My father was a huge fan of Steve Earle. His music was a huge part of my child hood. He passed away June 13th 2023. He had a ticket to his concert. On July 8th me, my mother and sister attended his concert in Fort Worth, tx. My mother emailed several people from his team. To our surprise they answered back on the day of the concert. Gave us v.i.p. Passes and gave us the opportunity to hangout with Steve for awhile back stage and tell him about my father. Steve is an amazing artist and went out of his way to make our day very special. This in my opinion doubles him as an artist. Thank you once again Steve.
Awesome, i am a 60 year old Harley riding, construction working M.F. Have enjoyed your music for a long time. I am a big fan of Skynyrd, zz top, molly hatchet, all the blues gods, Especially Mr. BB King. And i hold you in the same company, thank you Sir for the work that has brought us so much joy!
What a great story, I'm really glad for you and your family, it's a memory you'll hold your whole life. I've listened to him for years. Being on the West Coast, I didn't grow up with a lot of his type of music, but I've come to love that group from Austin. I've heard him interviewed a few times, he is really not only smart and level-headed, but also warm-hearted.
You telling that story almost brought tears to my eyes, it was just a terrific song, telling a wonderful story of some of our early countries heritage❤
No it isn't this is what Nashville is for... We didn't elect officials to go up there to nominate somebody for a song, how did that help any of our districts in the United States??
If they were doing it right, they'd legalize weed, not have Steve Earle perform a song about growing it in the House because they like to clothe themselves in the aesthetics of protest. I love Steve Earle, let there be no doubt, but this is him clowning on the legislators.
Who wudda thunk it? After John Walker Blues this day has come for Steve Earle in Tennessee. I'm so proud of him. Steve Earle is my favorite songwriter of all time.
He only plays it on mandolin first song he wrote on mandolin and plays it live on mandolin. I'm a long time guitarist and bought a mandolin to teach myself which has been on yt for 10 yrs Jason Wallace Copperhead rd. A Liverpool cowboy sings Steve earle.
Steve earle's son Justin Townes Earle was an amazing musician, he died a few years ago but everyone should check his music out. Start with his song Harlem river blues.
First time I heard this song it was when I was living in West Virginia I loved it. I feel it touches the very core of life through the self. Anyone that was ever involved in the moonshine trade the men that drove the cars some of them being stuck car racers later in life to me, it’s a song rich in our country’s history, a tip of the Stetson to Steve Earle. God bless you, sir.❤
Went from the Big House of the Tennessee Prison to the State House to sing his Copperhead Road song, that's no small feat by any measure. PS. You still owe me another Rock n Roll record Steve. Dig down deep I know it's in you. Peace
Sorry I missed this first recording of this. But I'm very happy for finding this now than never. My name is Charlie Glover I met you and your wife in concert here in Nashville. It's really weird how everyone try to knock you down when you try to do something. Sorry about losing your wife. But you got a son out of it. John Henry Earle. He got my middle name. Sorry about losing one of your other sons. Love you all. Thank You for doing this. P.S. I'm still waiting for the guitar. I'm in mitchellsville TN now.
I'm an old school metal head from small town Nova Scotia, Canada no where Tennessee and I'm a fan of Steve Earle well enough of a fan to have 2 of his albums, Guitar Town and Copperhead Road
Steve Earle is amazing. Saw him a couple of nights ago. So glad he walked off and reminded the legislators that they should check out "The Devil's Right Hand" off the Copperhead Road Album. A little schooling for the super majority in the Tennessee Legislature. Steve Earle is a mensch.
@@mamabragg Well since I'm a fan of his, thinking about the song and lyrics, I'm afraid to say it seems that way. Or maybe he's telling them that parents need to do more and be more like Idk PARENTS since they made a human being who didn't ask to be here, teach them about guns, how to respect guns, how guns are a tool like a hammer and a saw, used correctly tools can save alot of things but used wrongly they can cause alot of bad things to happen. I don't get ppl blaming an object. If a tree falls down on home or car during a storm it's not trees fault. It didn't wait for decades to 1 day finally fall on anything. Too many parents who shouldn't be, need to spend 100% more time at home with kids then at work chasing that dollar, worried about their place in society, and just worry about being there for kids. I grew up with guns everywhere loaded. I was taught from early age not to touch them until I was older. then I was taught all about them. I mean we had kids in Marines in bootcamp who never drove a car, held a gun and we all was safe. Nobody got hurt, shot, etc. We're too busy by design of coarse, having to work and spend all our time in wrong place, with wrong ppl. It's far better to be poor, have nothing but be there for kids. They womt recall how many toys or phones they got, but will recall if mom or dad was around or not.
I love Steve Earle no doubt....hes been in Buffalo Valley so much they should name a street after him in Hohenwald. That being said...is this what lawmakers should be focusing on???
The Irony of it all is Steve is singing about illegal activities in front of a state law making body. He did a great job. The only thing missing were the pipes, they would have been great sounding in that chamber.
Not to mention what he’s raised hell about all his life and how much he hated everything they are, yet here he is and they made this song a state song of Tennessee. Who’s the hypocrite. Lol 😮
U gotta check out his acting chops on Leaves of Grass - awesome movie featuring Lonely are the Free , one of my favorites of his. Absolute FAV is You Belong to Me.
I couldn’t place what movie he was in, then it hit me…he was of the HBO series The Wire. Great song and funny the whole song is about breaking the law and he is singing to the lawmakers. Awesome.
Love you mate. Don't you ever give up on protecting what is special to your people.❤

