Tattooists, not artists. Artists draw the style they tattoo. Not trying to be an ass, just being honest. I dont draw realism normally, but I can tattoo the hell out of it because Ive sat hours on end doing realism. I tattoo mainly new school, neo trad and My own stylized version of irezumi. Ive drawn so maaaany dragons lol Get the knowledge where you can
@RhiceyHarierar the biggets issue with a lot of new tattooists is that they think an apprenticeship is a waste of time. That actually learning to draw is a waste of time. They wanna be tik tok famous without putting in real time. If you want to learn to draw cheap, theres a site called Domestika. But even free on youtube. It takes time and patience
Only real artist on UA-cam genuinely trying to help out newcomers and even veteran tattoo artists. I know this might seem simple but if you ever need a video, I know it’d help me a ton on a video for understanding stencils (once they’re applied to skin). Being an apprentice I see bigger stencils and I get stressed immediately and it looks very confusing on some sketches, just a thought, thanks again for everything you do G
Super thankful to artists like this, Im in the process of learning proper technique and getting licensed, but cant afford to leave the house for an unpaid and unproductive apprenticeship (the problem with shops in my town 😢) Good mentors are sadly rare…
Thanks Oliver..been watching from real early days finally bagged an apprenticeship..I work shift work and am now juggling my apprenticeship 3 days a week which I love and owe u alot for teaching me enough to get good enough to be taken seriously
I find that upping the streamline a little bit helps out with getting rid of the small wobbly lines. But I never knew about the curve thing that’s really helpful! Thankyou :)
What an awsome way to stencil...so easy.. I am researching all my beginner grear still but with content like yours..Im certainly getting an education worth having...Just awesome.. Thankyou..subed
Great video for young tattooers. One thing I think is important to note though....is zooming in super close can be very helpful to get those tight details. But keep in mind the size of the actual tattoo. You can’t zoom into the skin to see those tiny spots like you can on a tablet. Also, some of the very tiny shit won’t last n the skin. So use the zoom, it’s helpful! But always think about how much tiny details you’re picking out and how those will translate to the skin.
im not a tattoo artist but i just ended up on this video looking for ideas for my first tattoo. this is amazing. just seems so much more productive then stenciling on paper. sweet
I have to say how much I appreciate are you taking out the time in your busy schedule to show us and I'm apply this to my game to be the best tattoo artist I can be I've been doing it for now two years and I appreciate all that you can show me
Thanx! 4 inspired techniques from a fellow artisan who has been outta the field for some years from career change & raising family... I am totally stoked to pick this trade/passion up again you've intrigued me with this new technology thanks peace much Luvz & happy New Year✌🏻u 🤟
Literally bought my iPad Pro 2018 / Apple Pencil 2nd gen and Pro Create ( it costs £10 if I remember rightly ) for my tattoo apprenticeship. It seems to be a combo that’s an industry favourite and I can see why!
Well done bro! Quick tip, if you slightly reduce the opacity of your reference layer, it will be really obvious if you start your outline on the reference layer.
Thank you for the video, please please show us how you make 1 image using more photo refferences ( the way you put together the medusa as well). Thank you
You've you made new comers to this industry, like myself feel more welcome to the tattoo game. The knowledge you give out and love for this industry is amazing bro. Mad love from New Zealand.
well hope you understand what great video you make and what you mean to everyone who wants to learn and improve on their technology me you have inspired and helped in many big thanks and feel free to continue with more 👍👍👍😎
Dude helpful tool you may like is the ptouch editor from Brother, in a nutshell it allows you to import a photo and then you can size it, flip, and all all that jazz after your finished in procreate. It has a ruler on the left hand side and on the top so you always know the size of the image instead of just eyeballing it. the app is free. Brother's website isn't the greatest so I'd just google "p-touch software" and then find their website from there.
Thank you for this video, I was looking for it! I am guessing a transfer paper is needed, but would be nice to know where to put the paper in the machine to be ready in advance etc.
got ipad pro 12,9 for my father yesterday i can tell you right away it is defimetly worth the money i just keep getting amased by all functions to procreate and endless addons you can buy for it shit is just crazy and abnormaly usefull for this kind of job
Can you do a tutorial on the last part actually printing to the sketch and putting it to skin I'm really new at to this would love to see how you do it
Man! I hate that this software is only on the iPad. I used a Wacom tablet but I have to be connected to a laptop. It's really inconvenient. Looks like I'll be investing in an iPad Pro in the near future. Great video bro!
This is a great video and I wish it was around when I got my iPad but If you are using an android tablet you can use Infinite Painter exactly the same way. I use it on my Note 10 when I'm not near my iPad to draw up stencils.
you could do this faster with an app like adobe illustrator or similar app... it will auto convert any image in to a line drawing SVG that you could use as a stencil great art nice job video!
Use to work in a shop in like 2016, wasn't a fan of the surroundings bad neighborhood plus I felt the shop itself and some of the people working there were kinda dirty about there stations and that was enough for me to leave maybe 1 day I can work alone or open up a studio. I would do alot better not having to worry about other people and my things being stolen or contaminated. But there is so much more stuff that I've been learning about that would up my game so much. I started using coils and recently bought a cheaper rotary pen just to see if I would like it. Practice some with it. I wasn't about to drop 800 bucks on something I wasn't positive about but I can say I get why so many people are going to taht or using them.I would like to get the bishop wand at least the shader and liner that would increase my game so much. It's all super expensive tho so maybe down the line if I get lucky lol.
How did u record the whole process that you went through did u use screen record or..? I really want to know how if it doesn’t take up much of ur time thanks again and I loved the video
I'm going to download procreate on my iPad today and try to create a couple stencils. Help up my stencil game. Im like you, I like to hand stencil. Thanks for this vid brotha!
Really nice work, can you tell me what equipment your using to record such clear quality videos. iPhone, or DSLR camera?/ ring light/ tripod / lighting? Editing app/ programsThank you
Your 6b pencil looks a little more solid. I think I’m missing something more in the updated version of procreate. My pencil still looks a little gritty after changing what you recommended in the video.
You covering it all man ..always great content hope this channel grows to the millions one day..I will be right here here with you no matter how good I get💯💯💯
Great video!! Do you use the purple color when you put it through the stencil machine? Just wondering if somewhere in your process you turn the purple to black for the stencil machine or if purple works fine? Thank you for your time
its nice.. but you should try an eco tank printer and put some inkjet ink in it.. and just print the niciest stencil you ever seen in your entire life.. if you like detail stencils.. you will fall in love with those printers
Do you ever experience your stencil printer having trouble copying the stencil onto the transfer paper ? If so , how do you cope with that? Thanks for the greatness as always
I got the iPad Pro 12.9 last month and am loving it! The very first app. That I purchased was Procreate and for those who don't know, it's an essential! So much easier than the Adobe stuff too😃! Thank you for going through the motions on the iPad Pro, you have shown me a different method of attack and I appreciate it. It's helpful to have someone show me a better process, rather than viewing countless hours of bullshit video regarding the use of Procreate. Thank you again Oliver. -MARK C STEELE
Does the purple work when it comes to printing the stencil out as I have always done my linework in black incase the printer doesn't pick up the lines when transferring over to stencil paper. The question is for using a transfer printer or a thermal printer

