The Warriors is a 1979 American action thriller film directed by Walter Hill and based on Sol Yurick's 1965 novel of the same name. This novel was, in turn, based on Xenophon's Anabasis. The story centres on a New York City gang who must return to their home turf after they are framed for the murder of a respected gang leader. It was released in the United States on February 9, 1979.
After reports of vandalism and violence, Paramount temporarily halted their advertising campaign and released theatre owners from their obligation to show the film. Despite its initially negative reception, The Warriors has since become a cult film, and it has spawned multiple spinoffs, including video games and a comic book series.

My name is Moise Morancy. I’m the writer, director and producer on this proof of concept. I also star as Cleon in this. If you’re like me, someone who appreciates and loves “The Warriors,” you know in 2005, Rockstar created a video game based on the cult classic and gave a backstory to how the gang was formed. Myself and others believe this needs to be remade as a prequel. No one can hold a candle to the originators but I wanted to pay homage and give them their flowers. Because they weren’t good…they were “the best.”

In my iTunes collection. I was around 14 and happy that my older bwoys from my neighborhood [you know the ones you look up to drinking their 40's n blunts] at the time. This was back in the early 90's like 91, and they asked me if I ever saw it. Told him never heard of it they were "Oh you gotta see this" and saw it I did 👀.. We ended up putting together a Lil clique [gang] if you will. Called ourselves H.T.P [Hill top posse] because we lived in the Highlands. Nobody couldn't tell us we weren't bad at the time though we really weren't lol. This will forever be in my life somehow & I'm sure alot folks say the same thing. Thanks for sharing this vid 👊🏽👍🏽

Why has there never been a re-make of this great movie...or a TV series
At this point I don't think any studio could do it justice. But yeah, ton of potential for a Warriors series or some such.
Just in case you are looking for more, or anyone who may happen across this, the 2005 game is both the movie and the prequel. Shows how the gang came around and how they got the invite to the meeting, included fleshed out characters and so on. Also, to my recent discovery, there is a sequel comic. It's mostly about breaking Ajax out of jail.
@@grogc6942 yeah, there’s definitely potential to explore events and stories following The Warriors. But it definitely has to have the right production to hone on the themes of the original film.

Haha, the make up and style of this film is pure Gold. I love all the gangs they each have their uneque 80's style. Classic :)
