I was so “into” this game that when my reform bill didn’t pass, I actually felt like had failed these digital people 😆
I managed to pass Constitutional change, and was Centrist Reformist. I was at the bottom of the compass at the end, between Left and right. Trully at the center
I had my Assembly vote sabotaged by making the threshold 1 vote higher than whatever votes I get (166 ayes).
I felt genuinely furious about the Speaker being so casual on letting this kind of corruption exist that I wanted an option to call for an uprising.
That's how good this game's immersion is.
@Лука Барајић how? I never got it past the assembly.
Truly an immersive game.
I was doing a good job at recovering the country from all the crisis, until I had too much debt from investing in construction projects and policies.
I felt sad for failing the people of Sordland and retired at the end of the term to spend more time with my family.
I only wanted absolute powaaaaaa
I have countless hours on this game, something people forget to mention is the fact that you choose your own story before the game even starts. The first thing you do is go through life and pick your wealth, your education, what you did in your free time, etc. it makes it feel like it’s really you doing these things.
It also backfires at you very much sadly
I must say this game can really destroy one's ego, beliefs and ideals and ultimately hope...
still fun tho 😂
Hahaha you thought socialism would work huh?
@@CricketsAreUs It felt disgusting to wish for a war just to win an election
@@imlivingunderyourbed7845 I bet. Socialism is toxic. I see why you would say that :)
Nah it just turned me into another Tarquin Soll
this game is GREAT everyone. try it!
I played this during the second steam games festival in the year.
This was a really nice game to play. First time playing a text based game, at least in the past 25 years. Yeah it’s released now so I’ll be playing the whole game now 😀🤩
I played this game and it was so worth it. I almost cried because I was able to pass my reform legislation.
I shouted loudly after that victory
@@Griviansame XD
This game will crush your dreams of a competent government
I’ve succeeded in lifting the nation out of recession into absolute prosperity. Life standards were up, I’ve had my second term guaranteed, then... some petty corruption scandal surfaced and I had no means of defending myself. Ridiculous.
Git gud
should have allied with the media...
@@vegemarkr4582 I did that by allying with Mr Koranti but was then betrayed by Julian who recorded and altered that convo as evidence of why I should be impeached
@@TY-km8hj Same thing happened to me. I got impeached and spent the rest of my life in prison. I should have moved my personal funds offshore and fled the country when I had the chance.
@@drzerogi same didn't flee either and got fucked over. I've played another playthru and I ended up going to war but lost and got killed as their forces raided my capital. I enjoy the game but i feel certain endings could feel a little contrived
This is such an amazing game. I was so invested in the game that I was taking setbacks personally. I was ashamed when my insider trading deal was exposed. I shouted loudly when my reform passed, or when the USP decided to keep me as chairman, and winning the election. It took me 24 hours (steam time) to complete the game but I still wanted to continue playing. All that work and I can't play Rayne's second term. Well, maybe in a future sequel.
I normally don't go for this kind of game but this sounds too interesting to not at least try
This is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I’m 6 hours in and am so engrossed would suggest buying it.
0:50 Is that the Hungarian parlament in the background?
Love these reviews, it clearly tells me what they like and dislike and their opinion spooler free
Makes me keep an eye on any of the games that sound interesting that I would probably have never picked up before
My first play through I tried to help people but then went full authoritarian and created the secret police and assassinated everyone I didn’t like, then I declared war on rumburg and died by execution when I failed. At least I wasn’t evil and payed for my drivers kids education.
The Suzerain created Pokemon Zeta and Omicron, one of the best Pokemon Fangames ever conceived.
Z/O have kinda aged poorly, but his second project Insurgence is still really good.
Reborn/Rejuvenation/Desolation are still king for me though.
"It's get better after the 6th hour"
I HOPE IT DOES, OTHERWISE YOU STOLE MY REFUND
jokes aside, I am already sold on the game and when I hear that it just gets better, I am in love with it
"It can be boring as it focuses on policy and not characters..." This is why most political news coverage is awful. It needs to be dumbed down to appeal to people who get bored when you need to explain nuance.
well you are misquoting, he said it can be dry not boring. And saying the policy decision can be dry is fair. But dry can be interesting.
