What paint sprayer did you use
I used this sprayer ua-cam.com/video/wA17PvY5Uqs/v-deo.html the link is in the description of that video.
Wife loved the coffee table and end table and wants me to build it for her wish me luck. Plus I figure I can take pictures of them staged in the house for the start of my portfolio what do you think
I wish ya still made this kind of video
Definitely not a builder UA-cam channel anymore. But like most, they go where the moneys at and I understand you got to pay bills. That’s America for ya🤷🏻♂️
Would anyone happen to have a list of all the cuts made for this piece?
I was needing the same lol
Are these plans available to purchase in your store?
I am making it, just bigger, and thinner
Thanks for sharing, I like you use basic tools, for shure I will build it, greetings from México ;)
You are welcome!
Loved your table and easy to follow instructions. I made one modification to use two x’s on each end (one for each shelf). Couldn’t be happier with results. Thanks for the clarity of directions that even a novice woodworker could follow.
Awesome. I’m glad the video helped!
That pre-stain is my secret weapon. 👍🏻 Makes a world of difference. How are ya liking the planer?
Yes it does. Love the planer. It sure makes life easier
19 and 52 are the angles based on other dimensions. For each triangle you would have 2 19 degree totaling 38 and 1 52 for a total of 90 degrees for each triangle. Hope this helps. It eliminated that tiny bit of gapping he had on the ends
Nice. Thank you
Your craftsmanship is professional and excellent. The tables look better than many in high retail stores. The choices of color are very good. Thank you for giving me some more creative ideas. Wonderful video!💯❤❤❤
Thank you for the kind words!
one recommendation, as you are cutting the boards for the top where you are going to use the z clips, I wished I had ran it through the table saw, to create the groove the z clips fit into. I found router was to tall after the fact and I don't have a biscuit joiner.
What size brad nails are you using? This will be my next project. you are exactly right, it's a very nice piece.
Thanks. I believe they are 1 1/4” if I remember right.
Thanks a lot for the vid brother, great detail! Really appreciate your UA-cam channel, you’ve been a big inspiration for my furniture making business.
How did you cut the table top slot? Did I just miss thet?
Cut them with a 1/8" straight bit like I did here ua-cam.com/video/Hvi_ZzinvC0/v-deo.html
I have a hard time determining what size screws to use when drilling pocket holes. Do you mind sharing that info in your future videos just for reference?
Great work I love the video and everything you explained. I’m looking to build my own coffee bar and this video will be my go to for information! Thank you sir and keep up the good work! You do phenomenal work!
Awesome work!! Love it. I am building a console like yours for my entry, thanks for your video it really helps! What's the clear coat you use for the finish? Thanks!!
Thank you. I use General Finishes Arm-R-Seal: www.amazon.com/General-Finishes-Seal-Coat-Satin/dp/B00ANLI382/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1543162985&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=General+Finishes+Arm+R+Seal+Top+Coat&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=731woodworks-20&linkId=deceb5aabd48c22e8072ee596e77c751&language=en_US (affiliate link)
Im looking for something similar but with doors to cover the shelves
Thus will work perfect for my arcade game I asked you about!
Do the half lap, you can do it, and it will be rewarding for you. Just set the depth on you're chop saw.
cant see if you have plans for this one on your website, definitely want a set to go with my table and bench please. Might also try and make a console table like this but in the sides looking more like the table and bench so it all fits together. The console table could go up against a wall or something...
What type of nails did you use and what was the size of them?
Also what type of glue did you use?
I used 18 gauge, 1.5” brad nails on the X braces. Wood glue is titebond, I linked to it in the description of this video. Hope that helps.
Why use the clips to secure the top? Couldn't you drive a few 2 1/4 screws up from the bottom?
It's not recommended due to natural wood movement. If you screw it on, wood can't freely expand/contract and may split
don't look at the top left I said don't look why are you looking I kept it out of most shots the best I could stop looking!!!
