I understand why they made version exclusives - but as someone with no friends, it has definitely been irksome over the years (Had to trade with myself between 2 DS all my life lol)
They can easily resolve this without removing version exclusives by just having an option that let’s you trade in game (make it difficult if you must but let us do so).
Mantine's version counterpart is actually Skarmory if you look at their stat spread. I think Delibird's gold counterpart is actually gligar. Finally, Sneasel isn't a version exclusive, you can find it in both gold and silver unless you count crystal where you find it in Ice Path.
True, I used to think gligar and sneasel were counterparts in gen 4 because they evolve with similiar items, one by day and the other by night, and they and their evos have the same base stat total. It's so weird, they could be perfect counterparts, but they've never been. Instead, they keep pairing gligar with random pokémon that have nothing in common like teddiursa in BDSP or aipom in SV
tbh, i don't think it matters much.. Counterparts are subject to change anyways. Heck, look at gen 1 and 2 for comparsion Oddish and Bellsprout are counterparts in gen 1, but lost that status when Bellossom became a thing and Bellsprout line didn't get anything Pinsir and Scyther counterparts in gen 1, both got different counterparts in gen 2 (Pinsir and Heracross both being a single stage and Scyther with Steelix, both evolve via trade while holding Metal Coat). Jynx lost counterpart status with Electabuzz and Magmar in gen 4, when they got turned into a 3 stage line, while Jynx remained 2 stage. Instead, Rhyperior replaced Jynx as the counterpart partner for Electivire and Magmortar. Jynx became counterpart to Mr. Mime in gen 4, with the addition of Mime. Jr, while Sudowoodo and Mantine became counerparts as well due to Bonsly and Mantyke. However, Jynx and Mr. Mime lost counterpart status due to Galarian Mr. Mime being a thing. The only consistent counterparts are the starters and box-art legendaries. Heck, i always personally considered the Kanto Trade Evo's of being counterparts to eachother as well, but obviously, that also changed, with Golem and Machamp being counterparts to eachother in gen 6, but losing the status with the other 2, who gained a Mega. Then Machamp and Golem lost counterpart status with eachother in gen 7, when Alolan Golem became a thing.
I feel like for Sun and Moon, Turtonator and Drampa should have at least gotten a mention. In Sun, Turtonator can be found about halfway through the game, but in Moon, Drampa isn't found until the literal final area of the game.
@@literallygrass1328 nah drampa is way better lmao. The only reason why Turtonator is better is because its find way earlier, if both can be found in the same relative amount of time, then Drampa would be WAY better
Basically, the only major thing Seviper has really going for is being the ace Pokémon and outfit inspiration for Frontier Brain Lucy, one of the best designed female trainers period.
Yeah, Seviper is bad, but it's still one of my favorite Pokémon, and ever since I managed to accidentally breed a shiny one in Gen 7, I've happily used it to this day.
For in-game, I would consider Lilligant to be vastly superior to Whimsicott. The fact that Whimsicott is a fast status user with middling attacking stats with the best status move it can learn via level being Stun Spore while being pure grass in Gen 5 hurts it. On the other hand, Lilligant is one of the few non-bug types that gets Quiver Dance naturally, and it can pair it up with Petal Dance for massive damage and Own Tempo to not get confused. While it may be a one trick pony, in a playthrough, that one trick can lead to Lilligant dominating.
Does it really matter though? In BW theres an in game trade for the other version exclusivem it might be in BW2 but i forget. Regardless, it doesnt really count if you can still get the other
Yeah i was about to mention that. Plus whim still didn’t have it’s fairy typing and most of it’s support moves like priority tailwind are more useful in doubles.
Mantine's counterpart is actually Skarmory. They very clearly have matching stat spreads just with one good physically and the other good specially. I always thought Delibird and Gligar were counterparts, and Sneasel I seriously can't remember its Silver equivalent
Sneasel isn't actually version exclusive in GSC. It's exclusive to the post-game in GS, but in Crystal you can encounter it in the ice path. It *is* version exclusive in FRLG, where its counterpart is Delibird.
Its a stretch but you can sort of pair the paradoxes thanks to the story like how penny runs into either iron bundle or scream tail depending on the game or how either a bunch of iron hands or a bunch of brute bonnets surround you after the giant door opens.
