You did good showing us this. Can you please do another video showing us how to design on mobile for Android? I can't find anything to help me make the design I want.
Why is everyone hating on this, the guys is trying to help you from his free time. Everyone does thing differently, I thought it was very insightful, Great work dude
Why? Because tattoo artist(some of em) get butthurt cause they put so much time in maybe for apprenticeships and what not. Ppl get mad cause he's such a badass artist and they had to pay to learn to tattoo. But fuck em! Oliver keep doing it man. Haters gonna hate my friend. Much respect from the states..
Wow thank you so much I have a MacBook Pro and had no idea how to do this on photoshop until I watched your video, Thanks a million. Oh and great job by the way you explain everything very fluently with no lag or confusion. You sir, are an awesome person. Most tattoo artists wouldn't even dare teach this technique and are most likely mad you did in this video. Thanks again buddy your a life saver and you have a new Sub here, all it took was this video and that's not common for me to sub on the first video of anybody.
Seen this on my recommend videos. I don't have photoshop but this video made me want to buy it just to fool around on with tattoo ideas and other shi... crap ;) . Great Video Man!
Actually, it would be much better to use masks instead of the eraser, since with the mask you do not lose the information, you are always in time to recover something that you have hidden.
Thankyou for the tip, I will try this, I taught myself so didn’t have much to go off, hell of a lot of negative people out there ready to knock someone down, if anyone has any videos they want to do, id love to see
@@OLIVERAYRE also no need to access the layer style window every time to set a blend mode. the same dropdown menu is at the top of the layers panel. i found myself rolling eyes watching you navigate photoshop aswell, but then i realised this isnt a photoshop but a tattoo tutorial after all. youd probably react weird to me trying to tattoo aswell because you the professional there 🙈
or you mask the arm with pen tool and then go with alt click between the layers (a small arrow will show up) so those will automatically crop onto the arm's silhouette.
If you use shift + cmd when resizing, it will do it from the center (I personally find it more usefull sometimes). The "undo" thing, you have more than one undo, but the cmd + z is for "looping" from one thing to another (one back one forth), so when you do something you can actually compare and decide which version do you prefer. To undo "properly" (more than once), you have to use the cmd + shift + Z. To change the layer property, you don't need to double click on it either, you can actually click on it once to select it, and right on top of the layer window, you have there a pop-out (left of the opacity), where you can chose the property that you want. I also taught myself to use Photoshop a lot of years ago, and I think you'r video it's really nice, so thank you for showing it. If you want more tips or need help with Photoshop things, just give me a say.
Have you ever tried Krita? I just started with digital art a couple weeks ago. Not knowing how it would go I went with a decent tablet and free software. I am really glad I didn't pay for photo shop. I tried it at a friends place and at least for the forseeability future am going to ride and die with the mind blowing free software. My friend said there is a slight hardly noticeable bit of lag when drawing at faster speeds. Am sure it will be long off before I will notice/be bothered by it. Thanks for the good video, exactly what I needed.
Real good advice! Samohin did do the under water tiger and it came out "sick"! But the truth is that not everyone has the same level of talent, just like footballers... they all run , but there are only a couple of them that stand out!! Cheers from Germany!
Thanks for your tutorials. A suggestion: Duolicate your layer before erasing the sides for the arm mock up so you can save the size and edits and not do a redo. Just a thought. I’m a graphic designer so I do this a lot. 🤓🙌🏽
Made... this is just for his customers to show them how it looks when it is on a part of the body. That's what he's saying the whole time this video.....