@@alexoelkers2292 Meh ..... I never heard anyone using 'dry' as a compliment
This is a game meant to be played for fun, where no life will be left worse off for any decision made. It has no bearing whatsoever on actual world events or their reportage.
I loved the demo when it came out, can't wait to play this full game, I'm glad it came out fine in the end.
Hmmm, colour me intrigued. Might have to check this one out.
The game is... draining. It is a good representation of what it is supposed to do but after Turn VII, I didn't have the strength to play. I loved everything about it, but the feeling of powerlessness and constant obstacles simply drained me. After trying hard to provide for the people while at the same time trying not to piss everyone off and be morally pure, I've got to see two new obstacles for every one I go over. We all know what politics is like, but when a simple game places you in somewhat realistic shoes like this, it is depressing. I do not recommend this to anyone who has any sort of idealistic principle when it comes to politics. It is all just moral filth through and through.
Everyone is corrupt and one or two good people able to do something can't because the entire state is against them, and you. Everyone lies, everyone steals, and you can't do a damn thing about any of it. Yours is just to try to squeeze through the bars and hopefully get to the end. You can't replace any of the people that you should realistically have an option to (as presidents do) and you are stuck with the bottom of the barrel human material to "help" you do something in the country.
I don't think I will finish my first playthrough and if I go for the second one ever, I am going full dictator because nice guy gets you no where. Maybe it also gets me nowhere, but at least I'd know it's because I was a huge dictatorial asshole. And if it DOES get me somewhere, then it is truly a bad message to be sent through a game about political management.
As I said, this is really emotionally draining game.
Totes agree it is draining. But I'd disagree on being nice getting you nowhere. I stuck to some core values and while I faced opposition and corruption, I made a difference for the better. Though not always in the ways I expected.
@@RexiconJesse exactly. The whole point is that you can never really be a fully nice guy in politics. There will always be hard decisions, decisions you wish you didn’t have to take. But you can still remain down a fairly good path
Serbian comment? Based. Kako si?
hahaha ave rayne sordland military goes brrrr
It's tough being a leader
You had me at "dense worldbuilding" although having to wait 6 hours before you get into the meatier stuff is a bit much!!!
If it's the dense world-building part interests you, getting to the meatier stuff could be worth it. Because there's a lot you can dive into before that, and that knowledge helps your choices later on. And there are choices you make early on, they're just less frequent.
@@RexiconJesse does sound good. I've also been very intrigued by the Templin Institute's coverage of Sordland. Have you seen it?
@@SFRobertsDickClarke I have not. I'll have to look at that.
I haven't played it yet, but I'd imagine that's deliberate. If the lore is dense, they'd need to make sure the player is exposed to enough information to understand the choices being presented to them. You can't meaningfully choose whether to support Party A or Party B without knowing what they stand for, how the public views them, how powerful they currently are, their long-term goals, etc. That sort of information takes time to convey.
He is wrong or false i cant say. RIght from the start you are reminded over and over that country is in recession and system is corrupted and right from the start you are laying down groundworks for change. Right after the start you will notice that your choices indeed matter and when you get close to the end you can see how and where you were wrong right from the start. Its a great visual novel. In fact its astounding how every piece of dialog makes sense and matters and how politically realistic everything is.
Excellent short review to get an idea what the game is about
One of the best political games i ever played. Really the best game in this genre.
honestly this game puts a whole new perspective on being a president and how much you have to handle. especially in the beginning of the game when you have all of these problems coming towards you at the same time.
You sold it to me!
1:00 what is that codex there?
It's pretty much an in-game wikipedia for important characters/events/political parties. very useful in gameplay, and is where you get most of your deep lore.
