Just bought a set of these yesterday after playing the Mizuno T-Zoid Pro's from 1999 all these yrs. During fitting the stats were exactly what you saw on the course. I am eager to get on the course and see how I and they perform. My purpose moving to these is to gain some distance and forgiveness since I am older and not as limber as I used to be. Hehe! After watching this video, I am confident I made the right purchase.
hey reply to me some point...i Currently play with 1999 mizuno T-Zoid Comps lol! Its taken everything in me to focus on being able to have a good swing first with these figuring if i cant master these older clubs newer tech will just influence bad habits with better results instead of being able to pure these old clubs and THAN pick up something new for a better reward overall...thoughts?
@@DayzahVoo Back in '99 when I purchased the T-Zoids it drastically improved my game. The was a learning curve with my swing though. Around 2004 I stopped playing till last yr. 20 yrs and 60lbs of weight changed this old mans swing. Not as flexible or young.......I am doing ok, but I just couldn't get to the 80's like I used to play. Decided to take advantage of technology today and get fitted to see if I needed to change shafts, etc. I hope to play these new Hot metals this weekend. Wish me luck!
@@DayzahVoo Finally got to walk 9 holes Tuesday evening. My first hit into the green was 10 yds long lazer. second hole was par 3 that I threw a dart with an 8 iron. To say I am loving these new hot metals would be an understatement. Gained distance, feel and forgiveness. I am happy I made the right choice!
I have a set on order, originally I wanted the 245 but the additional forgiveness of the 925 clinched it for me in the end. I went for the steelfibre shaft which was expensive at £50 uplift per club. Bracing myslef to see what impact the new clubs have on the course!
Gabe thanks for the review. I play JPX923 HM Pro’s and love them. I was concerned after playing more traditional lofts in the previous set of JPX800 Pro Forged irons. My concern was dispersion since the stronger lofts with the 923’s. No problem but did gain distance and they are as they say Hot off the face. Absolutely love Mizuno irons.
I bought this set two days ago after watching your review and I’m sooooo glad I did. I was playing Mizuno mp20 blades and they were just too unforgiving for me….. these are perfect for me
One thing I really liked about the Ping G430 is how they were able to make it appear to be a much smaller clubhead in the address position. Don't know how they did it but so many of the newer clubs I could actually see the cavity back at address which turned me off instantly. It's why I chose the Callaway Apex 21s. I can't wait to try these out to see how they stack up.
Good morning Gabe. I would imagine that it would be pretty easy to put the HM Pro's in the shorter irons and then the HM in the irons where you start to see a lack of sufficient flight. You're going to need 4 conventional wedges with these irons, with a 42 degree set wedge.
I have the HMP 923s, and I custom-ordered them since I knew my specs. I got mine 2 degrees week, so my 7-iron is 30 and my PW is 44 and my GW is 50. I play a 54 and 58 degree wedge, so 5i - GW worked really good for me. Honestly, I don't see any new sets from any manufacturer where you aren't going to have a PW and at least 3 other wedges unless you are going purely blades. I am not good enough for that, and now just conside the GW to be normal in a set.
@@jasonvandyke8142I'd have to say a gap wedge has been required for the past 10-15 years. Ever since they went stronger than 48° loft on a pitching wedge.
My Mizuno 921 hot metal pro's are easily the best clubs I've ever owned forgiveness-wise. If you are due for a new set I think these 925's should definitely be on your list to try out.
BTW, you played some really nice golf. Seems to me that there would be no reason to go with the regular HM unless a bigger clubhead inspires more confidence. Although the HM Pro performs really well I still can't get over that badge on the back that cheapens it IMHO. Any chance you'll be reviewing the new Callaway Apex Ti Fusion? That club looks soooo good.
I agree, the white badging is really in poor taste. And I do not see any reason to get the regular hot metals either. There’s no performance advantage that I could see. All upside with Pros here. Yes I’d love to check out those Callaway.
For what it's worth all the reviews I've seen say the 923 and 925's are virtually identical other than cosmetics. Brand new sets of the 923's are still available at substantial discounts.
Thanks for the review. These look less "pro" compared to prior year models. Much more HM look than prior version HMP. And the different badging colors will look goofy if someone blends sets IMO. 919 version I played had less jacked lofts. HM and HMP isn't Mizzy Forged so went back to those in 923 Forged version.
I would have to play them. I struggled with poor contact today. Fats and thins. That is not the iron’s fault. But I did hit a new Taylormade Mini Driver. Stiff shaft and 11.5°. Factory shaft. Hit it on three different holes. All three times I hit it down the left side of the fairway. I have to try it in the higher loft and regular flex.
Dang, all these new jacked loft irons. When will it ever end? Someday our iron sets will be a bag full of strong and stronger wedges. I can see it now; “Whatya hittin on this long par 3”? “Driving wedge”
Gabe - how would you compare these to the previous 923s? I certainly don't have any desire to upgrade, but if somebody was in the market would you recommend the new ones or trying to save a little cash and buy the previous model? All the things you are saying about these are what I also feel I got in the 923s.
Your buddy James Robinson from across the pond did a review the other day. I always thought that mizuno and titlest were for the better players!! They look amazing!!
The past decade they have gone more forgiving. Titleist AP lines (2008), Mizuno HM/HMP lines. 3-4 hcp here and played 919 HMP up until this year. Went back to forged 923 Mizuno.
Gabe how would you rate these vs the titleist t200 and the taylormade p790 in performance and forgiveness. Height. Distance. Feel. Also whatshaft you played in them. What is your 7 iron swing speed. Im around 83-85.
Ok you’re just cruel now showing off these irons lol. I know I said yesterday I probably won’t buy new irons for a couple more years, however I might just try and buy these ones out! Well done Gabe. I’m assuming tomorrow you’ll be showing off the Mizuno player irons off?😈
@@LetsPlayThru it’s all good brother. I really enjoy your content and I wish there was a way you could get a slice of the pie from people who buy these irons! I’m definitely intrigued in these irons now. Do you know when they will release to the public?