Also their dex order is the same iirc, you can pair them up with that: Scream Tail - Iron Bundle Brute Bonnet - Iron Hands Flutter Mane - Iron Jugulis Sandy Shocks - Iron Thorns
to make it even worse, it's basically one of the only times it's actually in the main dex as it's also pretty hard to get outside of Pearl so it's like they are ignoring it after it only being in Pearl
Glameow and Purugly made so little sense. Aside from the "haha fat cat fast" memes, why does it evolve so late, and why is it found so late? It should have an evolution level in the 20s and probably be found around Eterna.
I think you could have compared Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon as exclusives, because in the Pokédex they are listed separately from the other paradox Pokémon, and can be found in the same area of Area 0.
Not to mention the duos of Great Tusk and Iron Treads, as well as Slither Wing and Iron Moth which are paradox Pokémon based on (mostly) the same species
@@theknightwithabadpictotall7639 Plus their national dex order matches up with their roles in the story the first time in Area Zero. Tusk/Treads are 1st, and are the earth titan and both based on Donphan, Scream Tail and Iron Bundle are 2nd in order and the first paradox you all see in Area Zero, Brute Bonnet and Iron Hands are 3rd and several attack you at the Time Machine door, exactly one Flutter Mane and one Iron Jugulis attack you at the Time Machine door and are 4th, Slither Wing and Iron Moth are 5th and obviously both based on Volcarona, Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns are 6th and aren’t in the story besides being on the professor’s team, and Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant are separate from the other paradoxes, have a slightly higher BST than the rest, and are the professor’s aces.
Did you guys like. Watch the video? He literally did mention Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant, and Donphan and Volcarona's paradox forms. He just didn't compare them because there isn't a substantial imbalance. Sure, Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, and Iron Moth *are* better, but not to the degree of the video's whole point.
Cooper Manning is actually the eldest. He went to Ole Miss on a football scholarship as QB but found out he has spinal stenosis and was forced to quit or risk paralysis. Peyton used his number, 18, to honor him.
based on where they show up it's actually kinda easy to tell which paradox pokemon are counterparts. Besides the Volcarona and Donphan forms, Iron Valient and Roaring Moon are the most obvious. then Iron Thorns and Sandy Shocks. I'm fairly certain Iron Bundle and Scream Tail are counterparts. Same with Iron Jugulis and Flutter Mane. Which just leaves Iron Hands and Brute Bonnet.
I want Seviper to have an Evolution/regional form that is part Dragon for the simple reason it's in the Dragon egg group and it would be very funny if it ended up being legit Plus the boy deserves it, Zangoose has got it's stats well sorted out meanwhile Seviper just ..... no
Years ago, I designed a Mega-Zangoose with flaming claws and a flaming ring around its neck, kind of like a torc, because Zangoose is my favorite. I think there was plenty of extra fur, too, since that was a thing with megas.
Sableye may be bad but at least it gives you a free W at Dewford Gym, as it can be caught it that same town and it's invincible againts all of Brawly's Pokémon. While Mawile (at least in gen 3) is weak to them
Primeape's glow-up from Gens 1 to 9 is absolutely massive. Primeape went from being one of the worst in the game due to Gen 1's mechanics to getting one of the most badass evolutions of all time. -Can we get one for Ledian so they can stop excluding it from every game?-
Primeape was arguably the best fighting type in gen 1 because it is the fastest out of all gen 1 fighting types. Don't know why people think primeape was pointless, especially seeing how crits are based off speed gen 1
@@nickdog131 While Primeape was the fastest Fighting type in gen 1, it was not the best out of all gen 1 fighting types, cuz the only fighting type move it could learn in gen 1 (Red/Blue) was Seismic Toss and Submission (Being a TM move + damaged the user). The best fighting type in gen 1 was Hitmonlee, due to its acces to the most STAB moves (With six, 4 by level up and 2 by TM and i haven't counted counter). However, if we look at BST, Machamp is the best Fighting type in Kanto. Not only does it have a higher BST than the other fighting types (Only edging out Poliwrath with 5, but having around 50 BST more than the other 3), but it is also tied for the bulkiest Fighting type (Again, alongside Poliwrath). So in terms of best fighting type in Kanto, its either Hitmonlee (Moveset) or Machamp (BST). Moveset Hitmonlee Hitmonchan Machamp Poliwrath Primeape Poliwrath edges out Primeape cuz it has more usage, being part Water. BST Machamp (505) Poliwrath (500) Hitmonlee (455) Hitmonchan (455) Primeape (455) However, despite all three having the same BST, both Hitmons still outclass Primeape due to their movesets.