This game is different. It makes you feel something for those people that aren't even real 😂
It’s a good game however after 2 play through thus far, there is a noticeable problem with the ending of the game. Without divulging into spoilers, the game has several different endings based on your decisions throughout and the endings I’ve got, along with many of my friends who’ve also played through twice, have been completely random and had nothing to do with the decisions we made during the game. The devs have addressed this but as a forewarning, your decisions may not end up mattering at the end due to (possible) bugs with the games code.
Correction on this. The decisions matter and that is exactly how the endings trigger. We have 9 main and 20+ sub endings that track hundreds of choices.
Some are just too difficult from a balance perspective which has been mended. Further improvements are along the way.
Best from Torpor!
@@TorporGames u guys are goats. I follow ur careers with great interest:)
I loved it, I have to replay it though now ;)Just make sure you love reading, a lot of reading.I ll add two things.First add the two superpowers aka USA and Russia to the things you have to decide. And its actually for 10 euros if you dont buy the soundtrack, although it is a good one, considering there is no "action" involved, I didnt get sick of it.
i absolutely loved this game. I think it should be used in schools to show how complex politics can be and how, even if you have clear view of what is ideal for society, you still need to take all interests into consideration unless you want to become a dictator..
I am sorry petr, you where holding me back...
Is that Mike Haggar?!
Being a leader is hard work
My first ending without tutorial were end with me being impeached by the military & sentences me life in prison before finally get freed by the new government after 7 years waiting in prison
Its pretty fun
I was hoping this game would run easy on my macbook but it makes it run even hotter than crusader kings 3 :/
This game interested me in socialism. I mean it can't be that bad if I managed to get the best ending with the best healthcare, education etc.
Same goes for capitalism tho
In fact, the game allows you to spend more money on healthcare and shit if you're doing stuff like privatizing
You never lived in a socialist country.
Good luck with no work, empty shelves and food rations!
@@xXEliminatorXx99 All 3rd world countries are socialist? Don't pretend like that doesn't happen in capitalist countries. Socialist and capitalist states can both be wealthy.
The countries you are refferring to had it hard. Cut them some slack will ya?
don't allow video games to inform your political beliefs.
@@maji2758 Yes I've learned so. Can't believe how easily swayed I was, 9 months ago. Not that I changed my mind that is.
cool
I guess with the game being part of prime games this month you cant make too big a mistake
When I played this game i felt like I was Anton Rayne and I did have the duty to protect this fake country
I've only played the demo and I already know this game is gonna be good
Ooooh I love political intrigue in video games
I want this in my life right now give it to me give it to m
Thanks for the review. Sounds boring
Love this gaaaame
It’s too short and not finished!
no eng sub oh boring. UA-cam have auto sub. Why you don't put it?
Dialogue is text based
Ghlaw-ssory
Yeah, no, Got more than enough politics to last me for a lifetime...pass...
I wouldn't call this a game, more like a visual novel that has a skin of a Democracy 3 / Victoria 3 offspring. Enraging due to unclear choice to outcome, and feeling of being "locked in" instead of having actual choice. Don't get me started on the wife.
This game, Definately immersive. I can relate to the book reader inclinates' who say the book is better than a Game/movie/series.
The game I feel is frankly set to show you how difficult it is to run a country in actuality.
It's definately taxing on your mind due to its un-apprehensive immersive ESS, probably affecting your behavior with your family/room mates/co livers if you aren't of a mature mind.
Beware, it's very subversive and I feel it's an instrument of the so called George Soros kind, aiming to show how worthless your attempts are to save your reign.
I personally have never been able to get a 2nd term, or I even do not know if the second term is a permissible scenario planned in the game mechanics.
But its definately an awesome game, set to challenge you.
If you feel all the liberal decisions are to be implemented, it will show you that unless you have unlimited budget it is a perverse expectation, set as an ideal for a left liberal society, which any human run government will fail, time and again.❤
*Me 10 seconds in*
Yhatzee is better

And if this was trying to do what ZP does you would have a point.
I'm a big ZP fan too, but why crap on the good stuff that 3MR does?
How edgy of you Andi
@@SFRobertsDickClarke The only one you can really crap on is Cinema Roberto and his spaceship technof4sc1sm
