I think I like the 2024 set better because it feels like a spiritual successor to the first two battle packs put together. Adjusted for inflation, the two $10 battle packs would be about $15 today so $30 for the 2024 set with both factions feels justified for once.
I think the battlepacks today are a good concept with the clones vs. droids as you get to army build both in one set, but it would be cool to get more sets for the CIS with other droids. Bring some variety for the droids like there is for clones. Commando droids, tactical droids, vulture droids, etc.

I know clones are far more popular but while I respect the argument about the new helmets I find it funny how clones were not nearly done as dirty as the horrific 2019 stormtrooper helmet and yet the clone helmet change is more controversial
After losing passion for lego (after a rough breakup this year), the reveal of the new super battle pack actually made me so excited that I pretty much instantly got pulled right back into lego star wars. I think (for money reasons) I'm still going to try set up a brickllink store and sell off most of my non-star wars lego and limit what I purchase from now on, but this set really re-sparked my love for lego star wars and I've since bought myself the advent calendar and am now awaiting a 2013 AT-TE from ebay. So excited to continue building the clone/ droid armies I've always wanted since being a kid!
I think what many people dont get is that these sets simply arent made to be bought in such masses as people do. They are meant to be bought maybe once or twice but at the end of the day theyre meant to be fun for a kid

The one thing I didn't like about the 50 first battle pack is it seems like there wasn't enough battle droids so you couldn't have a battle as a kid or build a armory.
I'm definitely getting this new set. I'm designing a MOC of a clone base built inside what used to the Geonosis droid factory. The idea I have is that it'll be under siege by the separatists who want their factory back, and i need wayyyy more droids than I currently have

I love these both, A dream Battle Pack of mine is a 15 dollar AT-RT with a 501st clone with a swappable 332nd helmet, a 212th clone, a Coruscant Guard, and a regular white clone.

Personally i'd like to see a super battle pack with rebels and stormtroopers. maybe include some references to the 2008 battle packs. We haven't seen a rebel battle pack for too long so it would be really cool to get some new rebel troopers.
They should have made the Super Battle Droid's right hand more like the hook hand for minifigures, so it still is a clip, but opened at the bottom, not straight ahead, which looks weird for B2s when they in fact curl their hands down to fire.
I'm glad they've made the new battle pack with some regular P2 troopers. I would like to see them return to making normal battle packs again though with some unique collectable characters like the Bounty Hunter battle pack again though as I prefer variety over "army building" potential. That said, if they made a castle theme with battle packs I'd buy the hell out of those.
Personally, I prefer the 2024 battle pack much more than the 501st one. The 501st one IS great and it helped me a lot to get a decently sized 501st Clone army, but at the same time it was also a bit pathetic how it’s 2 droids vs 4 clones, a speeder and a walker. That, and while I think size wise the BARC speeder is pretty good compared with the minifigs (it’s still a smidge too big but not too big tbh), the AT-RT is way too big for minifig scale. Meanwhile the 2024 battle pack has builds for both sides, with the droids having the most substantial build in the set with the Octuptarra Droid (the first set to give a substantial build to the Battle Droids since the 2020 AAT set), the builds themselves were much closer in scale with the minifigs and the minifigs themselves are amazing - the first plain white Phase 2 Clones to appear in set in over a decade and you get three of them, a cheaper way to get the new Shocktrooper, a couple of battle droids and three new Super Battle Droids, the first ones since 2015. That, and since it’s 4 clones vs 5 droids and each side has two builds each, it also just makes it seem like more of a fair fight than 501st battle pack. But that’s just my personal opinion.
I completely agree with everything you said except for the 501st BARC speeder being only slightly too big. The BARC speeder in the 501st battle pack is massively oversized, to the point where it's literally almost scaled to a 3.75-inch action figure, which is NOT good for a vehicle for minifigs.
Now that we have a remake of the super battle droids how long do you think it will take to get commando droids or tactical droids? Or maybe for the first time a super tactical battle droid?
I'm sorry but I think we kind of missed that train if you look at what separatists based sets they have done in the last 5 years or so but those droids were a flesh idea at the time and that's what they used to do back in the good old 2008-2013 days but now they don't even care to make us a new Count Dooku minifigure anymore, even after these 10 long awaited years even if he has an appearance in an newer media or show or what not but it doesn't even matter, you could think one of the main bad guys and the leader of the separatists should get more of respect?

I just noticed that 501st battlepack has red studs for clones, and clones vs droids has blue studs for clones🤯 I'm very attentive to these kind of details on the LEGO sets, so I'm happy to see the right color for good boys. Ps. You can argue that they are blue to oppose the red on droids side, but there was droids in 501st battlepack and on the box art both clones and droids where firing red lasers.