You telling that story almost brought tears to my eyes, it was just a terrific song, telling a wonderful story of some of our early countries heritage❤
One of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion
It says more than some people realize.
Damn right.
Yes Sir!
I love that he threw in the Devil’s right hand at the end. If you know the song, you know what that was about
No
So cool! The woman on his left knew ever word & was "way" into it. She was ready to break loose & let it all hang out! Love it.
🤣
LMAO great song, but she is dippy notice how everyone else is just standing around like what day is it lol
I zoomed in on the speaker, he smiled and tapped his finger 😂😂😂😂
Let her live man, she ain't hurting nobody
On his ~right~.
I love this song. My Cherokee Grandfather made moonshine with a copper still in Western North Carolina during prohibition. RIP.
Mine too Robert,
Great gramps was a Dr.
Passed thru OK state on way to AZ.😊
Steve Earl’s music will never die.
Legends don’t die
Tennessee doing it right.. National treasure

Named one of Tennessee's State Songs. Congratulations! That's a high honor.
I literally got goosebumps watching this. Steve is a real national treasure. I'm 60 and I've been listening to him since I was a young man.
@@mikeh.753 I'm 61 and I've been listening to him for awhile to!

Never been prouder to be from the great state of Tennessee.
Awwww man! THAT was Fantastic! What a tribute…on the House floor..!
Who wudda thunk it? After John Walker Blues this day has come for Steve Earle in Tennessee. I'm so proud of him. Steve Earle is my favorite songwriter of all time.
Not a bad actor either
To see and hear Steve perform this on Mandolin is such a treat!
That’s what he wrote it on and what he plays it on.

We have a Copperhead Road where I live in Canada. They stopped putting street signs up for it because they're stolen immediately. 😅
God Bless Tennessee and Steve Earle. Very good .
Made me cry. I love my state Tennessee. May God keep us free.
Reading your comment brought a tear to this combat veterans eye. All the best. Ever. Indeed, keep working to keep us free.
Rocky Top, Copperhead Road excellent Tennessee tunes
Love it. Good on TN for making it their state song.
Am I the only one hearing the grunts between verses? 😂
I hear it too lol 😂
It's like he's charging up each break up to then deliver a pretty clean voice lol
Growling between every line. Such an animal!😆
I am a huge Steve Earl fan, so very proud of him🎤🎼
Never thought I'd see the day something like this would ever happen inside the general assembly! Awesome!

Real life stories in one song. Not many songs can claim that.
I have been a massive fan of Steve since the release of this quite outstanding record. I must see him live before I pass away.
I hear you. I waited too long for John Prine. I really want to catch Steve Earle.
I'm in Scotland UK, seen Steve 9 times! You must see him
Such Authentic acoustical i ever heard..All the grunts and grinds just add to the Petina..Bless Steve Earle..
Steve Earl and Tennessee, both national treasures
Sounds good here in East Tennessee ✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸 God bless y’all

Bravo!! I'll never get there but at least now I know, there's a fearless breed of people down on Copperhead Road.
I want to visit Tennessee more than ever now.
Steve Earle is in the Tennessee statehouse???? He hates politicians lol
What a great idea to start a congressional meeting with music. You are onto something.
This is another reason I absolutely love America
using this opportunity as a sly way to point out the complete hypocrisy of prohibition and gun violence is brilliant.
Yup lol
I have a much better appreciation for our legislators, when they honor someone like Steve. Nicely done.
simply AWESOME ! ! !
That had to be one of the coolest things ever seen at a General Assembly.
Screw that. What he means is push for more gun control.

Steve Earle on the House floor on 420, He also wrote one of the Irish's most celebrated song, they claim for their own now, Galway, Ireland

God damn! I’m gonna have to move to Tennessee.
Rocky Top and Copperhead road. Makes for a fine day Makin music on the porch.
You know it's a great state when they make the state song about breaking the law lol
Thoroughly enjoyed that.
Awesome 👍 Well deserved ❤❤❤
Nice work man glad they let you ring..
