It's really nice to see the Mauritian traditional food portrayed there with the "Roche carri". this makes me proud to be Mauritian. We have so many things that are so unique.
I feel people need to visit these places now even more (post pandemic). I love re-watching these episodes. Actually learning about different cultures even if it is through food.
Sitting down to watch a bunch of Kara and Nate videos. Cup of coffee? Check. Some food to munch on like sticky rice or noodles? Check. Okay I’m ready to start watching!
I've recently decided to go back to the beginning and watch everything again lol. I've been eating so much more diverse foods the past couple weeks because of their videos!
I'm Mauritian and currently studying abroad, and your video made me miss Mauritius soooo bad! I wanna go back home! So happy you enjoyed your trip there!
Oh you guys are leaving today!! Thank you for promoting my island so beautifully and really happy you enjoyed your stay here. Have a safe trip back 😃✌️
Wow!!!! amazing looking food and resorts. I love the fact that y'all make it a point to search out Street food.... Mauritius is now a big bucket list location... love you guys..
looked a fantastic meal and to cook it in an old fashioned kitchen with no modern appliances over charcoal must have made it extra special! ...and no Nate it's just not a Kara thing I've often wanted to do exactly that! 😊
Mark, i live in iReland & all my Maternal Irish ancestors cooked exactly like this, but with a slight difference. They also had the open fire place going & they'd hang the cast iron pot over the fire @ varying heights, to cook the food. My Uncle Aemonn, he still cooks this way to this day & i really love the old fashioned way of life. Everything's too modern these days & sometimes, it's just nice to go back to basics. :-)
From iReland with love. The best Mauritius upload Kate & Nate! I really love Mauritius & the Mauritian food. Looks so yummy & what i have tried so far, is so good. Delicious Mauritius! :-) I really love the old fashioned kitchen & appliances, not to mention the French accents there too! Amazin!!
Kate, when i travel, i always get a tummy upset, especially in NW Europe & Asia. I did get bad food poisoning in Scotland, back in early 2000, so too, my gf. I don't think you had actual food poisoning, but more so a tummy upset with getting used to certain ingredients. The Mauritian people are very clean & the way they wash, handle & prepare their food is very good, from what i saw, many times over whilst there.
I totally feel ya Kara! When I get something I love so much I never wanna stop lol. And love when I have leftovers of it and then cant wait to eat them again.
I felt so happy to watch you guys, so enjoying your time & the cuisine in Mauritius. I have to admit, it didn't really surprise me, because i hear great comments about Mauritian cuisine all the time! It's one of the big advantages, when travelling to this wee Island. Just as a point of interest. The annual chefs convention is held in Mauritius annually & some of the world's best chefs fly in from around the world. Apparently, they get to cook & sample some of the world's very best cuisine. You guys are wonderful, so appreciative of other cultures & so upbeat! Keep posting, as we're all enjoying your video uploads! I can't wait to return to my homeland, for a well yearned for visit. :-)
You guys got one over Mark Wiens as he hasn't been there.! There are some hidden gems you still have to see. Glad you both enjoyed your time over there. All the best
You're not alone. I'm the same way with eating, especially eating a really good meal. I try to will my stomach to be bigger just so I can keep putting the yummy food in my mouth. That meal looked so good, especially the coconut chutney.
Four plus years down the road. Food that tastes so good you don't want to stop eating but you're so full you can barely move. Its not just a Kara thing.
Wow, we have the same style of grinding stone in Central America. They are made of volcanic rock. We have this in common besides some of the ingredients. Thanks for sharing this video.
No Kara! You aren’t the only one that feels that they want to keep eating cause it’s soooooo yummy and you want it to never end regardless if your belly will pop if you do 😜😳☺️🙏🏼
I feel the way Kara described on one day--Thanksgiving. That's the 1 day I live to eat. The other 364 days, I eat to live. For all you eat, it's amazing you're both not 300 lbs. You impress me! : )))
Hey Kara and Nate! Will you guys be stopping over to the UK on your travels?! Just imagine itd be great to see yous. Though our food isn't as interesting as some of the food you've tried on your travels! 💓
Yes Voxy. I was born in Beau-Bassin & just like you, i'm very proud to be Mauritian. I've been an Australian citizen for many, many years though, bec i came to Australia as a toddler. I've only ever been back to Mauritius twice in all those years, so i am well overdue for a holiday there. My husband & i, would love to go there later this year & i will surely be visiting Eureka House. I remember very vividly, all the amazing resorts, beaches, people & of course, the amazing food!!! haha Some of the things i've eaten on that small Island, i've never had elsewhere & i've been to a number of different countries. The seafood is mind blowing, not to mention the texture/flavours of the homemade Italian ice-cream, prepared primarily for tourists. I could go on & on & on, but i won't! haha

Agreed about more likely upset stomach from food not used to, as people don't generally get "a little case of food poisoning" for 1 day.
I totally feel ya Kara! When I get something I love so much I never wanna stop lol. And love when I have leftovers of it and then cant wait to eat them again.
Eureka...I found your channel :) Mauritius meal looks yummy!!! Have fun and keep vlogging...
