DIY Hallway Table with Mortise and Tenon Joinery
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 чер 2024
- I built a walnut hallway table! I’ve made tables in a similar style before so I changed up a few things to make this project even extra fun. I used traditional mortise and tenon joints for the construction. And I made some really cool breadboard ends on the shelf.
The table size is approximately 36” tall x 48” long x 12” deep.

Nice to see someone that isn’t drilling pocket holes.
Even though pocket screws wouldn’t have been seen, a walnut table does indeed deserve mortice and tenon joints. Lovely job.
You have a lot of really good videos you've been made over the years, this is one of my favorites !
That is an awesome table! Love the bread board shelf and the use of tenons, great job man!
Laughed out loud at the keys dropping, but ya had me subscribed with the stop motion: MY KINDA PEOPLE! Thanks for the great production!
Very nice table
wow ! amazing very refined & skillful woodworking!
Thanks!
Great video man👍. Seems like a lot of planning especially for the shelf having two different joints. I am looking for something so similar but for a table that can be taken back apart, shipped, and reassembled by the customer. Obviously I cannot expect them to glue all together with clamps as that is the reason the order from others. Overall learned a lot for a local job. Thanks.
😂 I gave you the thumbs up in the first 15 seconds because that is such an awesome way to start this story.
😂🤣 man that was a great video the first part had me laughing where you dropped the keys on the floor, but arguing with your domino jointer had me rolling in the floor 🤣 👍 awesome build Billy and finish up great and the bell was a nice touch for to finish it off 👌
@@NewtonMakes Years ago I had a Dalmatian that was trained to ring bells to go out. Word of advice...don't train a Dalmatian to ring bells! He would ring them almost constantly, he loved to play with them. Took a bit but got him calmed down and trained to only ring them to go out.
I just cut down a walnut and I have I of 3 logs milled up into 1” by can’t wait until it’s dry enough to make one of these tables.
A truly enjoyable video Billy! Sure glad I never bought one of those mouthy domino machines!! LOL Next time you are going to rout mortises in legs like that, clamp two of them together for a little more stability. All the best my friend.
OK so I’m not the only one that talks to my tools.
Good to know, I was starting to worry.
Very, very funny :) :) :)
that looks lieka very elaborate push stick for something that could be done with about £2of plywood
Table looks great! Really like the bread board shelf. One noob question, on your router table I noticed you taped over the adjustment wheel. Any particular reason?
@@NewtonMakes oh thats good to know! I just assembled the same router table and lift so I’ll be keeping the painters tape near by.
If you are making a smaller table, say 36" x 9", and you use aprons about 3/4" thick and legs 1 3/4" x 1 1/2", can you dispense with a tenon and just inlet the entire width of the apron into a mortise in the leg?
- But I’m quick and easy
- you said it, not me
😂😂😂
I stand by my statement... 😂
You can never have too many clamps
Never!
What is the name of the glue your using in this video?
I don't remember off hand, but it should be listed in the video description.

I don’t exactly get dominoes or biscuits
Can’t you get the same result with dowels. Just use a drill and maybe make a guide. No special equipment and you can make the dowels. The only time I can see a need for the other two is if you were only going to put in one, and who would do that?