A side from the fact that I prefer droids more, the builds of 2024 really appears better to me; the 2020 ones are just too big to be mini fig scale, despite them looking really cool.
I think the long speeders are just ridiculous, I have the 2 from the Bad Batch’s Marauder. All speeds I have seen in SW are the equivalent of a motorcycle with longer front. Lego however made them into the equivalent of a 2 seater build into a drag racer. I say 2 seater because a lot of Lego SW cockpits are reduced in width from 2 persons to 1 mini figure. Very understandable, but by bulking out the speeders they are as wide as most cockpits. They are like a 1/3 of width and 2/3 of the length of the Marauder, a version of the normal motor cycle would have been more fitting. The Marauder and the 2 speeders is kinda like a dual pack.
You brought up a good point with the cash-grab aspect of the 501st, as time has gone on I feel many people have forgotten that the $30 price tag was greedy and bloated. We were so happy that Lego was making Clones en masse again we blinded ourselves to the game that is capitalism, making them a bundle as we kept it consistently out of stock.

I got 2 of the 501st pack and wish I had the money for more. The thing is you don't need to builds and the pieces are fine. For a lego collector that is. But the figures were perfect. 3 regular troopers. But I need much more regular troopers than I'll ever need 501st. Since 501st is just Anakin's army units. Having the latest pack adds a few extra more elite troopers to the ranks. And the Ahsoka 332nd company trooper pack adds to the ranks as well. What we really need is many more regular troopers. Just to replace what we got with vehicles. Remember you got the fighter tank and the ATTE as well. Both with troops that belong with Mace Windu and Obi-Wan. This new pack is awesome. And you can use those figures to replace those. To free them up for display.
The 2020 501st battlepack is near perfect in my opinion. I think the size of the builds makes them more enjoyable. I would've enjoyed a $5 price increase on the new battle pack with slightly better more accurate builds and no helmet holes. Regs don't wear helmet accessories!
Imaigne if it didn't have helmet holes for a second... Which I would want to army build using this set if they didn't... Then again 3rd party helmets are cheap enough and that is my only issue with this set... But regardless I want atleast 1 as it's a remake of one of my most remebered sets from my childhood.
Hey mandr I made a mod for the new battle pack for the barricade where you take off the slope piece on the front and then remove the 2x1 rounded tile and then attach the barricades together and then adjust the shield for a new and improved way to make a massive barricade
My only issue with this set is that it doesn't include neutral colored helmet attachments. Kinda hate how the only way to currently get them is only in the coruscant gunship at the moment.
Tbh i dont know why people hate the holes in the new helmets they look nearly identical to the old no hole ones but with more customisabity. People are so nitpicky
30$ for a vs set would be a great theme to move forward with. However I hope they don’t skimp out on the build , specifically the clones side. I hope we see this theme for a revamped 212th battlepack with 212th troopers vs crab droid, magna guard and regular droids. Would be legendary
despite the helmet holes, i gotta side with the 2024 set. not only does it include new super battle droids which are cheap and great for army building, it also includes regular clones, which are of course the best clones for army building. not only that but they went and added 2 regular droids, and a coruscant guard trooper? I am 100% stockpiling this.
501st battle pack has no flaws with the clones like helmet holes so to me, it’s subjectively better, I still like both but I’m gonna have to spend a lot to get those helmets replaced
they should do more versus battlepacks. like stormtroopers vs rebels, kashyyk clones vs kashyyk droids, geonosis clones vs geonosis droids or geonosians
I see a lot of potential here, I think there could be an utapau battle pack with 2 212th grunts and 2 212th airborne, and the same selection of battle droids as the new one. The builds would be a crab droid, a STAP in tan, a BARC speeder with orange markings, and a mortar. I would also a macrobinocular attachment and a bag of other accessories
There are just so many possibilities that I’m actually excited for what they may do in the future with this battle pack style. Maybe a kashyyyk battle pack with 2 Wookiee, 2 41st clones and the same amount of droids? Or an empire vs rebels battle pack with 3 stormtroopers, 1 officer, and 3 rebels?
When u mention ‘inflation’ adjusted cost for the 2020 $30 battle pack would make it more like $35, do u mean aftermarket cost (eBay, etc) or its adjusted retail price now?
I do feel that had the new set included a BARC speeder design (IE in the 501'st battle pack and the Bad Batch Shuttle Set.) and maybe a set of handle bars for the gun turret the set would have been perfect.
I think I this is the ultimate battle pack, literally don't care about the helmet holes, I'm happy to see the SBD's return, and all the builds are really cool.
All the stuff you mentioned is definitely a point of interest but here's another thing considering lego has gone back to giving the characters standard blasters instead of going cheap with those terrible stud shooter blasters, it shows in my opinion that lego is trying to appreciate its buyer consumers even though certain aspects such as the terrible looking helmets and how commander fox looks is a unfortunate byproduct of this

Absolutely. The 501st "battle pack" wasn't even a true battle pack. It was mainly a set build with more Clones added then usual to get people to buy it like they would battle pack, but pay more money per figure. Not a bad set, but it was a cash grab that many people fell for.

