I saw a metallic burnt orange Corvette with this front facia in downtown Phoenix about a year ago. It was tooling around on a Saturday night when a lot of people were there for basketball or other events. I saw it from about 100 yards away, but it looked really good. Since then, that same colored car has shown up in "illustrations" online.
Ok listen. I'm not using an opinion just stating facts. The Camaro and Mustang have always been made for the track. Muscle cars are for straight lines. And if muscle cars must use a v8, then why were the camaro and mustang been offered with 6 cylinder models since the release of them? Because they are PONY CARS not muscle cars. It doesn't matter is a muscle car has 4 doors. Its defined as a heavy sedan than must seat at least 4 and can be used for street used then specializes in the quarter mile...

If the engine issues are sorted which plagued the z06 in many tests then i think this will be setting bench mark times along with the GT2 RS. Will have guaranteed huge amounts of grip as the z06 was already insane when the car was setup right(facepalm...) Look forward to seeing it!
John Jones Have you checked the lap times on various tracks? The Z06 beats the Nismo GTR on most of them, for example, in Laguna Seca the Z06 is 2 seconds faster than the Nismo GTR with the same driver.
There's no nurburgring time for any GM JUNKER c7 joke car. The Nurburgring. The only track that matters. The only reason GM making it mid-engine because GM could not beat the NISMO 7:08 with the c7. Poor GM tried so hard to beat the time and FAILED on every attempt. SO SAD.
The car looks great and all. But if all the rumors are true, its a little dissapointing. Its just a z06, with an altered body, a bigger supercharger, and a large fixed rear wing. And worst of all, rumors are saying the car weighs over 3600 lbs making it the heaviest corvette of all time. The car looks great no doubt. But I just wish they would have made it more unique apart from the z06. Its all still just rumors, but you never know.
V8Supercar1 i doubt it will weigh more. Carbon fiber will be used to offset weight. And it doesnt have anything luxury wise the z06 didnt. So as far as mechanics. I dont see how it will weigh more. Besides the supercharger adding weight.

If the zl1 shoots flames out of the exhaust it would burn the Catalytic converter making the emissions horrible. Also there is no point seeing its supercharged.
The engine is most likely a lightly modified lt4. We all know the lt4 is easily capable of making that power. I think where the R&D was used the most in this car is for the chassis and tweaking the platform of the C7 to accept and utilize the extra power effectively. GM isn't really setting the world on fire with this car. However, I do think the next performance car to make a impact and to carry the Corvette name is the mid engine model when it's released.
This car has been testing around the Nurburgring for about 2-3 years....I'd say they had enough time to make a decent car, but knowing Chevy, it will probably barely beat it's rivals by 0.3 seconds despite having 100+ more horsepower and being more lightweight(the benefits of cheap plastic and low quality build i guess).
When will GM bring back the Corvette ZL-1 and the Baldwin Motion Phase III GT? I just wish GM would consider doing this and to make them be the fastest Vettes ever

It's funny they built this because Chief Engineer Tadge Juetcher said they went as far as they could go with the C7 ZO6 in terms of keeping the car on the pavement and getting the power to the ground. I don't see how this car with 750hp is going to stay planted.
When the ZO6 came out it had the best tire technology and still does, it really hasn't changed since. Hence why they are coming out with the mid engine Corvette, it was the only way to get to the next level. The ZO6 and ZR1 platform are as high as they could go.

I guarantee the ZR1 will feature a LT5-specific cam, heads, valve train components, cooling (which was mentioned in the article) as well as the larger and brand new Eaton TVS R2650 which has soooo much more potential than the R1740 that comes on the Z06. Probably a beefed up version of the 8L90 trans with quicker shift speeds amongst many other things.
So you don't think sticking an LT5 sticker on an LS motor is not rebadging. Oh, so they sourced a little bit bigger blower and put a cam in it, big deal. I mean, do you think there is any common sense to this thing being called an LT5 lol?