I used some of your desighn and done a little modification to it and made my own thanks for the ideas though and dimensions
Hey Matt. New sub here, Congrats on the latest bump in subs. I've been enjoying going through your back log of content. Hope you don't mind me asking but how do the flush mount shelves hold up to seasonal wood movement? i didn't know if the frame would help keep it from moving to much or if the wood was stress the joints to the point of cracks forming. Generally curious no disrespect intended, i know some people are a bit uppity about the wood movement topic. Thanks man great content keep it up.
Hello! I haven't had any issues with any of the items I've made. Some are 3 years old at this point. I've made several of these tables. I think one thing that helps is I'm using 1 by spruce wood on the shelves and not yellow pine. Hope that helps.
@@731Woodworks Thanks for the fast response man. oh and btw if 731 means what i think it means, greetings from your states hat. All the best sir.
This is not a critique, it is maybe a preference because I have some weird quirks I love how it turned out but I would have lowered the middle shelf so it is centered on the X. However very beautiful pieces and I picked up a tip with the urethane sealer so thank you.
Thank you
When placing the shelf in I might have cut a couple 3/4x3/4 cleats and screwed them to the frame. This way you could set the shelf on top of them and not had to drill pocket holes and cut the shelf so dead balls precise.
I'll bet if you made a sled for your table saw that cutting half laps would take less time or close to the same amount of time but have a cleaner joint.
It would be good to stress to people not to make things that go inside a home or near food or children not to use Pressure Treated Lumber with the chemicals that leech out from it.
Good ideas, thanks.
what kind of wood did you use?
Common yellow pine
Hello, will you provide the cut list? New to wood working and would like when I go to lumber store.. thank you..
Sorry, I don't have one for this project
Matt, just starting out and watching all your videos for ideas. What is the lumber cut list for this project?
I don’t have that. Sorry.
Do you have a sketch up plan for this or any type of cut list or anything? It would be greatly appreciated :)! Also where did you get that extension for your drill to drive screws in?
Sorry, I don’t. I have a video on the right angle attachment if that’s the one you’re talkin about
Do you have plans for this one on the site, I can't find them?
I’m doing this one tomorrow. I have a handyman business. But I am venturing into the idea of doing this for money. I live in West Virginia and most people love this stuff. I enjoy this. I have made things with the chalk paint and it looked great. Wish me luck with my skills. I love your videos bc ur down to earth like me. I wish u well with videos. Keep it up.
Thank you. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.
So clean and nice ,not sure why I end up here even don’t know how to use those tools lol. Thanks for sharing anyway .i wish I could buy it from you though 🙏🙏👏👏👏
Thank you
About how much is the material cost for one of these..
With the price of lumber up right now, probably around $85-$90. Typically around $50-$60 when prices are lower.
@@731Woodworks okay thanks!
Awesome! Gonna build one similar for the wife for Christmas. Same but different size.
Nice
Just wondering have you had any trouble with the pocket hole as joints? Not talking mess just curious because I’m getting into woodworking and I dont know when to use dowels, biscuits, or pocket holes
Use what you’re comfortable with. I haven’t had any trouble with them
@@731Woodworks hey thanks man and God Bless
This is awesome! Have you eve4 added casters to the console table? I think that would make the table even more versatile.
I haven't done that but it would make a great kitchen cart
Can’t the new generation build anything without pocket joints ?
PJ’s have there place but even fair built furniture isn’t one of them.
Said the new generation machine operator. They’re not WW’s just tool junkies.
Funny, they were using pocket holes in furniture over 100 years ago. ua-cam.com/video/-jW8YynwsDc/v-deo.html
Matt, I plan on building this for my wife this week. I'll post pics when done. I'll be making some dimensional modifications, I'll let you know how it grows. Greetings from Floriduh. 😎
Awesome. Keep me posted for sure
I was looking for this to make a console but I want a taller console.
great video. very clear and straight forward. have you made any bar height tables using a similar pattern?
Yes I have. Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/OU_mFaCbOCg/v-deo.html
What is your favorite wood putty? I've tried several and have not been impressed with the consistency. Looking for a trusted brand. Thanks, Matt! I am also building this exact plan. How much do you sell just the farmhouse console/coffee bar for?