Hi just read the comments OMG abuncha smack talkers lol id ignore all that! :) i wanted to ask you to do a video strictly about flow, Please! That smoke added so much to the piece! Why did you say adding flow on a computer will look rough? Can it really only be done freehand like you said? Would LoVe a vid about this :) been tattooing many for years and the flow thing has really always been hard for me to understand and your flow was really cool I think you have a good eye for it and you started talking about it then stopped. Would Love to get more into this with you :) please Resond :) i think you can help me Lots :) thanks for making this vid dude!!!! Greetings from the USA
Best thing with layering click on the tiger layer and press ctrl and click the arm so it’ll highlight then press ctrl alt and I and it’ll invert it then you can cut it
haha this is great help!! just started handpoking and havent used ps in ages haha plus i had no idea how i could prepare a design to make a bigger tattoo and change sizes to then make the stencil. thanks for the videoo
Spent 20 minutes to be told to use multiply the hard way...should have left when he went to google to search for the site he literally just left. I hope this is at least helpful to people new to photoshop, but you know the blending modes are literally right there next to the opacity? If you select the list you can just scroll through the blending modes with arrow keys. Additionally (for those new to photoshop); Clarity affects the detail seen in the image, there is an *actual* contrast slider for altering contrast of values - and you can do everything you need in Image> Adjustments with Black & White and Brightness/Contrast (also found to the left of the folder icon in the bottom of the layers tab). The Camera Raw Filter is an advanced photography tool for editing RAW image files, that store masses of information that simply doesn't exist in a compressed file like a JPEG or PNG. I mean, it won't hurt, but it's absolutely overkill for this basic level of editing. If you select the auto-select box (located in the top tool bar, next to group when using the transform/move tool(V)) you don't need to manually switch layers in order to move them. Normally I'd have this off, but if you're shuffling the composition of a collage it'll make things much easier to have it on. Also to do with layers, when he imports the image of the rose, some of you may have noticed that the layer thumbnail has a little icon in the corner. This icon indicates that the layer is a smart object, and when he tries to erase on the layer a window pops up asking for confirmation to rasterize the layer. Smart Objects are different to rasterized layers (which are the default) in that while you cannot add or subtract to the layer by drawing or erasing/deleting, it maintains 100% of it's information when you transform it, whereas if you make a rasterized image very small it will lose quality and become blurry if you try to re-enlarge it. Photoshop will invent the missing information, so the image won't become pixelated, but if the size difference is too large it can significantly lower the image quality. If you want to rasterize a layer, or turn it into a Smart Object, you can do so by right clicking on the layer and selecting the appropriate option from the list. You can change the physical size of the canvas (when you create it, and in Image> Canvas Size) so you should be able to just print it on the first try, no faff, as long as you measure how large you want the tattoo to actually be. You can use the [ and ] keys to change brush sizes while using the brush(B)/eraser(E) tools, and CTRL -/+ to zoom on the canvas. And as a bunch of others mentioned; layer masks, not erasers for this task. (Layer masks are the little icon that looks like a japanese flag in the bottom of the layers tab) Alternatively, holding alt and clicking on the line between two layers will create a clipping mask. Clipping masks allow layers to only be visible in the shape of the layer below (this would mean removing the background around the arm, but in this case selecting the white area with the magic wand (W) and deleting would be easy enough) Lastly, if using photos for direct reference to earn profit... obtain the rights to use that photo first if it's not yours. If taking a photo is too easy to be worth paying money for then take your own.
Applause and thanks to you for a very reliable tutorial! ;) and one more idea for moving back. Tab „History". It's a real Time Machine :) (window -> history). We can go back to any move;)
I do a lot of sketches to detailed drawings to make tattoo designs for clients. I also do contests on 99designs. Many of the designers use your method of designing so while I'm still drawing they have a design submitted, if not 3. Anyway my question is what about copy rights of the pictures you pull off of Pinterest? Can they not come back on you for just dragging and dropping, using their picture? I love you videos the most out of many I have watched. You answer questions and show some really good footage of needle to skin. This way of designing would be helpful in the contests and getting a design ready if I don't have to worry about copyrights. Thank you for your time and patience with your audience. They can get nasty sometimes. Sincerely, Rose
I’ve got a quick question. I’m a complete noob to tattoos and I have a client commission me to design one. I have a design. What do I need to do make it for the person applying the design on the client? I have no idea how it works
Loved this olive thanks a lot , one question I have is if this was to be turned in to a full sleeve how would you go about joining the outer forearm to inner forearm and top arm to bottom arm etc etc when you design it, is this something you would do on the day freehand or would you plan the whole arm out prior. I find I struggle with it looking like there is too much ink in the skin and not enough blank space, how do you combat this when designing ?
That's a really great video 😍😍 I have a question, we made a a tattoo done, now we are going to deliver it to the client, png file we will deliver only?
Very nice video. Question can you print the art when is already blended? Should be more easy and that way you don't need to go to the pictures again and guessing the size. So I mean enlarge the design when is done and try a few times to get the right size
Oliver I have used photoshop for many years and continue to learn. Instead of pulling your originals back in, make a copy layer of each and turn the eye off until you are done with how it will look. They you have the size and tilt exactly the same. Yeah?
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to uncover tattoo fonts try Lomonting Tattoo Images Mentor (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my friend got cool success with it
What you should do is remove the white background on the arm. Then you can mask the images over the arm and scale without worrying that the image is getting cut off on the sides. Good job tho
I mainly have trouble printing the right size of the tattoo stencil without knowing the size of a clients body part size rather than going based off a screen... someone help
