    Opel have now dropped the price of this car to €38,993 - and the entry level Astra EV is €34,000 would it tempt you now? Comment below!

      Base price for an ID3 is €37,210, so, no would be my answer.

    • @arklowdashcam5155
      @arklowdashcam5155 25 днів тому

      Plus, even at the lower price, it’s competing against the Cupra Born which is priced similarly (€38,695).

      Still a no. Until such time as EVs have decent and achievable ranges in the 600kms region and can charge in 5-10 minutes, I don’t care what they sell them at as my petrol car does what I want it to do, whether that’s a business trip to Cork and back without having to refuel where I can turn on the air con or heating without inducing “range anxiety”. Maybe the technology will be there in five to ten years to make EVs a reasonable choice but as for now, they are a joke…….and the rapidly falling sales figures demonstrate this.

      Honestly not a chance.... When you look at what's on offer for even 34k it's so plain and feature less ... The byd dolphin for one

    The 1.5d model of this is a clever purchase. Someone will still want it in a few years time and it's madly economical with plenty of power for what it is. An electronic version, crap.
    Great review as usual nobby

    You should do an independent video on those lights - they don’t just auto dip/ lower or look up some videos of them they are an amazing system.

    • @NobbyOnCars
      @NobbyOnCars  25 днів тому

      I don’t need to look up a video on them, I’ve used them extensively in cars. The point is you can manually level them, that part is rare - far better than xenon / LED however, agree

    I’m sorry to say I don’t like anything about the look of the car and can only see it selling if it was seriously cheap. 44k is crazy 🤪

    Why don't the make the charging leads retractable from the car seems an easy solution to having stupid cables rattling around your boot and looking for storage for them

    We've entered the double glazing pricing period of cars.... they all basically end up half the initial asking price/RRP. Leafs and E Corsa currently half price pre-registered and the only reason I can see anyone buying this is when it's 22/24k rather than Tesla money

  • @arklowdashcam5155
    @arklowdashcam5155 26 днів тому

    Great review as always Nobby. I totally agree with the pricing. The car has its bad points and good points but if it was €10k less, it would find its own niche in the market.
    I also agree about the lack of more charging points at the location you started out in. It would make so much more sense, not to mention the convenience, to have more chargers available.

      If I was in the market for a new car ..and couldn't charge at home 99% of the time, no way would I buy a full EV.

  • @davidmehlhorn726
    @davidmehlhorn726 25 днів тому

    Just a comment on the “lack of chargers”. You recently reviewed a car at a petrol station in a Newbridge where they had installed 8 charging stations alongside the pumps. I pass that station regularly and I have never, ever seen even one car charging there. Lack of chargers? More like lack of EVs as the majority of motorists don’t want them.

    When will legacy auto learn about pricing their cars? Expect to pick up these up for about half the price in about a year.

    A car for nobody IMO who is going to buy this? Anybody clued into EV's will know theres nothing viable about this car at 44k. The Opel lads must be scratching their heads wondering how they will sell them.

    Buyers are _very_ wary of the huge devaluation on EV power plants..which is far more than on ICE or hybrids ....not sure how you overcome that.

    Forty four grand for a small hatchback, and that probably doesn’t include the delivery charge? Absolute non runner. I suppose if you really want one, just wait a year or so and the EV depreciation will bring this down to the mid twenty thousand. I like your honesty about the range of these EVs. Two hundred kms in winter for a car that costs in the mid forty thousand? Even if it was half the price, I still wouldn’t want it. On a related note, the weight of these EVs must eat tyres as I was parked next to a 231 registered Skoda Enyaq last week and it’s tyres were practically bald. It’s owner is probably looking at a thousand to replace all four tyres. I just can’t see any upside to owning an electric car.
