Years ago I read a comment on Jim Darkmagic's upload of this track that it sounds like someone whipping a brick and now that's all I see in my head when this plays. Thank you Nacalal for eternally breaking my brain for this song. Anyway I wish Doom 2 had more high energy tracks like Running From Evil in the earlier levels, but maybe it didn't fit the pacing as well.
I thought the Eternal one was going to be "Hell on Earth" from the first level since it was clearly inspired by Running From Evil. Forgot there was an actual direct update of Running From Evil in Eternal.
I just recently wish to fuse this song's instrumentation with "The Only Thing They Fear Is You" and see how that would work because both are Doom 2 in essence
I believe the reason as to why the GF1 version of doom tracks sounds weird is because of the fact the patches the Gravis uses in the "pro patches" set were always incorrectly set as another instruments, like how the slap bass and steel drum are switched around, and the rock organ you hear in running from evil's section after the intro are completely missing from the patches, or are being overwritten by a different sound in the bank (in this case patch 0, Acoustic Grand Piano)

You can most easily tell that the high synth instrument occasionally plays the same note as the beat in the DOS GF1 version.
Earth, what a planet! On Earth, you run from evil.
In Doom, evil runs from you!

oh wow why is the switch version so weird
Doom eternal had running from evil in battle mode
what about my house.wad. that also has running from evil.
doom 300
This has 2000 views and 172000 likes!😮
No My House.wad comments? 🥺
good ❤
This is awesome, but what's the official name for the DOOM ETERNAL one?
As far as I know its doesnt have an official name but it plays after winning in battlemode, and might be called like "Battlemode Victory Theme"
@@chepchanskiy Well, that explains why I haven't heard it. Never played battlemode. However, after hearing this, I may have to.
Thanks to Myhouse.WAD I can never hear this the same anymore.
GBA: Running from evil? More like CRAWLING from evil?
the switch version is SO CRUSTY. is the port super crusty as well?
It was when it first launched back in 2019, but nowadays, it's actually a pretty good port as they fixed most of the things wrong with it.
