Just wanted to say that I really love your theme Kara and Nate. Enjoying long term traveling on a budget but also taking advantage of luxury perks. All while tasting the local food and hotel food! It's pretty much exactly my husband and I travel (early 30s). Your channel is so fun to check up on everyday and I just love seeing your travel plans. I hope your channel doesn't change! I think as you get more popular you'll be getting more free/luxury offers which is awesome, but I hope y'all keep the theme the same :) can't wait to see what's to come!
Hey sara No , there is no need for you to feel stupid for not knowing Mauritius before, you can still add it to you travel list. :) Mauritius is a wonderful little island where there is a lot to see and it is not because i am Mauritian that I am saying so, it is true. What you have seen in Kara and Nate’s video is only one part of Mauritius, the island is also a melting pot of cultures. Mauritius includes people of different ethnicity which is the reason why Kara and Nate had the opportunity to taste various street foods. Mauritius is also a place where people from different religions live together, there are two popular religious place that you can visit which include Cap Malheureux church and the Ganga Talao also known as Grand Bassin Temple. Moreover, there are a lot of historical places that you can visit which include le Morne Brabant and The Apravasi Ghat which have both been certified world heritage sites. For leisure, there is also a lot of things that you can do such as swimming with dolphins, parasailing, skydiving and you can also go for a safari at the Casela Nature park I hope that you will enjoy your vacation if you visit the island one day :)
I like that you guys still showed footage of you getting lost and going to macdonalds. Very true to real life, unlike all the expert travel vloggers. I liked your happy go lucky vibe too.
OMG!!! Just came across this video as I was craving food from my beautiful country and 4:50 into the video I see my brother in the background!!! He works in Grand Bay and "Ti couloir" is his favorite place to eat"bouillon boulette". How random was that?!
Beautiful Mauritius! I can't believe that anybody could give a "thumbs down" to anything regarding Mauritius. I guess some people are just ignorant, unappreciative, picky & very hard to please. I love all your uploads guys! Unfort, i cannot find your vlog, where you guys ate a lovely lunch, at that big house with so many doors. Cheers Kate & Nate, from Dingle Peninsula, Eire.
Love this! Next to Mauritius there is a French Island called Reunion Island, you guys would love it for the food and the sports activities :) So happy to see bouchons ("dumplings") and samousas, and all the street food things in your videos, I miss it!
I am still trying to catch up on all of your recent videos I let you upload a lot of them before watching them lol. I want to binge watch them now thanks. I mean I didn't let you upload them what am I saying lol.
Love all your videos for real! Makes me wanna travel a lot.. only thing is I wish you two would put all the parts of the vlogs for one trip in the descriptions below. Because it’s hard to watch the videos from part 1-3 or however many in the trips in sequence. That is legit the only thing!! You two are amazing though! Keep up the great work!
I love this vlog on grand baie Mauritius. You both give a realistic insight into Mauritian culture the people and food. My fiancé and I are getting married at ocean villas in September this year :).
Nate: that is such a good idea that you have while ordering foreign food; when they ask you what you want, you just say "your favorite." I'm going to start doing that!
love that u guys make the best of a bad day, we truly believe food is always the cure ! great vid, enjoyed your off the vid grid vlog can easily relate to these situations well played!!! ~Brendan
You were near my place... Right upfront of La Rougaille Creole. And that place you had the mixture of everything for your lunch is one of the best street food eating place.
Brings back memories!!!! I remember visiting that same you asked for samosas! I can't explain how amazing that chilli sauce is. Worth visiting Mauritius just for that alone. They have it everywhere. I tried to buy some to take back to the UK but it was no where near as good as the street venders version. Does anyone know how it's made?
i must say that you`ve been pretty lucky to be here in Mauritius , hope you loved the little island and hope to see you soon :) and its a lovely video ;)
Very nice too see this video! am from Grand-Baie,Mauritius and I know the all vendors and food outlets shown in the video. Ti Couloir is indeed the best place to eat "boullet".Its delicious! :D
I'm from UK but lived in Mauritius for work. For the best food, go out of the tourist areas! I was lucky enough to live near Dewa & Sons in Rose Hill for the best dholl puri on the island.
I was about to yell "locked phone" before I saw your explanation. That's part of the deal when companies sell phones at a reduced price in tandem with a contracted calling plan. Here is my practical advice on changing a SIM card. Lacking an earring with a thin post, I have removed the staple from a disposable magazine (the ones on airplanes come to mind) and bent it into a tool to open the SIM holder.
The Sandwich is called Kebab or Shawarma. You can have them in London from those Indian street shops. I doubt they will taste the same though. Dhall Puri and roti are the most famous street food over here. I think they still sell dhall puri in Tooting Market. You can surely find some Mauritian food in Tooting Market.
This place is so similar to trinidad and tobago, the culture in trinidad is a mixture of Indian african serian and Chinese, the street food has similar names just served differently and the beaches are similar to tobago, the island is amazing.
It’s looks great place to be, I want to sail by sailboat, I can do I am sailing alone around the world and I have it plan to this beautiful island. Many thanks guys for the video it’s so super awesome . It was well done video in details thanks.
I always make sure I have a phone that is unlocked or buy one in country when travelling. if you call before you leave the states most carriers will walk you through the unlocking process of you mobile phone. my advise is to have a "cheap" phone for travel because more expensive phone seem to be a favorite of pickpockets. In my experience it's pretty economical and smart to have a sim I country, especially if your exporing the local area. Cheers.
After 10 seconds of this video.. I've added Mauritius to my travel list ☀

Man, you're having such a good time! The food in Mauricious seems very, very delicious.

"SIM not supported" might be because your phone is carrier lock, therefor you can not use any other carrier until your carrier unlocks it.
