I've played tapx alt for maybe 3ish years (and picking it up again recently) and I can say its a style im happy to have learned. When I saw yame's plays for the first time I thought it was the coolest way to play so I learned it myself. I'm nowhere near his level ofc but being able to at least have some decent speed and get a good play every now and then is a good feeling. I encourage people to try it if they want, but they should be warned that it takes a long time and dedication if you want to get good (as your video states with the top level players having high ass play counts) and that its not as easy as it seems..
Anyways, I’m a tap full alt player, and I think it would be pretty cool to share my experience. So for some reasons, I have always been especially fond of the idea of alternating ever since I played osu, so I started with zx full alt. Then at the time, Emilia was the best aim player in my opinion (not sure where the hell did I get that notion from lmao). So I decided to give it a try. With the assistance of the post from doki on Reddit, I started to play 2 star maps. I grind a shit ton of hours on a map called me and u. Despite being a 2 or 3 star map, it is full of triples and five notes stacks. Then I kind of just memorized how to hit them starting from different fingers. I think the fact that memorizing how to hit those stacks really affect how fast you learn tapx alt. For example, I can never hit a quad stack because it is super unnatural for me. I either hit a triple or just click one more unnecessary time, which is really stupid. I can somewhat stream under 20 notes but then just lose control after (can’t pass ice angel lol) or when the stream is doing the weird curving shit. Anyways, the worst of all is I can barely acc. I don’t know if it is just me, but I can’t read resulting some of my best accs to be around 97 and it can go as low as 83. It isn’t about stream either. It is just that the whole clicking and tapping process is fucked up. I don’t think low bpm is much of a problem for me when I occasionally read them properly (usually I don’t). Overall, don’t expect to be even close to any the best of the best players with this play style. Now talk about the pros(?). It feels really good to hit a slider. This makes map like beggars and come back down extremely fun to play. It also feels very good with jumps when I’m in a comfortable state and bpm. By the way, the worst part about it is that I can’t even stream high bpm lmao (probably because I haven’t learned dt yet) but the honesty guy is insane. I don’t think anyone who never tried to play style will understand how great that was. I was in awe. Anyways, I’m just a shit play with an average rank of 50000 or something. Also I totally forgot to mention how impossible spaced streams are, I can never fc anoeenene and get an a on Nyan nyan cat. My finger control is shit; can’t pass maid of fire (oni). So yeah, never regret it like doki but just kind of become way less motivated because I honestly don’t think anyone with this play style can be a top player nowadays (unless you outaim whitecat)
I've learnt TapZX for a while and I feel good about that I mean Tapping for jumps, ZX for bursts, streams, or slow jumps or whatever, and TapX when I fingerlock with ZX I'm good with that
when i started playing osu with tablet my hand natually tabbed with the pen but i turned mouse buttons off and alternated with both keys after a while a friend that also plays osu say i should try tab x because it would be easier for me because i already tabbed every note with the pen
I has been a tapx player since the start. because at that time my internet is really bad i has to learn everything by myself, so I thought this game can only play by tapping the pen. Later on i discovered about Emillia, been a tapx player 2 years now and I can flex on my XZ friends with high bpm jump map. But that's not gonna last long, I'm stuck in 6 - 7* map and rarely hit the long stream.
i first only used my pen because i hated streams and also new to the game so i didnt think id ever need a keyboard. i had gotten good with jumps, like too good. then my friend suggested that i actually play the game, the way it was meant to be played. i didnt want to learn how to play a different way than i already was playing so i just added in a keyboard and boom, im playing better. i pretty much just use the keyboard for streams and bursts, jumps are for my pen. its complicated but im playing 7* with this playstyle
4:14 those bruhmaster shots fired tho btw he made a new video talking about genetics again this time being more objective and correcting his old guesswork
I've played tapx since 2014 and I ez dt with it now but my god its tiring without a comfy setup with elbow support I was pretty fast in the beginning since I sat cross legged and rested my arm on my knee
hey doki, great video. just wondering if you have any experience with the gaomon s620 tablet.cause i play tap x and i struggle so much to jump the pen between cirlces at like 260 bpm i just cant bounce the pen it that fast i just end up dragging. are other tablets better or do i just need to imporve speed more?
This has more to do with speed instead of the tablet you're using, I suggest trying to figure out why you can't tap this fast, could be either stamina or speed related Also look into the way you grip your pen and see if it can be improved
note lock, probably easier to google yourself i dont understand it that well. basically hitting the circle at the correct time except the game doesnt register it as a hit
also writing important words on the screen makes it easier to understand like for example writing the players name who you're talking about. please make more videos though
Dunno if doki will see this but does genetics unironically give you speed. I've been stagnating around 230 bpm jumps for a while now and if i'm lucky i can go up to 270 if i can strain and aim consistently. Idk how you're able to make it look and feel effortless to tap x 260 jimps
From what i see all of the downsides that you mentioned are that its very hard to master. So if someone is willing to put in enough time do you think it would be more viable at a high level?
“Be sure to add “Osu” if you don’t want to see the ongoing opioid Crisis” *too late, already wasted 3 hours of my time researching on a topic I am not even interested in*
the only reason i clicked on this video is because there was an anime girl in the thumbnail (this appeals to me as an osu player)

ok when you mentioned small areas i was like "oh i wonder whats mine" and its 48x27mm maybe i am insane after all
And i thought

Wtf why Is mine even smaller

get on my level, i play with no tablet area at all
I've actually played tapx since i started playing osu, and I think that's pretty cool
i didn't even think such a playstyle was possible in osu, tapx is actually crazy wtf

Unrelated but I love me & you
wasn't expecting a doug demuro reference in an osu video lol
Never seen a thumbnail as good as this one

You shouldn't assume what viewers might know or might find obvious. There is still lots of people not familiar with any of these terms.
I remember reading your reddit post on tapx like a year ago when I started playing. Pretty cool that you made a video about it now
when i started playing osu with tablet my hand natually tabbed with the pen but i turned mouse buttons off and alternated with both keys after a while a friend that also plays osu say i should try tab x because it would be easier for me because i already tabbed every note with the pen
Nice video :D
Dope video doki
I hope you'll make more vids of this type
waiting for someone to invent xtap where u single tap with x and stream with your pen
r hand vibro... sounds doable ;)

I would love to try mastering tapx, for the coordination.
glad to be a part of the speed circlejerk

Yes., finally a video i"ve been waiting for
ive started playing tap x a few months ago when i was around 200k, now im 23k but im learning to switch off it and becoming a regular player
wtf i just realized this is not a 4 year old video
What tablet area do u use? Also what tablet?

note lock, probably easier to google yourself i dont understand it that well. basically hitting the circle at the correct time except the game doesnt register it as a hit
Lots of new stuff in this vid for an azuki/tapx player like me, really enjoyed it owo)b
thx for making this :)
Who is the player at 2:05 i cant find him anywhere (also couldn't understand his name)
i would recommend separating the text on screen and when youre talking, i personally just found it hard to keep up with
also writing important words on the screen makes it easier to understand like for example writing the players name who you're talking about.
please make more videos though
Did not know this playstyle even existed
you made this video literally only a few days after I decided I wanted to play tapX alt are you a mind reader
great vid btw very helpful

i know that its possible i mean the video does not give any tips lmao
The point about coordination still applies for clickx, in my opinion that’s the most important thing about m1/x in general
maybe this is why you should learn multiple playstyles? lul
this is a video
You are gonna get a seizure for streaming using tap x
