I've always liked his solo and BFF stuff ever since my son introduced me to him last August. Until then I never heard of him or other awesome musicians for that matter. Unfortunately I've only purchased a few albums from Ben Folds Five. However, after listening to this piece I'll definitely take a listen to Hotel Lights... I just can't believe why this they or even Ben isn't all over the radio to begin with...
The three original BFF albums (self-titled, Whatever and Ever Amen, and Reinhold Messner) are all amazing - stuff I enjoyed in high school and college, even though I usually listened to various forms of punk, hip-hop, and metal. Yeah, I know, I'm the champion when it comes to the eclectic taste in music.
Oh man, really? You're in for a treat. If you liked this song in particular, it was written by Darren Jessee of Hotel Lights (he's the drummer for Ben Folds Five as well), and you'll probably dig all the HL stuff. Then there are 3 other Ben Folds Five albums and 4-5 Ben Folds solo albums. Some are better then others, but... yeah, I envy anyone discovering great music for the first time.
One of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long, long time.
Saw them live last night in Tokyo and they played this beautiful, beautiful song. Goosebumps all over. What an amazing night!
What a touching, smart, tender, song (and for grown-ups). I can't stop listening to it.

"He likes Ben Folds and the Jackson 5, knows all the words to STAYIN ALIVE"
Bowed bass...how dreamy. The best power trio with a contradictory name.

Robert Sledge was great before, but he got about 1000x better since the 90's.

WOW, great job by Mr. Sledge on the bass.......
Fantastic
I love Ben Folds. I'd love to hear him branch out into some other sounds though. More experimentation!
"...like a crumbled old empty discarded newports box."
