I met an incredible guitarist one day if a first time meeting for everyone. He played all the songs perfectly. I suggested we play a song he didn't so without thinking I played the chords for him and named each chord as I played it. He stopped me and said, "Dude I don't know any notes, I just play the songs". I was amazed he could not tell me one chord in a son we had just played! You remind me of him.
I first saw this video sometime last year (2023) and saved it to my Guitar Playlist. I didn't have a guitar back then. Mine are in storage. I got an Epiphone Les Paul Gothic in January 2024. I've been going to physio therapy and getting stronger. I haven't been playing for several years, just a little bit here and there before my body yells at me. Today I was going through warm ups and picking. I then decided to drop the D and I fell back into playing the main Perry Mason riff. My Unison Bends are not terrible lol. I still have some power left in my chugging. I am slower, weaker and sloppier after not playing for so long but I know I can get it all back. I'll be watching this video a lot and learning. I have watched a lot of video lessons/tutorials on Perry Mason and this is hands down the best of them all. Thanks Euge 🤘🤘🤘
Man, I can watch Zakk lessons all day long. Love how you know the songs so well you do not need to play along w track and we get to hear just the raw live guitar. You are a machine!
Leading into the bridge with those riffs and harmonies, you can here where Zakk is channeling Randy. I have completely relapsed on this song, I've been obsessed with it for a week now, so well written in every aspect, side note Ozzy's vocals in the second verse are incredible, I love the way he is belting, I don't often notice a rasp in his voice. But my absolute favourite part of the song is the last riff in the guitar solo when he switches to the neck pick up and does that berserk riff that sounds like a pinball machine- what an amazing moment. This is an incredible video, thank you Euge !
I am not in the mood to learn new stuff today, or to tune my guitar down. But I clicked like anyway. That's because so many guitar channels are just gear pimps in disguise. They have to make a living, but it's not much use for the '15 million fingers learnin' how to play' -- Let There Be Rock. It's great when pro players take the time to make lesson videos sharing playing and tone tips etc. Back when I started out in the mid 1980s all that stuff was a complete mystery. I had to pretty much enter bars illegally as a teenager and pester gigging guitar players to show me riffs and licks and how their gear works etc (I learned more off guitar players than the dodgy tab books back then). My JMP 50 replica amp with PAF style pups is impossible to get this sound quite right, because it is wired more like a JTM45. It's just way too loose in the bass, even if I add high pass. I am having better luck with a Silver Jube plugin. Much tighter and the pinch harmonics pop better, which kind of makes up for the lower output pups that I love and do not love equally.
I hear you man. I started to play in ’89 and did pretty much what you did except not in bars but in local music shops 😎. And just listening, rewinding etc. my favourite songs & albums with my C-cassette tape deck and trying to learn how to play them 😎. 👌🤟Thanks!
The attitude om blues bending notes with distortion makes this my tied #1 solo with unforgiven 3 which also starts out with incredible bending on wah. Lights out and so bluesy but amplified. Devils Dance is also in the mix for insane bending solos
Great vid Euge, always liked when ZAKK played guitar with Ozzy awesome lesson. Take care stay healthy man,all the student ate back on campus here at UNH. Place is packed really have to look out for students walking out in front of my van. Thanks and all the best. Brian.🎸👍
There is also also a point to be made here that someone previously stated. Zakk's physical attack in playing this solo ua-cam.com/video/B3IzhglI0KM/v-deo.html effectively treats his guitar as an audio compressor. He hits the strings so hard that any "background" noise is crowded out and the strength of the audio signal overpowers any interference. It's a statement to his understanding of the audio technology and the precision, deliberateness and ferocity with which he plays.
Another cool vid... thanks, brotha! Love the Marshall power tower over your shoulder! (I'm a Marshall guy too!) Cheers! Oh, have you ever seen the old Perry Mason tv show, from way back? Just curious...
Wow! Great lesson! I remember so long ago (1969?) I was in a music store and was trying out an amp and I did those two string climbs of the same note (always a favourite) and a guy comes running into the part of the store I was in and asked “How’re you doing that?!!!”. Of course, I was only too glad to show him. Lol Thanks again for this lesson. Great song! The rest of that Osmosis album I found depressing. Just me? Lol (Also, I read that that solo tapping was done all pentatonic modes. I couldn’t do it. Lol)
Euge, you're technical skills are amazing, but you're missing the ascending root in the tapping sequence in the guitar solo. The defining characteristic of that sequence is that with each tapped pattern Zakk sequentially shifts the root higher. It's a very subtle aspect but it creates the aspect of a continuously upward spiraling motif.
Hey, can i ask you what cabs and speakers do you use with your jcm 800? I just bought a 2204 84' and im looking for a good rock/metal cab to match it :) Great playing btw!
I hardly use cabs but Suhr & St. Rock Reactive loads and Jens Bogren’s Impulse Responses. But when I used cabs (live & in studio) I used mostly my Fryette FatBottom w/ Eminence P50E speakers, oversized Mesa, basic ENGL and basic Marshall 4x12s all usually loaded with Celestion V30s and sometimes also with 25 watt Greenbacks 👌. Thanks!
Been a while since I hit yip up. Stellar playing as usual. I needed a little Perry Mason touch up. Hope you’re doing great my man. How can I get in touch with you ?
If you watch the boss himself play the solo here: ua-cam.com/video/B3IzhglI0KM/v-deo.html you can see that in the tapped sequence of the guitar solo he repeatedly shifts the root of the pattern in a scalar ascension with each repetition. The "upward spiral" for lack of a better term is a defining characteristic of the intrinsic FEEL of the solo.
Hey Euge I have sent you message on Reverb asking you what power supply is better to use for the pedal I bought from you. I am waiting for reply so i could order the right one. Thanks

He has perfect ear for music. That’s why he doesn’t need all that music theory.

Check out the Sabotage album if you like Ozzy's raspy voice, especially Megalomania. Such an underrated album.

Your sound is great!!! Excellent playing.
Thanks!
And that IS a really cool & original song!
One of my fave Blizzard/Oz songs! 👏
Yeah!
it's from Ozzmosis, not Blizzard of Oz
@@Mr._Lister_The_Sister_Phister; I know, but I’ve been calling the band ‘BoOz’ andertons the beginning.
Crazy babies next?🤔🤔🔥
We’ll see 😎
EUGE, do a video lesson on the rig rundown on getting those Joe Holmes tones because his set up is unusual to get his tones.
Thanks for the lesson. It helped me a lot
Glad to hear! 🙏🤟

Only Zakk Wylde can make those dissonant wah tones into a riff lol. And it's a cool ass riff too.
thanks
