10 years sounds INSANE!!!!!!! But... Scholar is my main, and I love it to this day! (Sorry about late upload, I forgot to hit the button earlier cause of work!)
Sch is just more fun than the other three for me with more versatility, options, and how you can create your own play style. One problem I have with healers in general is that the game is also designed to be able to play solo with any job, that means healers too are required to do damage and keeping uptime. I wish we had a button that swaps healer into pure support in party scenarios, like having Sch focus on DoTs and Ast on buffs instead and balance their overall dps around those.
I've tried every healer at 90 and i don't think anything will beat scholar for me it's such a fun class I love being able to turn my brain off in lv90 dungeons and expedience is such a fun button to press between pulls and boss mechanics
I like scholar but my main healer will always be White Mage :3 and thanks for sharing your views :) i agree with them… still think White mage is still a good healer and love its tools and the damage :3
Different, but complementary roles! I love WHM because no matter how much damage gets through, I can erase it. I love SCH because I can decide which mechanic we get to ignore. AST I enjoy throwing out all the buffs. If it wasn’t for the flashy graphics, I would never play SGE. To boring and bland for me.
I'm the same way as you. I always had to heal and kinda was stuck with it. Now experiencing and leveling other classes I always still go back to Scholar. Just summoning fairies and providing heals for people just seems fun and rewarding for me.
I'm a straight man(not that that matters) and I thought the faerie was great when I first started! Because it did a lot of the healing in low level dungeons. LOL

I come during Shadowbringers and yeah SCH is insane, however I never vibe with barrier healer given how unresponsive pet AI was during that era and WHM and AST feel more snappy among 3 healers. If I played during ARR or HW I would be SCH main and avoid AST but since Shadowbringer AST gameplay was engaging I main AST until now. I can't wait for AST rework, hopefully the job will get the same love as SCH now. Finger cross that they don't gutter the card system into other stuff, I just wish that card system gives dps boost to all melee or all range, make it less busy (macro and decision) and more fun. I hope that they bring back sleeve draw and infinite redraw, it feel snappy that you can influence the cards for extra self buff healing, damage and speed boost.
You say it sounds stupid, but I remember once telling someone "I know this sounds kinda sad...but I like SCH and SMN because, no matter what I'm doing, I feel like I have a friend with me...", especially since a lot of time I've played FFXIV I've played alone/not had friends that played, and part of that time I was in the military and feeling kind of alone personally. So it may sound silly/sad...but it doesn't at all. I understand completely.
I just recently started and play Paladin and so far I feel like I will be a main tank for the whole time I play FFXIV. One day many years down the road maybe I can say I have played through the good the bad the ugly of my class. ( I did it on world of warcraft as a Priest for 12 years)
I still think we should get a mini Chain Stratagem that boosts Direct Hit damage for a very short time (like 5 sec), but is on a short cooldown (like 25-30 sec). If AST is one of the most engaging healers because of a 30 sec buff, 30 sec DoT and 4x 1 min - then I think adding a 25 sec debuff on top of the SCH’s 30 sec DoT and 1min “burst” will boost engagement. Edit: But honestly, I just want more “Scan” type magic. Let me the quintessential traditional Scholars of FF old!!!
I want a dps Fairy/Carbuncle that increases your dps when your with it and changing the skills to dps versions, then when you change back to healer one its the same as now. Dissipation should also make you levitate and transform fairy like and name changed. Would be cool to like merge with the fairy for the extra potency instead of slapping her with a book blasting her away like Team Rocket.
I found Scholar the least stressful healer, being able to prepare for damage before getting hit is so much easier than reactively heal damage after they get hit.
I have all 90 and its fact i always liked more this sch than other healer . In hight content it is lot fun it dont waste any mp and its fast gameplay , i find me more bored playing other healer .
I've been a Scholar main basically the entire time I've played XIV since 2.0. But my main gripe is how it works in FFXIV. Do I like FFXIV's Scholar? Yes. Do I like FFXIV's /interpretation/ of the job? Absolutely fucking not. :C
I used to main SCH. then feel bad that I the healer died often (all on my first msq, playing blind don't know what coming next). Then I play dps. But the healer still somehow died too, one I remember the most was an "Ultimate Legend" healer died in all 3 bosses in tower of Babil. Since then I switched to RDM. I think what I like from sch is mobility. have attack one with cast time but higher potency, another is lower potency but instant cast. Barrier. wasn't there ogcd healing with aetheric flow or something too. and can save up to 6 charges. been a while, kind of forgot.
The only time I've ever seen a recitation excog work the way it's supposed to, is on a gnb War, timer runs out, pali, timer runs out, dark, timer runs out, gnb SUPER oh shit I have health, I've essentially stopped using recitacogition whenever I get a tank that's not a gnb
I enjoy all 4 healers in extremes and up, it's more for casual content like roulettes that I really want my "plague doctor" Scholar back. I've always been on board with SE on making healers focus on healing instead of damage, but then you look at Endwalker and in chill content a Red Mage would usually be more desirable than an actual healer, and Warrior is a limited job. I WANT to focus on healing but nothing needs intensive healing anymore. Their design philosophy with healers goes counter with their general direction for the game, and it makes casual content feel like a chore to me.
What?! Did they remove the DOTs playstyle of scholar now?! that was what i loved about the scholar when i played FFXIV... I thought about coming back to play today and thats why i went to watch your video. But after hearing that scholar is no longer affliction warlock damage playstyle, im not even going to bother coming back xD well RIP scholar and RIP FFXIV for me
WHM healer main but SCH is so much fun, has loads of options to heal its insane how versatile it is. The aoe sprint was mocked in EW job skill trailer but got later nerfed cuz was *too* good haha. I do miss when Selena had her own skills, she gave aoe haste & silence, good times. Now she's just a glamour from Eos 😔
Ya, the two things I love they did in EW: The utility of a party sprint. And buffing the Critlo-Spread combo. It’s also made me realize to ignore a lot of guides, forums, and subreddits and instead find out the real effectiveness is just being a good, attentive, and flexible healer.

WHM is amazing! It's not my main but it's defo one of my go-tos :D let no one tell you WHM isn't good, it's awesome!

I think this scholar right now in 6.5 is the best version of scholar we've had. The only thing I'd like is 2 stacks of recitation in 7.0.

Good point, especially since it synergizes with their own kit.
Sch was my main healer but now that sage exists it feels unplayable with how gross aetherflow feels in comparison