Since when is sneasel a Silver exclusive? Either Bulbapedia needs updating, or it can be caught in Gold in the same places. It was skarmory that was gligar's counterpart in gen 2, it wasn't until gen 3 that sneasel replaced it as gligar's counterpart in the Kanto remakes. (Edit: I just noticed it was pointed out that while it lives in the same route as gligar, skarmory has an identical stat total to mantine, making it more likely to be mantine's counterpart, with delibird being gligar's counterpart. Either way, sneasel appears in both gen 2 versions, so it's not version exclusive) You're right about seviper though. I remember Emperor Cubone saying something about how it and zangoose make a great counterpart pair which are on equal footing, and I was like, 'on what planet?'
I like how he just ignored that Dragalge is part poison which was one of the best typings a dragon could ask for in generation 6 after fairy types. I agree Clawitzer is better but I feel the blatant disregard for that fact should be mentioned.
Not only that, gen 6 gave us Slurpuff and Aromatisse, who are arguably the worse Fairy types in gen 6 and are version exclusives as well and far inferior to the other version exclusives.
I’m super late but Dragalge has several useful traits over clawitzer, and considering almost everyone picked froakie, clawitzer has lots of stiff competition. I love Dragalge and imo it’s the better version exclusive. But different opinions!
Seviper may be absolute trash, but the silly snake will forever be my third favorite Pokémon of all time 😭🙏 So much fun to use in Emerald, and in Scarlet/Violet as well! And, at the very least, it can stand firmly with Zangoose in terms of having an absolutely incredible shiny!!
I can confirm the Kraft’s Mac & Cheese story. My house almost burned down but thankfully Orbeetle, the superior ladybug Pokémon, was there to save me and my house 🙏 (Ledian did not survive the fire)
12:11 Not quite true - Scream Tail and Iron Bundle are counterparts: both are Paradoxes of cute, weak Pokemon, both are common encounters in Area Zero in the same locations, both are the first manditory fight of Area Zero, both Paradoxes you can catch before the AI fight. - Brute Bonnet and Iron Hands are counterparts: both are the brutish strongmen of their respective groups, both are common counters in Area Zero, both are manditory Area Zero fights in the same location. - Flutter Mane and Iron Jugulis are counterparts: both Paradoxes are more reserved-natured special attackers, both can be found only in caves, both Paradoxes you can catch before the AI fight. - Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns are counterparts: both Paradoxes are Electric-types associated with dirt and stuff, both can only be found by those rocky cliffsides, both Paradoxes you can't have seen before the AI fight without prior knowledge. - Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant are counterparts: both Paradoxes are based on Mega Evolutions, both Paradoxes have a 590 BST as opposed to the standard 570 of most other Paradoxes, both Paradoxes serve as aces for the AI, complete with each holding a Booster Energy, both can only be found in an out-of-the-way cave, both Paradoxes you can't have seen before the AI fight without prior knowledge. Also when you check the team orders of each AI, all the counterparts are in the same spots in both team orders Also-also the difference between Wake and Leaves isn't nearly as big as implied in this video. Iron Leaves is currently banned from RU, while still being a decent enough Pokemon in UU. It's basically got nice stats, including some Garchomp-level bulk. It can hit quite hard after setting up a Swords Dance, it can boost its Speed with STAB Trailblaze.
Gligar's version exclusive pairing is actually Delibird, not Sneasel, with Skarmory and Mantine being the version exclusive pairing. This can be determined through their base stat spreads having the same values, but just in different areas.
I don't really get why competitive comes up so much in this video. I thought it was about comparing Pokémon for the main campaign. That's the only context where their vension-exclusiveness is relevant. *Lilligant - Whimsicott :* I mean, Prankster status moves might be good in competitive, but in the main game, that's far less relevant. Lilligant might just have Quiver Dance over Whimsicott, but that's just what it needs (for the main game). Sure, its lack of coverage is unfortunate, but it's less of a problem in the main game, when you often know what you're gonna fight. *Clawitzer - Dragalge :* Aside from that weird evolution level thing, Dragalge has at least a pretty unique typing, when Clawitzer has hundreds of Water types to compete with.
skrelp evolving late actually makes it so it doesn't get the dragon type until after you fight the fairy gym (assuming you're not ridiculously over leveled) since her ace is level 42. of course skrelp can't solo the gym because of her other two pokemon can destroy skrelp, but I think the idea for skrelps evo level is so that it can keep it's fairy resistance until you no longer need it. It was poorly executed but so was most of x an y.
