I want to go on the queen Mary 2 so bad she’s so beautiful 🤩 the last grate ocean liner.
As a long time lover of the original 1936 version, it's so great to hear a modern rendition!
Absolutely FANTASTIC! A perfect way to commemorate the cruise on the Queen Mary 2!
Excellent.(From a time when the word 'gay' had an entirely different meaning, and no-one was ashamed to say that the crew was all-British.)
So pleased that this has been redone by Alex! A brilliant 1936 classic!
The original Queen Mary's signature tune was 'Somewhere ar sea'. It would be nice to hear that played on the Mary 2.
I last heard that played at the Ocean Liner exhibition at the V&A!
Brilliant! Wish I was making the crossing with you.
What a snazzy little tune! And the orchestra is tight as a drum!
So happy this song has been re-recorded! Hope it is included in one of the Orchestra's future albums.
You should buy the single before it runs out of stock! It's on the alex mendham shop.
but it’s only available as a 78rpm and you can’t play it on an old wind-up - ridiculous! 😢
Still waiting to hear the album from this cruise including this tune - come on Alex!
Wonderful!
It is an absolutely lovely art work, both the record's cover and the record itself. Reminds me of those old seavoyage advertising posters. Well done!
Beautiful picture disk
Great melody!
Lovely song!
Wonderful
Hip hip Hooray for -> "...The ship is all BRITISH and It is wonderful too; The Ship is manned by a BRITISH crew... "
Isn’t it just such a catchy phrase!!
I’m going to make this song famous
The QM had a song and the NORMANDIE had a song. I think they are the only two ocean liners that had songs written about them. Were there any others?
Yes, there is (or was) someone that had songs going back to the early 1900s for particular ships. I'll try to find it.
The SS United States had a song too.
what was the normandie's song?
What us Normandie's song called?
I believe the SS United States has a song titled 'First Lady of the Sea"!
Scottish build Scottish by heart
is this on spotify?
Which year was this song composed?
Why has this been taken off UA-cam? 😢
Who is the composer?
I believe it was written by Horatio Nicholls and this version is based on the one by Bram Martin and his orchestra.
