Cristal, here is another good tip. When you pull the laundry detergent tray out, look at the inside with a flash light. At the ceiling of the tray slot and you will find tons of mold and mildew in there. Took me about 2 hours to clean it when I first discovered it. Nobody ever bothers to look at the ceiling, they normally just look down the detergent reservoir well.

Oh yea i bought one from someone else and it was really dirty, I cleaned everything, every corner even the bottom of the tray was disgusting, it’s from all the detergent and softener, within time that gets really thick and can clog your pipes or stay there and get ugly 🤮

I actually put a service call in to have the bellow replaced because of the black mold on it that refuses to come off. That cost is $350.00. I've had the Maytag front loader for 10 years now. I tired what you did here and soaked some rags in bleach and let it sit for about 45 minutes and I was pretty shocked by what came off. There was black on the front bottom of the seal that has refused to come off for years. It actually came off. I did some scrubbing and now the washing machine is doing a normal cycle on hot with the rags and some bleach thrown in. I will be canceling the service call and saving $350.00. Even if there's a little bit of black left it looks way better than it has in years. Thanks Cristal.

We were so confused because we tried to clean the mold off with all these detergents but now of them worked. Bleach is the best, most effective thing to kill mold!! 👏👏👏♥️ I use it with a baby bottle brush to scrub that rubber gasket AND fits right up under that lip of the rubber gasket to scrub under there too! Works really great!!!

If you want to prevent mold on the door seal run the drum clean cycle once a month and use backing soda and after each cycle leave the door and drawer slightly open to prevent mold so the air can circulate through the washing machine and that what everyone does including washing machine enthusiasts like me

Can also use laundry sanitiser if you don’t use fabric softener.
Bleach in an empty cycle and putting on 90 degrees is also good especially if your washer heats it’s own water as the temperature steps up the bleach really pulls everything out no scrubbing needed!

We just upgraded our machines, but the front loader I had previously was still in immaculate condition (7/8 years old)..... because I also wipe the rubber seal with a microfiber cloth every wash, and I NEVER leave the washer door closed, when laundry isn’t running.... it’s a perfect breeding ground for mold, to be sealed shut, still wet, after washing a load of laundry.
Simple and quick regular maintenance, keeps them perfect.......

That is a good idea, let it soak for a while. I had pretty bad mold on an old washing machine that I got with the house I bought. I just poured a gallon of bleach into it and put it on heavy / max fill setting and ran that 4 times with hot / cold. That worked pretty well, it still had some residual bleach even after that, but it was mostly gone. The bleach somehow just dissolves the mold

I buy white vinegar by the gallon just fill up the bleach or softener dispenser with each and every load, takes the hardness out of the water you won't even need fabric softener anymore and it keeps all the pipes and the machines squeaky clean from soap buildup..Best thing you can do. Also put a cup of it in the dishwater standing up on bottom rack. Spot fee dishes, clean pipes and tub. If you do this with every single load there will be nothing to clean later

This is great, thanks so much. Unfortunately I inherited a washer that looked like it was never cleaned. I got it about halfway after hours of spraying bleach and wiping with paper towels. This is a great idea to soak rags with the bleach and stick them in the gasket and on top. I'm gonna definitely try this. Hopefully this can get me the rest of the way.

It is harder when you brush. Just slowly spray around and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes then wipe. If it is not yet well cleaned. Spray again and leave for anothe 20 minutes. Then put baking soda inside the machine and let it wash itself for 14min.

    1. Use no more than 2 table spoon of HE detergent powder.
    2. Don’t use liquid detergent and softeners. These are the main culprits.
    3. Wipe the seals and leave your door and detergent tray open after every wash.
    4. Run tub clean cycle every month with 100 grams of citric acid powder.

Having cleaned mine using just about every technique possible, the best option is really to remove the entire gasket and soak it in bleach water 50/50 for 12+ hours. There is so much in there that you just can’t get to any other way. Yes - it’s a lot of work and can be difficult…. But it does clean it the best.

A little tip for US housewives. When washing whites, simply add a small dash of Jeval or Domestos (chlorine cleaner suitable for washing laundry). Let it rinse with Water in the washing powder compartment for the main wash.
About half a capful from a liquid detergent.
This way, there are no deposits in your washing machine and your white laundry will be bright white.