It's ironic that Seviper isn't as good compared to Zangoose, since mongooses are skilled fighters against cobras due to the latter's very predictable movements. The habu, or black viper, is usually pitted against mongooses in underground fights due to being a much more dangerous foe. Seviper's based on the habu, so it should do better... theoretically.
They're both early game bugs that we as players have been actively conditioned to ignore and/or replace, but I disagree on Ariados vs Ledian. Ledian evolves four levels sooner, learns Supersonic instead of Scary Face, gets the screens by levelup (which is especially notable in Gen II, since the moves haven't yet become TMs whose availability is given out like candy), and has a much better stat spread for its point in the game. Ariados is a slow physical attacker... whose best physical attack by levelup is Fury Swipes at level 34. Meanwhile, Ledian has decent speed and a surprisingly high SpDef, letting it tank a few hits while you heal your main attackers. The best thing that can be said for Ariados is that it can learn Poison Sting, which might not be enough of a saving grace prior to the first badge, given that there's an entire location named after and populated by an unpoisonable Grass/Poison.
The professor’s battle team orders line up perfectly in existing counterparts between the paradox Pokemon so you can just infer that the other Pokémon on their battle teams which line up in Pokémon order are counterparts which means these Pokémon are counterparts: Iron Bundle = Scream Tail Iron Moth = Slither Wing Iron Treads = Great Tusk Iron Hands = Brute Bonnet Iron Jugulis = Flutter Mane Iron Thorns = Sandy Shocks Iron Valiant = Roaring Moon Miraidon = Koraidon
I remember being so disappointed after catching Zamazenta. Led with it into the following rival battle with Hop, only for it to be outsped and one-shot by Zacian on the first turn.
I'm not sure why you were excited. They're both disappointing. They're the worst designed Legendaries in the series. It's literally "Dog Holding Sword" and "Dog Wearing Shield".
Honestly for unova it’s black kyurem. For the longest time did not have a physical ice type move other than freeze shock, which is terrible because it’s a 2 turn move that can miss. (Freeze burn is also terrible but at least white kyurem has ice beam and blizzard for its higher special attack stat) finally in gen 8 it got icicle spear also dragon dance so now it was really good. Good enough to get banned from OU
Mega sableye isn’t bad in terms of competitive battles because of its ability, defense, utility moves, and typing. in fact it did get banned from OU in gen 6. however it pails in comparison to mawile. first it has intimidate before mega evolving, next it got a buff that gen with gaining the fairy type and now has one of the best typings in the series. and then it mega evolves into a beast. With 105 base attack AND gets huge power, it now hits like a truck. Its defenses aren’t bad either being 125 and 95.
I say Sandslash gets a new evolution akin to Annihilape. Make its evo a Ground/Fairy type, give it a signature fairy type move, and increase its bst to 530, the same as Annihilape
I think Alolan Sandslash gets a bit too much hate, it's not too bad, it's just that Alolan Ninetales is stupidly good, the two funnily pair together pretty well thanks to Slush Rush. That a new evo would help it a lot
Zangoose is one of the best Gen 3 Pokémon for playthroughs. Seviper is a contender for the worst that isn't a gimmick, only rivalled by- *vomits* Illumise
I somehow beat Colosseum (one of, if not the hardest main quests in the series) with a Sneasel on my team. I have no idea how I managed that but he wasn't complete dead weight. I think it was some combination of high speed and Icy Wind's speed drop hitting both in Doubles. Or he really was absolutely useless, it was so long ago
No Pokemon has had to hold a bigger L than Zamazenta for NOT being able to learn Body Press in the game it, and the move, were introduced. That's sibling-the-parents-forgot-the-birthday-of levels of neglect
I kinda enjoy it in gen 4, reflect/light screen and u-turn tf out to let the adults fight. It's worse than Meganium for this role, but you don't have to pick it over others lol
I'd argue Sableye, at least in gen 3, is way better than mawile for what is. It can totally cheese brawly and a ghost tupe early on is quite clutch for some other fights. Meanwhile Mawile is a straight up hinderance, with no stab steel moves, learns mostly special attacks while being a physical attacker, and being week to two of the three following gyms. With sp.def that low it's basically weak to wattson too. It's a shame even since it's desing is so cool.
