Awesome video! You captured the perfect blend of stunning scenery, wide-open throttle, tight trails, expansive fields, and, most importantly, epic riding. That Yamaha SRX sounds absolutely nasty, , , pure music to the ears!
Highly recommend you schedule your back surgery now. Wont be long before that old yamaha suspension catches up to you. But boy can they make an amazing engine 😂.
I have a couple 98 vmax xtc 700s and they actually arent that bad at all but have more travel etc than the srx. damn things handle like gokarts on the trails too. love them
I've had 2 SRXs. First one was a 98, bought with 1700 mi for 1600$. I test rode it, was a pooch. I told guy something not right with it(I suspected prob fouled plug), told guy to try out my 97 700 Vmax that I clutched, jetted, triple pipes. He rode the Vmax, said holy crap, this thing is a rocket! I told him the SRX should be a little quicker. I wasn't exactly sure what deal was with the SRX, dirty PVs, fouled plug, PV cable pull thru, why got it cheap. I put a new set of plugs in it, put 3500 more mi on it before sold it. Second was a 2000, got it for 900$. only bad thing was seat was torn bad, and skid was in need of attention. I found a beautiful used seat 50mi away for 75$, and did a Polaris XTRA 10 skid conversion, got a great used FOX shock skid for 125$. Very easy install and so much nicer of a ride. Both long gone now :( Current sled is 2010 AC Z1 Turbo Sno Pro.
😊Pull your limiter straps up a hole or close up the gap a little on your transfer rods, will put a bit more weight on the ski's and you will be able to rail around those corners even faster. Bought my 98 700srx brand new, still am able to put 1000miles on each year between my other sleds, and I am still able to walk up right.
loosen the front shock, tighten the limiter strap down and get some 8 inch carbides on the front stud boy shapers work well on the SRX. I thought you were going to smoke that one tree lol. @@MattMcHugh257
@@MattMcHugh257Growlers sound way better , tougher sound . Bender had more of a tinny sound and was trail legal , the rip saw track was the best mod I did , hooked up hard - only lost about 5mph top end , but I spend 90% under 100 then over 100mph even today with the new machines - I rather have it yank hard to 100 anyway .
The SRX was good for the time but lacked in the suspension department, especially the rear. Those Yamaha engines last a ton of miles, fit and finish was excellent. Nothing beats the sound of a triple triple and they have long legs for lake runs.
The family had an XTC from that time frame I remember when they first came out man what a sweet sled, only issue for the was the track had a small lug and I think it wouldn’t hook up well

Great video I have a 2000 srx they ride a little rough but they smoke new sleds no problem the later year srx has 153 hp because of some differences in the porting put a bigger better track on it with a few studs and it’s a rocket ship 🚀
lol I love this comment 😂. They top out at about 120mph on a lake if you have the room. Typical field cruising speed is 60-80 depending on how quick you want to get somewhere.

I want a triple one day, but i heard they are higher maintenance engines that require lots more maintenance than twins, and they are not meant to putt around on they are meant to rip but still sound awesome they kind of sound like a race car

Everyone sets there sleds up for max bite…like this one…and it makes it a crappy trail sled. I always do the opposite…I make it crazy loose…but it ruins it drag racing. But fun and rips through the trails.

Also ive had many many honda machines always took whatvever abuse i could throw at it never understood why honda never got into sled market i think they put out amazing products.
Sounds good but handles like a truck lots of under steer. Maybe to much traction vs ski grab lots ski lift makes sled unstable in trails i remember years back i hade a 98 mach z 800 acted the same as yours had near 200 studs and had so much traction handled like azz in any tight stuff but fun af in the open areas 👍 sunk lots of time into mine got it to handle ok but to much power not enough handling. Once i got a rev she was over still ride a orig rev platform still spank any friend on his new stuff the longer you keep a sled the better she gets not cheap to play tho got over 7k just in engine
