLAN DEMIC

If there is a god (and harlequin ichthyosis tells me there is and they/them has a sense of humor), this song will die with Del Lindenberg.
You gotta live it to feel it. Bob Lazar knows. Jim knows. Tom knows.
What a song!
Good music bad politics.
What’s his politics?

Kind of a lifeless version, if you ask me.
I knew Steves father. Good guy. When Steve first started out his father asked me if I wanted to invest in him. I declined. I am not a fan.
Jack was awesome

Actually that isn't even close to what the song is about.
Used to be one my favorites, the song not the singer, too much of socialist for me.
great song, terrible video
Glad that he showed up in Nashville! George Harvey Strait will never be a member! Keep your ass in Texas!
So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song. Hello
PHONY STEVE EARLE COMMENTS ON HERE.