Dude you just made thousands of artists up their game from this. That's nice of you to show fellow people how these types of things work.

I'm on my mom's youtube.. but thank you sooooo much. I've done tattoos for over ten years and many don't share their secrets. Salute

Awesome, thanks for the tips and for the app.
Like the tutorial. 💯 👍👍👍
@oliver ayre Thank you so much for this video. Question: How do you upload someone’s body part that you’ll be tattooing to see the fit?
you could do this faster with an app like adobe illustrator or similar app... it will auto convert any image in to a line drawing SVG that you could use as a stencil
great art nice job video!
Is it user friendly or something extremely hard to use?
You may have just inspired me to step my game up. Thank you for this video. I wish u success in everything you do. 👍🏾🙏🏾
Awesome! What iPad are you using by the way?
Hands down, your tutorials are the best on youtube 🙏

amazing brother your art and The talent is way out of this world keep up the good work Thumbs Up
Finally the video ive been waiting for!
Yay! Thank you so much for your informative video!
Great stuff mate. For others that don’t have an iPad, u can download the Autodesk Sketchbook and u should be able to do a similar process I believe
Or adobe draw it’s a similar app but it don’t use pixels it’s better for most stuff and it’s free, procreate is good for it’s features though
Nice brother..thanks for all the help
beyond helpful dude,, thank you sm 🙏
Really nice work, can you tell me what equipment your using to record such clear quality videos. iPhone, or DSLR camera?/ ring light/ tripod / lighting? Editing app/ programsThank you
Amazing video well needed information thank-you Oliver
Whenever I move the taper lines like you did I still get the graininess. It’s still like a sketch pencil.
Your 6b pencil looks a little more solid. I think I’m missing something more in the updated version of procreate. My pencil still looks a little gritty after changing what you recommended in the video.