This upcoming BP i gonna take at least 3 times. Then.. i gonna start to build separatist droid army throught secondary market. I remember as kid i had Hailfire droid set from 2008 i guess and this i found also as Sep Battle pack.
Its interesting because personally, I dont think that the price or “set type” should indicate build quality, but rather using the parameters set for any given set, they should create something of quality that fits. For example, I dont see any reason that the build for the speeders in the Endor Speeder Chase diorama set couldnt be in a battlepack. I think most reviewers equated them to being a $20 value max. Id rather have a variety of figures with one, maybe two quality builds max. Or for this newest set, we got a bunch of half-baked, non canon builds. We couldve gotten one really good crab droid instead. Then not only are you building an army with a bunch of throw away pieces but you also getting a worthwhile addition to your army, whether that army if for an adult collector, or a kid playing. The 501st battlepack is the only battlepack to do this well, as both builds were as good as they could be - and just as MNR showed us, just one of them equates to everything the newest set gave us. EDIT: I do think the recent hoth battle packs also fit the more premium battlepack quality as you could literally add them to a $850 set.
I think it's fair to say that with all the new Republic sets out the ATTE and the gunship for example I think the clones can afford to not get better built in this battle pack I see this battle pack as an absolute win
It's tough to say which I like more because both of them are damn good. I do plan on getting custom printed helmets online for the 2024 set, which isn't a big deal imo.
It is a pretty big deal. You have to go out of your way to make your minifigures look good, to the extent of ordering non-official LEGO replacements. If you're paying for a collectable, you shouldn't have to go out of your way to make it good. It should come like that by default.
I want the next super battle pack to be original trilogy storm troopers versus rebel troopers. But this time I'd rather have bigger builds for each faction, and if they do it right, a $40 price tag wouldn't be unreasonable
I hardly even notice the helmet holes thankfully, and they do not bother me. But I feel bad for the people who are annoyed by it because I know what it’s like to be bothered by a tiny little annoyance that feels avoidable

I think i prefer the more smaller builds than the less bigger builds. It is definitely better for playability if you are just getting one.

We were so happy that Lego was making Clones en masse again we blinded ourselves to the game that is capitalism, making them a bundle as we kept it consistently out of stock.
Yeah but I'm still gonna buy it I remember see the 501st one and saying Holy shit to the price but know I'm so used to it that I don't give a fuck. We need to make these super battle packs at least 25 for what they give. 30 bucks if they throw in more minifigs or builds and 15 for regular ones
I got 2 of the 501st pack and wish I had the money for more. The thing is you don't need to builds and the pieces are fine. For a lego collector that is. But the figures were perfect. 3 regular troopers.
But I need much more regular troopers than I'll ever need 501st. Since 501st is just Anakin's army units. Having the latest pack adds a few extra more elite troopers to the ranks.
And the Ahsoka 332nd company trooper pack adds to the ranks as well.
What we really need is many more regular troopers. Just to replace what we got with vehicles. Remember you got the fighter tank and the ATTE as well. Both with troops that belong with Mace Windu and Obi-Wan. This new pack is awesome. And you can use those figures to replace those. To free them up for display.
The 2020 501st battlepack is near perfect in my opinion. I think the size of the builds makes them more enjoyable. I would've enjoyed a $5 price increase on the new battle pack with slightly better more accurate builds and no helmet holes. Regs don't wear helmet accessories!

Imaigne if it didn't have helmet holes for a second... Which I would want to army build using this set if they didn't... Then again 3rd party helmets are cheap enough and that is my only issue with this set... But regardless I want atleast 1 as it's a remake of one of my most remebered sets from my childhood.

Hey mandr I made a mod for the new battle pack for the barricade where you take off the slope piece on the front and then remove the 2x1 rounded tile and then attach the barricades together and then adjust the shield for a new and improved way to make a massive barricade

I just got my first clones with the helmet holes. They are so small I thought I would mind it more but I don’t. The new battle pack is soooo good.

2024 for value. 2020 for the builds and the quality.
I have to go with 2024 because I love the new octopara droid and super battle droid although I like the 501st clones better than the shock clone
My only issue with this set is that it doesn't include neutral colored helmet attachments. Kinda hate how the only way to currently get them is only in the coruscant gunship at the moment.

