I installed a genuine provent 100 on my vw polo tdi. I also get some condensation also but I’m not concerned. I drained my reservoir/hose after the first 5300kms and got nearly 250mls of crusty oil out of it so yes they do work.
    Brilliant idea.

Perfect info. My ranger has only 20 thou on clock and it’s all condensation in my drain hose. No oil. Putting that back into sump would b a bad idea.

On a Isuzu truck diagram (can't remember if it was NPR or something else) the catch can drain goes directly to the sump. But that's a truck so dunno if it's different for bigger engines. Good info, I was gonna connect mine to the sump (4JX1 Trooper).

Yeah Factory installed. BUT as a Mechanic we dont want that crap (condensation/water) goign back into the sump hence an external drain hose!

Would it be ok to run your drain hose from your catch can into a small overflow can with a breather on it .

Yeah but hang on.. if you have no catchcan then where does that condensation go? Are you saying the engine creates more condensation if you have a catchcan? If it was to drain into the sump then the same amount of condensation would be created...

Hi mate. No need really. The old school Diesels dont really need them. Cheers
