Anthem rules! I also upgraded from Marantz to a new MRX 300 when it was first released and fell in love. I was already a Paradigm fanboy and was using a 7.1 Studio speakers at the time. Regrettably I sold the MRX 300 a couple of years later and ran a Yamaha for awhile. What a mistake - eventually I found a used Anthem MRX 500 and I had since downsized the speakers a 5.1 set up of mixed speakers. Eventually the amp had some circuit problems and I had to get rid of it as I expected the repairs would have cost more than it was worth. Again I picked up an entry level Yamaha to fill the gap until I could find a newer (used) Anthem. About 8 months later I found an MRX 310 and tried the Paradigm Monitor Series V5 speakers - A great match for my little Studio apartment. I am happy again with my system, I recently listened to Paradigm's Prestige line and again fell in love, however being retired I have to watch every penny, but over the next year I expect to be able to find a nice used pair of Paradigm Prestige 15B speakers to start me off on the upgrade path once again. Thanks for the video it was great!
Good video. I upgraded from a Marantz SR6010 to an Anthem MRX 1120 a little while back. Yeah ARC Genesis crushes Audyssey. My AVR is far beyond my theater speakers, really want to upgrade but ARC really put a crimp on that making it a want over a need. Dang you, ARC for being so effective!
I got the MRX 740 at launch and just like you, I've been one of the fortunate ones without a problem. I came from an Onkyo and I love this Anthem. I want Roon as well. And I find that holding the volume button makes the volume go up way too fast. But I'm overall very satisfied with it.
I’m here because my Onkyo TX-NR686 just died on me (after 3 years). I’m now set on nothing else but Anthem MRX series! I’m torn between the MRX540 & 740 (budget-wise).
@@happydogg312 Have you tried firmware update or factory reset? The last time my Onkyo did that was due to a bug, and after a reset it worked just fine.
I agree. The Anthem woke my system up. The ceiling sounds like an entirely new soundstage. Certainly did not expect it to sound this much better than the Marantz. The impact from mids and distinct detail of the highs is like having new speakers! 🔊
Man you are going to love your HT system when you are in a house and you will have a good bit of fun and work to do with your theater space, but it will be worth the effort. 2022 looking forward to this process.
its funny i have watched videos about the Anthem and always shy away from it because of the bugs but you are the only one that has talked me into it so much that im going to a seminar for it a home theater engineering company is having one and thanks to you im going and will definitely be getting it which im not sure if its the AVR or PrePro
I had purchased the Anthem 1140 and when I read about the problem including the noisy fan and claibration issues so I decided on the Yamaha RX A8A and cancelled the Anthem.
I went from a Marantz SR7009 to an MRX1140, and i have to say that the sound is on a completely another level. Such clarity. And pressure, without harshness. The only thing missing is some cool features, like reverb and stuff, which is nice when listening to classical music, for example. There's nothing of that. And i think the big display could be put to better use, like displaying what speakers are in use, etc. Everything is very basic in this aspect.
So I’m trying to tell the difference between the MRX 1140 I have and the AVM70 besides the amps. Does it sound different ? Wish you were in Nashville so we could AB them
I bought the MRX1140 on backorder. I lost track on how many months I've been waiting but I agree it's worth it. Luckily it's for my vacation house so I'm not there now but I'm excited to get it incorporated into that system. I'm glad I bought it before the price increased to $4k. Everything I bought for that system has increased in price over the last couple months. Speakers, subs and MRX1140 would cost me 1K+ more now than a couple months ago
Great videos. I have the AVM 70 and agree with you it's a great unit. I do have an issue and wondering if you have had the same. As an example. When switching from my cable box to watching Netflix via my Sony the AVM does not switch input automatically. I have to find the AVM remote and manually change to the proper input. Thanks
All my devices are connected to the avm itself so haven't tried it but make sure hdmi cec is on in the TV and avm and your plugged into hdmi arc on both pieces of equipment
i love my anthem mrx 1140 and yes it is the best receiver i have owned. however i do have some issues with it as it has stopped doing room sweeps for calibration. luckily i have saved calibration files to work with as i wait for a solution to my issue from anthem ( month and still waiting for them to figure it out as im out of ideas lol). my big complaint with anthem as many early adopters like myself weren't expecting to be beta testers for this pricey piece of equipment. that being said the sound i get from this receiver with my speaker setup is awesome ! the big issue here is the fact that these new products rely heavily on your internet network and apps like google home and others which introduces potential glitch points not to mention arc genesis also has a few bugs. the issues with these new products seem to be mostly software related which is why i will stick with anthem and patiently wait for these issues to be resolved through firmware updates.
@@Kpaceguy seems to be an issue limited to a handful of people fortunately. anthem tech support seem a bit stumped by it considering the fact it ran flawlessly prior to that. also having issues with the on screen display that shows up on the tv. works when i send a calibration file to the receiver but craps out to a grey bar when the source is changed. not a big issue but like i said the software used to run the receiver is a bit buggy
This Anthem processor is almost as big as my Pioneer VSX-1014TX with broken internal amps that I use as a processor only. The pioneer is several inches deeper though. In my thoughts of getting a dedicated processor/preamp I had hoped to get one kind of slimmer than the huge pioneer. Well, this Anthem one would be a lot easier to mount in my theater room just from the shorter depth. I would provably run the Pioneer until can get a premium one like this. The Pioneer is THX, not bad sounding, and really the only thing it's missing is Lossless Multi-Channel.

Hi , I'm still bothering you.., practically the wi fi seems to be connected, since I noticed that it has made some updates even if I don't know how to see if it is connected😜. The CEC is active, but I don't understand why it then turns off the HDMI Bypass🤷🏻♂️. With the Avm 70 turned on, I turn the devices on and off regularly, but when the AVM 70 is turned off, the devices struggle to turn on.., indeed they don't turn on. Where should I put my hand?
They do turn on BUT the avm70 won't switch to that input when it's off. You have to have the source selected before you turn off the avm70. So if you want to use device on hdmi 2 but you turned the avm70 off on when it was on hdmi 1, hdmi 2 Will not output.
But it is absurd to want to watch a Sky Q or Apple TV program, and necessarily have to turn on the Anthem Avm 70. In your opinion, if you connected the HDMI devices to the TV inputs, and from the TV you sent the eArc to the Anthem AVM 70, would that solve..?