I have tried the half laps multiple times, they are very difficult. especially when all i have at my disposal is a skill saw and a miter saw.... but very nice table!
Thank you. Yes, half laps can be tricky
Great video, awesome table, 👏 I just came across your channel and video these year 2023. I’m a subscriber already so 👍. I want to start some woodwork these year and your video encourage me some more, thanks
Do you put something on top of your stain or paint??
Stain, yes I use water based polyurethane. Paint, no.
But once the stain is dry, do you top it off with something on top of the stain??
Does the top ever feel loose when using z clips? If so do you explain to the customer the reason for the loose top?(or semi-loose/slight movement)
I snug the top down with them so it's not loose.
At 9:45 you show "how you do your exes" ..I definitely need to take advise from this video instead of keep chasing my exes! 😄
Seriously though, I appreciate you taking the time for posting this. A newbie like me can save himself a lot of trouble and frustration by following this video.
what do you use to cut the slots for the z clips?
I noticed I left that out on the video after it was posted. I use a router with a 1/8” straight bit. The router has an edge guide I use to set the distance I need. You can also use a biscuit jointer it would just cut longer slots.
Matt, I am towards the end of making this project. I loved watching you build it as I followed along! What do you usually sell this for? $200 - $250? What did you cost this piece out at?
nice. Still liking that sprayer? Got my homeright fine finish max 2 weeks ago. love it....about to use it more this weekend.
Yes it works very well for what I’m painting. Which is water based paints and finishes.
Great design. Made mine 32x14 on top with a slightly smaller base. Wish I could add the pics
You can share them with me on Facebook or Instagram
Pics are on FB. I think I tagged you.
Apologies if I missed it in the video or some referenced webpage/plans, but what was the rough cost of Lumber for this? Looks great, by the way
Approximately $50 in lumber. Paint, stain, and clear coat will depend on brand and quality. I use higher quality paints and clear coats so my coat is higher.
My 4yo daughter wants to know what is a "Toobatoo", bless her heart.
lol.
Great looking coffee bar design, and nice job with the presentation and instruction.
Thank you
Do you use oil base paint and also what type of primer..any help is appreciated
I’m using water based paint. Sherwin Williams Pro Classic. For the primer I’m using Sherwin Williams quick dry, stain blocking primer.
731 Woodworks thanks for the info sir..btw the quilt ladder is awesome😎👍👍
You’re welcome! Thank you
Hey Matt, thank you for what you do and for sharing your knowledge to help others learn. You have inspired me. I wanted to drop in a photo, but I have no idea how to share. Vicki
I like to use my nail gun to pin joints together when using Kreg screws, or if I am countersinking screws. It helps prevent the screws from "walking" on me- even when clamped. Makes an extra strong joint in my opinion. Love this project, I've sold a few already, and built one for my wife for our house.
Could you explain the purpose of the Stanley level when you are ripping your stock? Thanks
You are jointing the edge of the board
It’s a method to get straight edges so you can join them together with no gaps, if you put the bowed part of a board facing the blade and just shave off a hair then you can flip the board over and shave a straight line and turn a bowed board into a straight board with no rounded edges making it cleaner looking when joining them together, if you dont have a jointer machine this way is super easy and common
When making the shelves and table top. Would you recomend biscuits in the joints, or is that just overkill with the pocket holes?
Love your stuff, Pocket Hole King! ; )
👊🏻
Do you have actual plans for this I could download like with your other builds?
sorry, I don't
What size air compressor are you using to run your spray gun for the painting?
No air compressor needed for this sprayer.
After watching your video I would love to try this. It will be great if you can provide the material link (wood or plywood) used for this project for a beginner.
I just finished one. Thanks for the help. I wish I could show a picture of it.
Great. You can send it on Instagram or Facebook @731woodworks
I need to find out the name
Of the hardware used to secure top. The lil z clips.
They are called table top fasteners
Man! Put some wheels on that thing! 👍🏽
Would be a great kitchen cart
Looks good! Gonna build one soon
Awesome thank you
Love the projects! You have really inspired me to just make something and start learning. Do mind sharing how much you sold that piece for?
