  • In this video, I'm walking through the full Anthem MRX 540 web interface to showcase what options, configurations, and capabilities are present on this receiver.
    The device is updated to latest firmware as of recording this video but has not been formerly installed or set up in a home theater environment yet. So this is as stock as the UI gets out of the box.
    I really really like this Anthem interface. It feels logical, looks contemporary, and navigates and presents quite well.

    CEC was the only way to get sound from my tv. Definitely turn it on.

      CEC is for control, not for audio transmission. It can also be problematic is you don't need it. So, I'd be wary there. Something is probably afoot in your system.

    Thanks for the Review.
    I have the MRX1140 and was one of the first in my area to get it. I had a lot of problems, mostly with running ARC and getting the mic to connect. The technical support was nonexistent. I think they have it all working now so I will be curious to see what your experience is like. I will also be curious to see your opinion of the Trinnov running in your room. Your experience will be unique to anyone else on UA-cam since you are neither an owner or a dealer, so your opinion will be non-bias. I am always afraid that someone that spends that kind of money is going to have a placebo effect when listening to it.

      Thanks! Yeah, I understand Anthem had some bugs to fix early on, but I believe the devices are more stable now. We did encounter one bug setting this up at my friend's house with regards to input creation/deletion.
      I have 2 more Trinnov videos made and scheduled and another final thoughts will come after that. Ha, placebo effect is real for sure. We all want to believe we spent our money well and the stuff we chose is great. I think I have a slightly different take on what the makes the Trinnov a performer as well. Stay tuned.

    Great video! I have an older Marantz and been looking to change to Anthem MRX 540 or Onkyo RZ50. You mentioned briefly about CEC being undependable. Curious if you know, in my current set up I connect Apple TV 4K to Marantz to LG OLED and use the Apple TV remote to turn on, off and control Marantz volume. Do you know the Anthem will work the same?

      It’s supported by the Anthem but CEC is often unreliable in general, hence my comment.

    I couldn’t find anything in the manual regarding a high pass crossover . But now I can see you can choose the cross over points for the front , rear and surround speakers .
    Liked and subbed .
    Not sure if there’s an answer for this. I am going to order the 540 and use it in my basement gym . I really want two sets of stereo channels , not surround . Not sure if that’s possible.
    In case this is confusing , I want a stereo channel in one area of my gym and another stereo channel at another location in the gym

      You shouldn't need to set the crossovers manually. They will get set as a function of using ARC Genesis calibration, which you definitely want to do with the MRX. I don't believe the 540 will support dual stereo speakers directly. You could achieve this with a zone2 option, but the 540 doesn't support zone2. You'd need the 740 for that. For buying the receiver, I'd get on it this month. There is a 20% sale going now on Anthem gear. I also ask, please consider buying through my channel partner, Audio Advice. bit.ly/TM_AA_Anthem I can put you in direct touch with my business contact there if you message me through techthusiasm_jp@outlook.com. Thanks!

    It would be helpful if you make a video on anthem calibration and speaker reassignment feature, means unused speaker terminals can be used for extra speakers after we use external amp for mains etc.

      Will do. More Anthem coming for sure when I get my AVM70.

    How do the triggers work? Can triggering HDMI for example make the TV auto turn on if CEC is enabled?

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  2 роки тому +1

      Triggers are small voltage signals one devices sends to tell another device to turn on. It’s a different wire than HDMI and separate from CEC.

    I've recently purchased a MRX 540 8k and I ran ARC the improvements are there however I cannot save different profiles for the 1-4 section (same orignal profile across all 4 tabs).
    Is this because the 540 does have channel mapping etc or am I inputing profile information incorrectly?

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  Рік тому

      Hmm, the 540 supports the same ARC features as the others, so it shouldn't have any problem using the profiles. I'd make sure firmware is updated and you're using the latest version of ARC. Otherwise, hard to say. Check with Anthem support.

    Hi there, I would like to ask you how effective dolby audio post processing is on low volume viewing.

      This receiver belongs to my friend at this house, so it isn't directly accessible to test anything until I'm next over his house. I hope to buy an AVM70 soon though for my own room and then will more easily be able to test and answer questions on Anthem processing.

    Ok after more consideration I’m debating to purchase the avm70 processor. It may too late ,but anthem has not sent me an email that the mrx540 is shipped yet .
    Question . I have a Cambridge cxa80 receiver . It’s a 2 channel amplifier basic receiver type unit . I’m thinking of using it as the amplifier for the Avm 70 . The Cambridge does have a volume control , so I’m an assuming I can figure out how to set it correctly. It also has Direct , which bypasses its treble / base control . It also has lxr inputs which is a bonus .
    Maybe this is a bad idea but I think it could work , and no chance of fan noise

      If you'd like to discuss options, message me at techthusiasm_jp@outlook.com. I can put you in touch with my channel partner at Audio Advice who can sell you any Anthem gear with the current sale discount and advise on how to best configure the setup you are looking for. bit.ly/TM_AA_Anthem Anthem also offers their MDX line, which actually even serve you better for distributing audio around to multiple speakers as a switch and multi-zone amplifier in one.

      The 540 has 5 amps inside but processes up to 7 channels. So, you can get a 5.2.2 system out of it, but you'd need a 2-channel external amp to run your L/R mains.

    Can’t even get the stupid thing to connect to the network. Manual useless. No customer support. No how to guides by users that actually work. May have to return it. I’ve bought products 1/100th the price that had better service.

      Are you going Wi-Fi? Ethernet should just plug in and work. Wi-Fi you need to use a phone/tablet per the instructions.