I'm surprised you didn't mention aromatisse and slurpuff. Slurpff can sweep entire teams with unburden sitrus berry belly drum if they're not careful whereas aromatisse literally has nothing going for it
Red exclusives always get on my nerves because people genuinely pick to play (fire) red over blue and leaf green all the time and all they have is Growlithe (in fire red, since Vulpix is better in gen 1). Why would they even do that??
I'm almost certain Sneasel isn't a version exclusive. I would go with Delibird for GS. Sapphire actually has the better version exclusives over Ruby, except maybe Latias. I prefer the best poison type introduced in that generation to just another normal type. Kyogre is better than Groudon. Sableye is better than Mawile because it has a unique dual type and has no weaknesses. But the worst version exclusive of RS is Shiftry. Ludicolo has an excellent and unique Water/Grass typing, while Shiftry is just another bad Grass/Dark-type along with Cacturne.
The saving grace about Shiftry in Gen III is it has the excellent Signature Move Extrasensory which has triple Psychic's PP in exchange for only 10 lower base power. Now, you have to raise a Nuzleaf until level 49 but I did that once in Emerald and it wad still surprisngly usable. Grass STAB in Hoenn's waterworld doesn't hurt it either I suppose.
Also, Mawile and Sableye are both pretty weak, Sableye's zero weakness is about equal to Mawile's whopping 12 resistances. Also Intimidate pushes it over the edge IMO. I think they were meant to be used for the early game where you can get something with really cool typing (Steel, Dark, and Ghost were really rare in Johto). Funnily, Mawile is the absolute best at one very specific thing: Tough Pokemon Contests. Catch one in Sky Pillar and it has all the moves needed ro easily sweep the whole thing
I think for the paradox pokemon counterparts there is Iron bundle vs scream tail Iron hands vs brute bonnet Iron thorns vs sandy cheecks Iron junglulus vs flutter mane For anyone who wants to know
Roaring moon and iron valiant are counter parts cause it's the professor's ace and have 40 pt higher than the rest of the paradox mons Iron junglulus and flutter main are found in the beginning and depths of the Area zero cave
I always thought Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon were cointerparts because Valiant is based of both Mega Gardevoir and Gallade while Roaring Moon is based on Mega Salamence, at least conceptually
I've been toying with the idea of completing a National Dex for a bit now. Pearl and Sapphire's single Pokémon in Glameow and Lunatone makes me not want to do it, though. Hunting down two entirely new games just to get 1 Mon? No thank you.
Silver takes all the Ls with exclusives bexcept for Skarmory. We go crapped on nonstop only to get one of the best birds all the way up to current day.
@@miikaroos3809 I forgot about Ursaring entirely, I thought Donphan was the cunterpart to Skarmory. But tight, Ursaring and Donphan, while Gligar was Skarm's inferior counterpart, even after it evolved.
A couple of years ago in middle school, a kid put Mac and cheese in the microwave and forgot to put water in it, and it actually caught on fire. And we had to all evacuate the cafeteria...
I always prefered lilligant to whimscott personally. Sleep powder and quiverdance makes it easy to set up and use petal dance with own tempo negating the confusion
There is actually is a way to pair up every paradox pokemon: (Not covering the obvious ones) Screaming Tail and Iron Bundle-The ones that you and Penny in the outdoors section of Area Zero and are on the same spots on Sada and Turo's respective teams. Brute Bonnet and Iron Hands- The ones you encounter multiple of (besides the donphans) before entering the Zero gate and are on the same spots on Sada and Turo's respective teams. Flutter Mane and Iron Jugilus- Are on the same spots on Sada and Turo's respective teams. And Sandy Shocks and Iron thorns- Are on the same spots on Sada and Turo's respective teams and are both Electric types.
I am glad now we are able to look up which Pokémon are exclusive to a particular game. There is always a chance your favorite Pokémon is exclusive to a particular version.
Do want to point out that Psyblade for Iron Leaves does get a 50% boost, but only in Electric Terrain. Really got the short end compared to Walking Wake.
Isn’t skrelps location and access to the rod for fishing offered fairly late mid game in Pokémon x? So it evolves kinda when you’d be around that level anyways if you train it up to match the rest of your team.
awful research half of these are paired incorrectly, the other half you actually pair correctly you revisit history to the point where you swing and miss on the 50/50.
