    I've definitely heard this sung in Newfoundland before, the tune is very familiar

      It’s nearly the same as “Admiral Benbow”, and I’m convinced that the tune was taken directly from “Capatain Kidd”.

      @@balladsofhistory I can also hear "Ye Jacobites by Name", especially in the chorus, I'm extremely bad at explaining anything to do with music theory because I play by ear but some notes that would be major notes in this would be minor notes in "Ye Jacobites by name" (Again apologies, I don't know a lick of music theory)

      I can hear it too, albeit it’s an upbeat iteration of “Ye Jacobites/Diggers”. That’s the mystery behind this song, the original melody it was sung to.

      I'm from Ontario, but this song I have absolutly heard while visiting my uncle in New Brunswick.