Tbh i dont know why people hate the holes in the new helmets they look nearly identical to the old no hole ones but with more customisabity. People are so nitpicky
30$ for a vs set would be a great theme to move forward with. However I hope they don’t skimp out on the build , specifically the clones side. I hope we see this theme for a revamped 212th battlepack with 212th troopers vs crab droid, magna guard and regular droids. Would be legendary

despite the helmet holes, i gotta side with the 2024 set. not only does it include new super battle droids which are cheap and great for army building, it also includes regular clones, which are of course the best clones for army building. not only that but they went and added 2 regular droids, and a coruscant guard trooper? I am 100% stockpiling this.
I think that if there were helmets with no holes on the 2024 clones, it would be a perfect set. Especially for army building for both sides

501st battle pack has no flaws with the clones like helmet holes so to me, it’s subjectively better, I still like both but I’m gonna have to spend a lot to get those helmets replaced
they should do more versus battlepacks. like stormtroopers vs rebels, kashyyk clones vs kashyyk droids, geonosis clones vs geonosis droids or geonosians

I see a lot of potential here, I think there could be an utapau battle pack with 2 212th grunts and 2 212th airborne, and the same selection of battle droids as the new one. The builds would be a crab droid, a STAP in tan, a BARC speeder with orange markings, and a mortar. I would also a macrobinocular attachment and a bag of other accessories
There are just so many possibilities that I’m actually excited for what they may do in the future with this battle pack style. Maybe a kashyyyk battle pack with 2 Wookiee, 2 41st clones and the same amount of droids? Or an empire vs rebels battle pack with 3 stormtroopers, 1 officer, and 3 rebels?

Tbh both of the battle packs are amazing but id rather the 2024 one because I think it would be a great enemy build to go against the 2022 AT-TE

I do feel that had the new set included a BARC speeder design (IE in the 501'st battle pack and the Bad Batch Shuttle Set.) and maybe a set of handle bars for the gun turret the set would have been perfect.
I think I this is the ultimate battle pack, literally don't care about the helmet holes, I'm happy to see the SBD's return, and all the builds are really cool.
All the stuff you mentioned is definitely a point of interest but here's another thing considering lego has gone back to giving the characters standard blasters instead of going cheap with those terrible stud shooter blasters, it shows in my opinion that lego is trying to appreciate its buyer consumers even though certain aspects such as the terrible looking helmets and how commander fox looks is a unfortunate byproduct of this

I honestly bought the set specifically because it had equal power for both the clones and the Droids. I never get battle packs so it was great for me in that sense

Absolutely. The 501st "battle pack" wasn't even a true battle pack. It was mainly a set build with more Clones added then usual to get people to buy it like they would battle pack, but pay more money per figure.
Not a bad set, but it was a cash grab that many people fell for.

2024 Clears in regards to strictly value. So obvious what they tried and did in 2020
This upcoming BP i gonna take at least 3 times. Then.. i gonna start to build separatist droid army throught secondary market. I remember as kid i had Hailfire droid set from 2008 i guess and this i found also as Sep Battle pack.
Its interesting because personally, I dont think that the price or “set type” should indicate build quality, but rather using the parameters set for any given set, they should create something of quality that fits.
For example, I dont see any reason that the build for the speeders in the Endor Speeder Chase diorama set couldnt be in a battlepack. I think most reviewers equated them to being a $20 value max. Id rather have a variety of figures with one, maybe two quality builds max. Or for this newest set, we got a bunch of half-baked, non canon builds. We couldve gotten one really good crab droid instead. Then not only are you building an army with a bunch of throw away pieces but you also getting a worthwhile addition to your army, whether that army if for an adult collector, or a kid playing.
The 501st battlepack is the only battlepack to do this well, as both builds were as good as they could be - and just as MNR showed us, just one of them equates to everything the newest set gave us.
EDIT: I do think the recent hoth battle packs also fit the more premium battlepack quality as you could literally add them to a $850 set.

I think it's fair to say that with all the new Republic sets out the ATTE and the gunship for example I think the clones can afford to not get better built in this battle pack I see this battle pack as an absolute win
It's tough to say which I like more because both of them are damn good. I do plan on getting custom printed helmets online for the 2024 set, which isn't a big deal imo.
It is a pretty big deal. You have to go out of your way to make your minifigures look good, to the extent of ordering non-official LEGO replacements.
If you're paying for a collectable, you shouldn't have to go out of your way to make it good. It should come like that by default.

I want the next super battle pack to be original trilogy storm troopers versus rebel troopers. But this time I'd rather have bigger builds for each faction, and if they do it right, a $40 price tag wouldn't be unreasonable

I hardly even notice the helmet holes thankfully, and they do not bother me. But I feel bad for the people who are annoyed by it because I know what it’s like to be bothered by a tiny little annoyance that feels avoidable
