===Description=== Super Sprint (known as Sprint Master on the Atari 2600)[1] is a racing video game released by Atari Games and Midway Games in 1986. Up to three players drive Formula One-like cars on a circuit that is viewed from above.[2] The game is a successor to Gran Trak 10 and the Sprint series, which were black-and-white games from the 1970s. A sequel, Championship Sprint, was released later in the same year. Words cannot express my adoration for that reverberating trumpet flourish that plays when you pick up a wrench. It's such a beautifully uncanny sound. They could've just used a "ding!" or something similar... but no! They dared to go a little weird.
I cannot express how satisfying this was to watch. This game was so punishingly difficult that even when doing it as a TAS there were times you barely beat the computer drivers, sometimes they even had a higher fastest lap time. It was incredible to watch the computer drivers which I have long believed "cheat" get their ass handed to them time and time again.
Considering that it is TAS, I would like to praise the video for its wonderful content. At the time, I was a high school student in rural Japan, and I remember playing the game over 100 times and only reaching the 9th round once. It was an easy setting where can power up by acquiring two spanners, and my score was just over 16,000 points. After a lot of intense concentration, the 8th song, the interval music, was unforgettable (all the songs in this game are great). In the spring of 2024, 38 years later, I met again and played at an GE-SEN(arcade) in Akihabara, Tokyo. As a result, the game was over in the third round. Now, I'm nowhere near as good as I was back then, and my hair is gray, but I remember the excitement of those days like it was yesterday. With love to Atari from Japan.
Man... I never thought I'd be saying this about a TAS, especially one of yours, but this is *really* damn hard to get through. Super Sprint came from Atari's "post-vintage" period (the crash to around 1990), where it seemed like every other game seem designed to make you to want to stop playing it. I'll just give a list: Powerups grossly underpowered, tires have the traction of hot butter, virtually impossible to take sensible lines, too-perfect AI, aggravating nonsense like jumps, obstructed sections, and randomly opening gates, and of course you're constantly slamming into walls and hitting obstacles and crashing. The most I'd ever seen anyone make it was 1 top speed, 1 acceleration. I wasn't even aware that it looped; it just seemed to more random crap at us until we had enough, which rarely took long. Old game videos are great glimpse into the past, but sometimes their greatest benefit is showing us why they belong in the past. Anyway, thanks for showing us what we were missing. As soon as I actually reach the end of this, I'm sure I'll appreciate it. 🙂 Ooh, ooh, do Hot Rod next!
Wikipedia says "There are eight circuits in total, but the game only ends if gamers can get to race 85 where the bonus Super Speedway circuit is played" You just stopped at 50. Is that where the game ends? Does it just keep going? Is the lap 85 and then " bonus Super Speedway circuit" just bull💩?"

Too bad, for the 2600 OR 7800, it could've been compatible with driving controllers like Indy 500 (Race).

Atari is a hell of a drug

I love your sense of humour within the game. The learning curve was massive on this game.

Love the double loop 5:24
I have seen a car with all the upgrades and gotten the “Increase Score” item. Now my curiosity is finally fulfilled.
The sound of this game takes me back to the late 80s arcade.
Wow I haven't seen this in decades yet I still remember the music and early courses. So many quarters spent playing this game. :-o
Music in this game was just supreme out of the arcade unit!
You are insane bro! Congrats. Nice video and superb gameplay.
Google what a 'TAS' is lol
I love how towards the end he's just playing with them. LOL
Great Game on the Atari ST! Thx for bringing back these Memories!
The driver is sublimely in the zone! Total ultra instinct!
This game is pure concentration and wheel skill
I'm hoping to stream this game one day and prove that there is no Super Speedway after Race 85 despite what Wikipedia says.
Wel, now I understand why i could never get past the third track :)
I could never get the hang of top-down racers like this game
Great work as always! What loop do you believe the AI got to its highest level?
God, Ioved this game
Miss this game. Would have quarters lines up for next!

I stopped at 50 because I was sure there was nothing more to see. But now I have to get to race 85. Thanks.