I don't understand your criteria for this honestly because you use all types of reasons for one but don't apply those same reason for another Pokemon. Like you basically say Cranidos>Bastiodon because Bastiodon is defensive and defensive Pokemon are useless in Story runs but then go on to say Braviary and Mandibuzz are similar levels for story runs even though Mandibuzz has AWFUL offensive stats and is a pure defensive Pokemon. Also Seviper is absolutely not useless. 100 in both offensive stat makes it a very good usable ingame Pokemon since it learns decent physical and special attacks. Even in RS, Mawile is the worst exclusive because it literally learns no good move that makes use of its STAB. Also while yes Iron Leaves v Walking Wake is a no brainer. The worst version exclusive is certainly all paradox in Violet (sans Iron Bundle) compared to Scarlet's Flutter Mane. It's irrelevant what it is counterpart to, but Flutter Mane (and even Roaring Moon) in Scarlet are significantly superior to every single Violet paradox Pokemon (outside of Iron Bundle).
I'd argue Sableye is a decent Pokemon early game in Gen 3, since, despite it's stats being lower than most other Pokemon, it's typing gives it zero weaknesses, meaning you have a safer switch out against Brawly, (which Sableye can beat by itself in Emerald) Wattson and Norman. Can use Fake Out and Nightshade for flinching and inflicting damage equil to you level at the time, which can help you catch other Pokemon.
Love the thumbnail reference to Naruto. For some reason, that moment in the anime always stuck with me. Also, finding out about Itachi actually being the most wholesome and peace-loving guy forced to do all these horrendous things is always a bit saddening for me.
Glameow is even worse in Gen 4 because much like Gen 2 Sneasel, there is no reason for it to be found as late as it is, and the context makes it even worse. Stunky can be found under the Cycling Road in Diamond, and I THINK you can access that route’s grass before beating Gardenia, so you can have a Poison-Type for her if you didn’t pick Chimchar. Glameow on the other hand is found right outside Canalave, you can’t even find it until you’re able to surf (halfway through the game), but the gym you’re about to go up against is a steel gym, meaning Purugly is almost completely useless, and you likely have a counter to Steel by then anyway.
I always thought mantine and skarmory were supposed to be opposite version exclusives. They literally have the opposite stats. Sneasle isn't a version exclusive at all either. it's just because gligar has a similarly named evolution item and both evolve by time of day as well.
Personally I feel like the Sun and Moon section should have mentioned the exclusive Lycanrocs. Being the only games where each evolution is locked behind what version you're playing, it's a big factor for anyone looking to use Lycanroc on their team. And Sun didn't just get the long end of the stick, it ripped the whole stick out of Moon's hands and started smacking them with it. Midday Lycanroc is a huge rarity- a fast sweeper Rock type. That alone gives it a value niche to fill, but it also got Accelerock, a decently strong priority move, as a signature. What did Midnight form get, in contrast? Compared to Midday it has a whopping _30_ less speed, which all gets evenly distributed into HP, Defense, and Special Defense. At 10 points each. It's such a massive loss of precious speed, all for what cannot in good faith be called a meaningful improvement in bulk. And instead of a cool signature move, Midnight Lycanroc gets Counter, a mediocre retaliatory move that it most likely won't get any use out of because it's still really frail. I'm sure I'm not the only person who was originally going to get Moon when the gen 7 games were released, only to see the huge discrepancy between the two Lycanrocs and immediately jump ship. It's outright unfair what they did to Moon.
Actually ekans is completely broken in gen 1 because it has wrap, while sandshrew is worse than diglett in every way. And the narrative of psychic being broken needs to die. There is one psychic gym you barely have to deal with the type
The other paradox counterparts are these (it's pretty obvious if you play both games): Scream Tail / Iron Bundle Brute Bonnet / Iron Hands Flutter Mane / Iron Jugulis Sandy Shocks / Iron Thorns

Basically, the only major thing Seviper has really going for is being the ace Pokémon and outfit inspiration for Frontier Brain Lucy, one of the best designed female trainers period.
Plus, it got a lot of screen time in the anime.
It is also 1 of 3 poison type options alongside Swalot and Roselia new to Gen 3, but even then poison typing isn't great in those games.
Yeah, Seviper is bad, but it's still one of my favorite Pokémon, and ever since I managed to accidentally breed a shiny one in Gen 7, I've happily used it to this day.