Check this video out, ua-cam.com/video/gubAzW8BTW0/v-deo.html
@@731Woodworks Thank you, sir!
What was the length of the 2 by 2 side stretchers ? Thank you
I don't have the cut list, sorry. I only have the video.
Great way to use your level to joint a board. That is how I will be doing it from now on.
It works great
My sister wants the x on the back too. Any suggestions?
I would just make the middle shelf narrower so there is room on the back and then use the same method to make the X for the back. Attach the top of them to the bottom of the table top and attach the bottom of the X to the bottom shelf.
Nice work and good commentary to go with it, thanks for sharing
Thank you
you are freakin awesome i love this so much...my miter saw is to little dang it...i gotta try though thanks so much...new subscriber
Thank you
Best video on farmhouse style table on the internet! I’ll be shamelessly copying each step. Many thanks for inspiring
Awesome table buddy going to attempt this for my first project. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! That's great! Let me know how it turns out! If you have any questions along the way just ask.
Hey Matt it turned out really well! Probably watched this video 20 times now haha. I subscribed and will definitely be doing more of your projects. Just watched your newest tv console table looks great. Thanks for taking the time and filming this God bless @@731Woodworks
@@danielshane6538 I appreciate the kind words. If you wouldn't mind sharing your work, I'd love to see it. @731Woodworks on Instagram and Facebook.
What's your next project?
@@731Woodworks ok i tagged a couple pictures of it @731 woodworks name on Facebook is cory lory. Next project has to be a work bench lol building things on the floor is not fun. Then a farmhouse dining table probably out of pine for my first, then eventually a walnut dining table with breadboards.
@@danielshane6538 Very cool! II will check them out
How did you fill the pocket holes so you dont see the screws
I didn’t fill them.
Plan this table
no plans for this one, sorry
Wath size is the roundbit?
Is this construction 2x4?
Do you let the 2x4s dry for a while before you start building something with them?
What type of lumber do you use of suggest?
I used common yellow pine on this
Gonna make a microwave cart for the kitchen at my work.
Sounds great!
Nice build. I like the use of affordable lumber.
Thanks!
Is there a way we can purchase the furnitures you make?
Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately we do not ship large furniture items. All items we sell are to be picked up locally in Monticello, AR. However, we do offer smaller items for sale in our online store. you can view those here: www.731woodworks.com/store/
i like the thorough explanation, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m thinking of trying this for vinyl storage and putting the record player on the top shelf
How many days or hours does one of these take you to make?
6-8 hours give or take
How do I get the plans for this one specifically? I love it and want one like it in my house
I really like this table. Thinking of making one for our kitchen to hold a small toaster oven. The question I have is why do you use the level on your table saw between the fence and work piece?
The level moves with the board, thereby giving the board a straight edge to reference. If you just use the fence, the edge being cut is referencing the other side of the board. Which is typically never truly straight.
@@731Woodworks I'll give that a try. Do you attached the level to the board or just rest it against the level? If so, double sided tape or ??? Thanks for your reply!!! ~Pat
I don’t tape it anymore. Just rest it
Have you had any problems with expanding on your top using pocket holes?
Just drill a hole a little bigger than the screws you use
No sir I sure haven’t.
What’s the length on the top?
36" if I remember right
Thanks
You’ve certainly come a long way. Congratulations on all your hard work.
Love it!!! Where can we get all the dimensions to your table?
Thank you. Everything I have is said in the video and description. I don’t have plans or a cut list, sorry.
Nice work! This is gorgeous.
cool project...I will try this!
👍🏻
Yes, I do enjoy learning your prices and pricing methods.
Love your videos! I’m getting ready to build a farmhouse style desk for my friend and these videos are super helpful! Quick question... what typed would do you use for the 2x4s? It does that matter too much? Thanks!
I use pine. If you can get good hardwood it is better but for farmhouse style pine works fine
731 Woodworks Thanks so much!
You’re welcome