The 923 pros look so much cleaner IMO.
I don't like this look. I had the 919 HMP before they went crazy on lofts. Not a fan there either. 42* PW?
Totally agree. The shape of the 925 HMPs look chunkier than the 923 HMPs.

Going to be some tough competition on your favorite iron this year. Hoping you get to test the new PXG irons.

Thanks Seth. On a good run, the handicap is dropping a bit 😀
Looks good Gabe! I am not in the market for new clubs, I like my PXG’s 0211xcor2’s feel and distance are just fine. Thanks
Thanks Richard
I already bought my set of Dynapower forged irons so I made my choice, but there are some fantastic sets out there for people like me.
I love those clubs. You won’t find anything better in the category.

You have to platy by lofts not whatever. Number is stamped on the sole. That number doesn't matter one bit.

“Driving wedge”
@@ryanu3708 you ain't lying. I think Ping is the only manufacturer at least offering "retro" lofts which are still on the strong side.
I'm totally here for the "driving wedge"!
My forged Wilson staff’s are the opposite, I’ve never had the long game so I went forgiveness and feel and haven’t regretted it once

These are funky looking compared to last gen. Made them look more game improvement
I agree. Not quite as sleek.
@@LetsPlayThru I’m sure they’re still great clubs. they are in fact game improvement after all, even with the “Pro” designation.
What is your go to irons over all Maltby?
Think you need to be Lower Mid Handicap to use these clubs. 15 Handicap or Higher think the regular version would be a better fit..
Honestly I think these are just as forgiving as the others. I see no real downside to these ones even for higher handicaps.
Wondering why you would play with anything else?
I had the 921 H/M pro and wish I hadn’t moved away from them.
What shaft did you test the HMP with?

Those are a different category of club really. These are going to be longer and straighter and feel will not be as good. About 82mph
I wish we would transition to the degrees stamped on the bottom not the club number. I dream of a chance at clubs like these one day.
Any update on the LPT putter? I filled out the form but no response yet. Thanks Gabe.
