I am watching this from Scotland / UK. And it’s brilliant to see this fishing and helping the community of Guyana all down to Costa sunglasses which I own a pair of whitetip 2.5 for my eyes and there brilliant.👍🎣🏴🇬🇧😎
Handlining sounds way more serious (risky) than a fly rod for these powerful fish. Just the safety factor. Has to be an absolute blast on a fly rod though.
One of the coolest videos I have ever watched, one of my absolute dream fish to catch and to catch them on fly would be life changing. The story line was also incredible, awesome work Costa.
Truly awesome Costa. Well done and is every reason why I as a sport fisherman, been buying your excellent quality sunglasses all these years too. Keep up the good work 👍
So awesome. For anyone interested in the backstory of this fishery, listen to The Meateater Podcast where Rovin Alvin (one of these guides) was on and discussing how they have brought back these fish from near extinction in this area.
Arapaima were being caught in Guyana by fly fishermen, and women, back in the 70s. But nice video of a great fishing destination with a wide variety of game fish.

Really great. I wish something like this could be done here in Ecuador.
I fished there in 2013-awesome place and although didn't fish with Ash, he comes highly recommend.

This video is awesome. Did Jeremy Wade from River Monster catch a arapaima on a fly in Guyana?
He asked Oliver White to take him. I know this because I'm Oliver's stepson.
Excellent!

Amazing!
I love that the guy barbecuing an Arapaima brings up the fact that fishing for them is illegal
He's grilling a Arowana, not Arapaima. 😋 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arowana