@@nicholasfarrell5981 Thanks to our favourite long-haired antagonist Jessie of Team Rocket who also owned another Gen-I worst exclusive: Arbok.
@@misguidedkpopper8674 I like that it has benzene rings on its forehead and back.
Regardless, it doesnt really count if you can still get the other
@@literallygrass1328 He mentioned that whimsicott was better in the video
I do very much agree with this.
Priority Nature Power is funny in a playthrough though.
Yeah, Delibird and Gligar are the only ones who don't have a clear counterpart, so I guess that makes them counterparts of eachother.
Sneasel desn't have one because I'm pretty sure sneasel isn't a version exclusive in Gen 2
Also their dex order is the same iirc, you can pair them up with that:
Scream Tail - Iron Bundle
Brute Bonnet - Iron Hands
Flutter Mane - Iron Jugulis
Sandy Shocks - Iron Thorns
@@bluekirby_64glad I’m not the only one who noticed this
Sneasel isn't exclusive to Silver, you're thinking of Skarmory.
So that would make it delibird now
To to make it worse for Glameow, it is found after the 5th Gym while Stunky is found on the bike path before the 3rd Gym
I thought it was after the 7th gym.
@@ShirtFan You can find Glameow in the route that's west of Jubilife City that goes to Canalave City.
to make it even worse, it's basically one of the only times it's actually in the main dex as it's also pretty hard to get outside of Pearl so it's like they are ignoring it after it only being in Pearl
@@theknightwithabadpictotall7639
Plus their national dex order matches up with their roles in the story the first time in Area Zero.
They are version counterparts. Like look at their stats. They're the only Paradoxes with 590 base stats.
Gamefreak: we want players to look at a Pokémon and get a good idea of what it can do.
Also Gamefreak, faced with Purugly: give it s p e e d

Even if you take into account how cats have good reaction speed, you'd still think Purugly would be tankier.
@@robertlupa8273 Yeah look at it's appearance and it looks like it should have bulk
Seriously how haven't Zangoose and Seviper been given anything new? No evolutions or variants.
I want Seviper to have an Evolution/regional form that is part Dragon for the simple reason it's in the Dragon egg group and it would be very funny if it ended up being legit
Plus the boy deserves it, Zangoose has got it's stats well sorted out meanwhile Seviper just ..... no
Years ago, I designed a Mega-Zangoose with flaming claws and a flaming ring around its neck, kind of like a torc, because Zangoose is my favorite. I think there was plenty of extra fur, too, since that was a thing with megas.

Sableye may be bad but at least it gives you a free W at Dewford Gym, as it can be caught it that same town and it's invincible againts all of Brawly's Pokémon. While Mawile (at least in gen 3) is weak to them
I can’t believe JPR burned his house down because he forgot to water his pasta
Moveset
Hitmonlee
Hitmonchan
Machamp
Poliwrath
Primeape
Poliwrath edges out Primeape cuz it has more usage, being part Water.
BST
Machamp (505)
Poliwrath (500)
Hitmonlee (455)
Hitmonchan (455)
Primeape (455)
However, despite all three having the same BST, both Hitmons still outclass Primeape due to their movesets.
Either way, sneasel appears in both gen 2 versions, so it's not version exclusive)
You're right about seviper though.
Ngl, Ceruledge and ride Miraidon were the whole reason I bought Violet over Scarlet, despite me liking Apex Koraidon and past paradox mons more.
I agree.
If Glameow was available earlier, it might have been usable, but the problem is that you need 5 badges to access it, as opposed to Stunky with two
12:11 Not quite true
- Scream Tail and Iron Bundle are counterparts: both are Paradoxes of cute, weak Pokemon, both are common encounters in Area Zero in the same locations, both are the first manditory fight of Area Zero, both Paradoxes you can catch before the AI fight.
Also when you check the team orders of each AI, all the counterparts are in the same spots in both team orders
Also-also the difference between Wake and Leaves isn't nearly as big as implied in this video. Iron Leaves is currently banned from RU, while still being a decent enough Pokemon in UU. It's basically got nice stats, including some Garchomp-level bulk. It can hit quite hard after setting up a Swords Dance, it can boost its Speed with STAB Trailblaze.
9:38)
You fool.
Dragalgae is _also_ a Poison Type
Gligar's version exclusive pairing is actually Delibird, not Sneasel, with Skarmory and Mantine being the version exclusive pairing. This can be determined through their base stat spreads having the same values, but just in different areas.
Gligar also shares no types with Sneasel. They only thing they share is getting a gen 4 evo that evolves through holding a razor item
_"[Ledian] has a much better stat spread for its point in the game"_ is not something I ever expected to hear.
The professor’s battle team orders line up perfectly in existing counterparts between the paradox Pokemon so you can just infer that the other Pokémon on their battle teams which line up in Pokémon order are counterparts which means these Pokémon are counterparts:
Iron Bundle = Scream Tail
Iron Moth = Slither Wing
Iron Treads = Great Tusk
Iron Hands = Brute Bonnet
Iron Jugulis = Flutter Mane
Iron Thorns = Sandy Shocks
Iron Valiant = Roaring Moon
Miraidon = Koraidon
@@TheFirstCurse1 You do know you can make anything sound bad with oversimplified descriptions like that right?

YES PLEASE!
I'm down for that! 🔥
I think Alolan Sandslash gets a bit too much hate, it's not too bad, it's just that Alolan Ninetales is stupidly good, the two funnily pair together pretty well thanks to Slush Rush. That a new evo would help it a lot
I'm picturing it as resembling a pink fairy armadillo, sounds pretty neat!

Seviper always got the short end of the stick. Its my favorite mon. Dude needs a buff!
There’s somewhat of a way to compare the paradox pokemon by how they get sent out by the AI professors

Slurpff can sweep entire teams with unburden sitrus berry belly drum if they're not careful whereas aromatisse literally has nothing going for it
Unburden Swirlix is only available in Friend Safari though
@@RyouShi98 Another W for contests.
I watched so much unmodded twitter, I really thought that thumbnail was something else and didnt think anything of it
What did you think it was? 😨
I think for the paradox pokemon counterparts there is
Iron bundle vs scream tail
Iron hands vs brute bonnet
Iron thorns vs sandy cheecks
Iron junglulus vs flutter mane
For anyone who wants to know
Wouldn't Iron Jugulus be paired with roaring Moon(both dragon types) and Flutter Mane with iron Valient(Ghost vs Psychic)
Roaring moon and iron valiant are counter parts cause it's the professor's ace and have 40 pt higher than the rest of the paradox mons
Iron junglulus and flutter main are found in the beginning and depths of the Area zero cave
Mantine is actually the counterpart to Skarmory, not Delibird. You can tell by looking at its stat distributions.
Man that thumbnail is brilliant!

There is actually is a way to pair up every paradox pokemon:
(Not covering the obvious ones)
Screaming Tail and Iron Bundle-The ones that you and Penny in the outdoors section of Area Zero and are on the same spots on Sada and Turo's respective teams.
That zangtachi meme had me dying 😂😂
Do want to point out that Psyblade for Iron Leaves does get a 50% boost, but only in Electric Terrain. Really got the short end compared to Walking Wake.
Isn’t skrelps location and access to the rod for fishing offered fairly late mid game in Pokémon x? So it evolves kinda when you’d be around that level anyways if you train it up to match the rest of your team.
awful research half of these are paired incorrectly, the other half you actually pair correctly you revisit history to the point where you swing and miss on the 50/50.
11:21
"...but I'm also not a sports guy..."
I thought he loved car racing?
Two versions and version exclusives are outdated and still suck
0:48 The Smash Bros. death effect will never stop being funny (at least the first time you watch the video, which is still good IMO).
Sneasel isn't version exclusive. Gligar's counterpart is skarmory.
But Allister is just the way better gym leader.

Wasn’t mega sableye banned to Ubers?
Could've sworn Mantine's counterpart in Gen 2 was Skarmory, not Delibird.
I always thought mantine and skarmory were supposed to be opposite version exclusives. They literally have the opposite stats. Sneasle isn't a version exclusive at all either. it's just because gligar has a similarly named evolution item and both evolve by time of day as well.
Pretty sure you can get sneasel in Gold. Also Skarmory is Mantine's counterpart
The wack part about Gen 2-3 Sneasel is all they had to do is to swap it's special stats and give it Crunch to make it salvageable.
Actually ekans is completely broken in gen 1 because it has wrap, while sandshrew is worse than diglett in every way. And the narrative of psychic being broken needs to die. There is one psychic gym you barely have to deal with the type
Competitively, Psychic-type was broken
